Unlike 99% of other forum goers, I'm not quitting the game because "omg nerf thorn", "omg they needed gjally", "omg Xur sold xxx".
Main reason I'm quitting is that I can't bear the redundancy of this game anymore. The whole point of games like Destiny is to value progression. You get better weapons, better armour and you slowly become more powerful mostly based on how much time and effort you dedicate.
Destiny, on the other hand, has no progression. You reset every DLC. Bungie wants to maximise DLC sales by making all your previous playing hours absolutely useless through making your weapons, materials and armour redundant. By doing this, people who have just bought the game and casual players get a nice head start. An example of this: Veterans play VoG, sink hundreds of hours into acquiring level 30 and ascendant materials, whilst levelling up exotics. TDB comes out. Christmas buyer won't buy TDB when he's stuck on level 26 failing VoG. Low and behold, hand holding bungie is here to save the day and fill their pockets. Let's make ascendant materials useless, let's increase the damage and make vanilla weapons redundant, let's sell VoG equivalent gear at the vendors, let's introduce this new Radiant material and these exotic shards which nobody has any of. Now everyone is on even terms and said Christmas noob will be like.. "Omg I can buy the DLC and be just as strong as these fools that have played since release!"
This is what pisses me off. I hope it pisses all of you off that I can come back to this game in year 10 and probably be just as powerful and developed as someone who has played from Day 1. I can delete my characters, give me 100 hours and I will be just as powerful as any of you that have played for 1000+. That is shit game design and it's greedy as -blam!-.
Edit: I thought there would be at least some agreement to my reason. Sadly, the autism contained in the comments only affirms my strong belief that it is silly sheep that are responsible for shit game releases, cut content and ridiculous DLC releases.

Unless you are somehow making money off playing a video game, the only reason to play is to have "fun." If you're not having fun, then quit. That's the only reason you need. It's perfectly valid and I will not argue with it. I'm having fun, so I'm going to continue to play. My reason is equally valid, and you have no reason to argue with it.

Be legend or be gone! But if you wanna use the same gear for ten years?? (Nothing monotonous about that!) Knock yourself out!
-
Why are you telling us this, if you want bungie to see this email it to them you attention whore.
-
Agreed. People have different receptors, some people actually care about that useless piece of gear they think is special And I know I'm gonna get "y do u play it then fgt" because my friends do, frankly
-
dude max level guardians have an edge over newer guardians. HoW dropped i was able to play everything max level even up to level 34! (32 titan whipped Urrox!!) new guardians would still need to grind out that vanguard rep/marks to get that full set of 32 gear.

I see your negative points as positives and here is why. I've played games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 11 which I've put in loads of hours and not even reached max level let alone gear needed to even try end game content. I've never got to play the best parts of the game due to not having or wanting to invest the amount of time needed to get to it. Destiny does a great job of letting casual players never feel to far out of reach of doing any of its content. I've played a lot of Destiny in year 1 due to my circumstance allowing me to. Going forward I won't be able to play as much and it's great to know I can still enjoy this game playing in a more casual way. This has to be a positive right?

I strongly agree with you, and I think the game (possibly Bungie as a whole) will fail due to this mentality, or at least will not succeed as much as it might. You do need some balance so new players are not at a hopeless disadvantage forever. But if you think of it as a dial to turn, not a binary switch, there are many options. For example, you could allow exotics and raid gear to be "ascended" (whatever the new term is), so existing players can retain favorites, but also provide equivalent new gear. In this case, the advantage to veