And another Bungie critic gets banned.
Yesterday, yet another outspoken Bungie critic was banned by the Bungie Ninjas.
In an exchange with another player in the forums, BoomerSooner51 called someone a "buttsniffing fanboy". Clearly, this language violates the code of conduct. Neither he nor I argue that point.
Now, generally, I am not one to promote conspiracy theories, but something here is not right. What's troubling is that it [i]feels[/i] - and yes, that's all I have to go on: a [i]feeling[/i] - like the ban hammer has dropped much more swiftly on these two Bungie critics than on the nasty masses Bungie is afraid to alienate.
I regularly receive nastier, more hateful messages than what either LostSols or BoomerSooner51 wrote. I report most of them...only to see the [i]exact same trolls[/i] posting the [i]exact same venom[/i] the next day. Bungie Ninjas will tell you "we can't catch 'em all". Fine, I understand there is a mountain of reports to go through each day, but what these guys got banned for - without warning, I add - is pretty benign compared to a lot of the nastiness that goes unpunished.
Despite the profits, this game is a disaster. It's received overwhelmingly bad reviews. Bungie and Activision are desperate for good press, and as you know, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Stay vigilant, my friends. Be careful not to cross that line. Despite Bungie Ninjas' insistence of neutrality, we have targets on our backs.
And for you doubters out there, keep in mind the company you're defending. With the latest news on TTK, it's clear that Bungie is quite comfortable lying to you to keep you throwing money at your screen.
And if you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know why.

1 RispondiYa these bans are pretty blatant attempts to silence people who make a lot of sense on these forums. Sure what they said could technically warrant a ban, but like OP said everyone has seen much worse comments from People and no action is taken...I really hope this game crashes and burns in the next year. Maybe another developer can run with this shared world shooter concept and really turn it into what everyone believed destiny could have been.

The game company, one of the industry's biggest players, had given their moderators the power to simply delete any negative post regarding the particular game or the company itself. It was perfectly within their right to censor what appeared on their forum, a service and webspace they provide. If one is being belligerent then they can expect to be shown the door, a premise not restricted to forums. I'm completely indifferent to this particular matter, I'm merely pointing out that yes undesirables do run the risk of being reprimanded -- this is not the wild west and posters should be responsible with their words because posting here is in fact a privilege, not a right.

Bungie have very cleary been hiding posts, that are popular but have strong arguments that reflect poorly on destiny. bunge have been doing this for the longest time, it is not new and it is how they "manage" the board. Bunge got no love for gamers.

What I would like to see are these people that are insulting removed from the forum. This place is for constructive criticism for the refinement of Destiny, not a place to insult or demean other player's. If Bungie wants to affect positive change then they need to let loose the Ninja's of war and ban them. A critic is good, he/she will tell you where you have a problem and what you need to improve. They should be a lower priority when deciding who to ban.

Lmao "buttsniffing fanboy". Ninjas ban people for that they must be abide a strict catholic/Christian religion. I for one use a lot more brutal words against my teachers at my school and they just laugh. This is clearly a form of "I don't like you, so I am going to check as many times as long as I want to make sure this one player gets banned." instead of actually clearing the forums of people crying nerf nerf nerf or buff buff buff and trash talking trolls who get away with everything that violates the code of conduct. I got a warning before for agreeing to someone's post, no swears nothing and I was warned not to violate a rule that didn't exist.

2 RisposteTo be fair, if I see someone posting unwarranted, terrible attacks on a personal level, I report them over and over and over again until they get banned. Its works. If you see something and want a desired result, make the moderators want to reports to stop. I only do this for the worst trolls who are just being hurtful. But it does work.

Come on man, you were on Sols posts agreeing when he posted about supposed forum censorship and a number of other conspiracies that aren't backed by fact around the game itself. I don't understand why people have a hard time understanding what is obvious, when you break the CoC and a bunch of people report you, you get banned. The boomer guy was rude to everyone that didn't agree with him all the time so there's no way this anything other than him getting what he deserves. If you're nasty to other players you get banned, there's no conspiracy here so stop dreaming it up.

14 RisposteIf you put a lot of eyes on your post then you up your risk of being banned when you break ToC. Simply put, if you have 1,000 people reading and commenting on your post that you violated the ToC, then you have more chances of being reported than if only 15 people cared to read and/or comment it. That being said these posts had a lot of visibility on them so of course people are going to jump on the unfair wagon. Quit bashing everyone and everything and crying "foul" at anything that makes you unhappy. Quit acting the victim. There are bigger injustices than $60 spent on over 100hrs.

I think Destiny has brought out the worst of Bungie or maybe they have so few old employees left that many things are getting overlooked/ignored.
