It has become very apparent (or should be by now at least); that Bungie honestly believes that their base of players are so ignorant, so mentally feeble, that they can do or say whatever they want in their chase for raw cash, that they don't even have to checks back on promises that they've made to us in regards to this game.
Anyone remember this from December? I do. It was when we were having a stroke about The Dark Blows dropping, and we all found out at the time that the damage cap was being raised on TDB weapons, but that our beloved VoG and base game weapons were being left behind.
Bungie Weekly Update 12/04/2014:
by DeeJ
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."
Now; this has been repeated many times in the last few days on these Forums, and for very justifiable reasons. With the Weekly Letdown message from DeeJ, it has come to light in a newly blatant manner that Bungie doesn't even put weight into their own words.
They say that they listen. They say that they understand our desires. They might actually listen and understand, but with the Updates that come around like the one from this past Thursday, Bungie has proven that they just don't care what we (as their base of players) want to see in this game. We're the ones slogging through the repetitive environments, content, and grinding out hundreds of hours for weapons that Bungie then takes away or neuters regardless of the imbalances that it creates in the game.
But yet they still do not heed the words of the experienced players when issues are brought to light. In fact; even though Bungie's devs and "Community Managers" barely play this game, they somehow think that the desires and issues that we face every hour we're logged into their latest mistake are of no consequence, or that it's all reverse psychology and we (for some reason) want all of our progress and hard work in their game erased every year.
The quote that I laid down at the top of this post needs to be addressed, Bungie; especially in light of the smack-to-the-face that you gave us on Thursday.
It is now more apparent than ever that you're blatantly lying to your fans and players. It has become painfully obvious that our satisfaction with your product is inconsequential in your drive for higher revenues and share prices.
There are always going to be hardcore fans who will always believe that Bungie can do no wrong, and that my words are just the bitter ranting of the ignorant. There's no cure for this, and you can't fix stupid, so these must be ignored as the blind -fanboy-ism's that they are.
But think about this nest thought for a second, Bungie.
When you're marketing for The Taken King, and your marketing (in all of its flashy glory) attracts a new potential player into your cash-grab, what also goes along with that marketing? You direct those potential new players, and existing Casual players to this site.
To these Forums.
While you may be able to ignore our time/grind honed issues and complaints; potential new players and Casual players that you're trying to rope into buying TTK won't ignore this.
In this age of digital-everything, consumer reviews are everything. People plan and make final purchasing decisions based on existing customer feedback. Feedback that is blistering and holding you over the coals on your own Forums, Amazon, Reddit, 4Chan, Gameinformer's Forums, GameSpot's forums, etc.
You've made such a debacle of the updates and lack of direction of this game, that you can't find a good review of your product of performance anywhere.
If we can't reach you in your Developer's Ivory Tower, if our issues are so easily disregarded; the loss of potential sales/revenue by what were once future customers and Casual Gamers might.
What you are doing to your players is wrong, Bungie. The way you're treating us, lying to us, and treating us like ignorant buffoons; it's very reminiscent of the crash of the Gaming Industry at the end of the 1980's and early 1990's. Players simply quit buying games for a 3+ year period because of the abuses dealt to the players by the industry; and it took some very creative restructuring of the industry led by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and a number of high-caliber developers in order to turn it back around and resurrect a dead industry.
While your actions towards us may not crash the entire industry again, it could very well just crash you as a company.
You need to fix this game, Bungie. You need to fix yourselves, and you need to treat your players with the respect and devotion that we are so readily willing to devote to you.
If not, we'll simply leave. In fact, a majority of us already have. That much is readily apparent by your lack of population numbers that most developers trip over themselves to brag about. From launch in 2014 to January of 2015, we couldn't get away from your population numbers in every single Weekly Update. You sold 13 million copies of Destiny across four systems.
But as of January, the last number we heard was that you only still have 3 million active accounts. That's a 75% population drop in five (5) months. If nothing else will get through to you, maybe your own spreadsheets might.
But something has to change, Bungie. Not the changes that you're currently planning either, but real, honest change from the inside out.
Because your players are fed up with your abuses, and we're becoming former-players. More and more of us by the day.
All because you ignore us and treat us like we have no idea what we're talking about.
Edit = GameInformer "exclusive" video from Bungie.
In it, they try to address all of the hatred they're receiving, and even had the balls to attempt to call this an "apology".
My favorite line in the video: "We understand that they want to play the game the way they want to play it. We didn't exactly plan for that."
Are you kidding me, Bungie? This is just... I can't... I am actually at a loss for words to describe my emotions right now.
I make my posts because I see the potential that Destiny has. I care about what this game could so easily be and how great it would be if that potential was realized. But I think I just felt the will to care... die.
The last vestige of respect I have/had for Bungie just took its last breath.
Good game, Bungie.

3 RisposteI miss my Badger, Icebreaker, shotguns that actually did damage, and armor that didn't make me cringe at the sight. Bungle could screw up making a grilled cheese sandwich.

9 RisposteYep, I called it. Bungie flat out ignored the fact that their fans are supremely unhappy with their changes. They used snarky quips and one-liners to poke at the community, then laid down an ultimatum all-but saying "buy The Taken King or don't play our game". The sheer denial from Bungie just staggering. If anyone was ever wondering how much Bungie has lost sight of who made them what they are, who got them to the pedigree they used to have, look no further than the last two weeks of announcements and the blatant dismissal of their fan base. So, fine Bungie. I'll answer your ultimatum. You and your broken game can go -blam!- yourselves. People were leaving this game in droves before, now it will be a mad rush for the door. Bungie deserves every bit of hatred that they get.

1 RispondiTTK is the last thing I bought from Bungie. Maybe I will buy Halo 5, depends on the reviews and my personal experience. I will never again buy a game without playing it first. And 85% of review sites are sellouts so I will only use those who gave Destiny with TTK 70%. Destiny 2 I will never touch. The game is not a game but an addiction.

Necromancer!!!

Destiny is a fun game I'll give Bungie that. Still though when BO3 is out, im going to focus on that. Yet, Im waiting for DIVISION to fulfill what Bungie promised...
-
Well said. As if reducing all of our efforts through an entire year of bungling beta testing, to include hard-won and player owned content, to irrelevant lumps sitting in our tower vaults wasn't bad enough. Now they compound the insult by giving us an even worse experience for year two.

Modificato da PizzaMan725: 8/31/2015 2:13:44 PMAll I see is a game company that got comfortable making one type of game and thought it would be OK to bring that mentality over into a different project. I'm not really upset with them because I enjoyed my time on the game and think I will have a equally or possibly more enjoyable time with TTK. I wasn't a fan of the light levels being tied to armor and a few other small things that I see, but they don't really stop me from enjoying the game. If I don't enjoy TTK, then I will stop playing. I won't condemn Bungie because I really don't care to. Development companies can change staff and do other things that can lead to different products. So I really don't care who the devs of a game are. It usually just gives me a general mindset of a few things I expect to see.

4 RisposteSubmit things like this to a magazine or a newspaper or something, where it has a chance of being read by people who aren't biased towards the game. There are plenty of others who agree with you, but continue to play anyway. Your opinion will have difficulty swaying people on a forum designed to serve as a hub of discussion for dedicated destiny players. Not trying to be cruel, I just think that your opinion could gain a lot more traction if presented in an alternate medium. The reasons you use are logically sound. Clearly, Destiny players (myself included) don't seem to care, and will play the game regardless.

1 RispondiI am on the edge hanging on for dear life. Your move bungie.

1 RispondiI just cancelled my Taken Advantage of King preordered and got MGSV Phantom Pain instead. It's obvious that Bungie doesn't give two flying fecks about it's playerbase anymore. They've become entangled in more lies and conspiracy theories in one year than the federal government has in the last five and that's saying something lol.

5 RisposteAnd especially after that Aug. 26th Twitch stream that just aired, this thread has a very new clarity on Bungie's inability to tell the truth, or even acknowledge the issues with their game. The sheer stubbornness to meet any criticism with epic levels of denial just staggers the mind. Truly goddamn amazing...

4 RisposteI am starting to see how Destiny is a failure in general. It is a POS (piece of shit) game with hype. It is like halo reach with magic and small groups. Like you would think wow halo reach really, no Destiny has no costume games no balanced MLG. Destiny is a "social" game why can't I still not talk to people on patrol PVP or the tower WTF. You can go anywhere in the open world BS You can earn gear. NO it is RNG Why is this a game that is still talked about? Why do the devs act like this is the best game ever made. It is a lie of a game sold on lies This game is bones raw with hardly any story sure they are adding it in TTK but how much can they really add? Sure you can say it has ten years but other games shipped with 3 times as much content in the first year and add even more. This game only adds one patrol!! WTF This game is as slow as its progression it will take 20 years for it to be full! This year one was a beta no doubt about it and year two is the money grab to make up for it Thank you G I

1 RispondiModificato da danicusbra: 8/28/2015 7:04:55 AMYou realize it's no coincidence they treat the public they way they do right? The game is designed to appeal to us because we are push overs that feel entitled and we were raised to obey rather than think on our own.

2 RisposteThe only viable solution to the bungie problem... BOYCOTT BUNGIE AND ACTIVISION They WILL listen to a loss in sales...they have made it abundantly clear their only concern is for us throwing money at the screen.

7 RisposteModificato da My_Torment: 8/25/2015 1:30:00 AMHello! I totally agree with you. I own and run a text based game and it is easy to be a staff member and not play the game. You think you know everything because you're in control. Well, the fact is, you're not. You really have to play the game. So I will oftentimes, take time to actually play the game to figure out where the players are coming from. It is always an enlightening experience. The beauty of it, is I can do changes as I play. "Oh this doesn't work well, it needs to be tweaked this way..." so I'll immediately make an improvement. In regards to taking things away from players, I never do that unless it's an exploit or grossly overpowered. Let me give you an example. The fighter/warrior had an ability that was just too powerful. Instead of removing it from the current and future players, I instead, removed it only from future players. Will these old players be more powerful? Yes. But that is their reward for being dedicated and loyal and playing longer. Also, unfortunately and this goes for every game out there: the majority of players don't stick with a game forever. Odds are, these more powerful players will fade out over time. Maybe it'll take 5 weeks, months or years, but that day will come. Anyways, the point of my ramblings above is that I don't understand why these Bungie employees don't play their game, for the long term. If they did, seriously, all of this could be adverted and the rest of us wouldn't get shafted.
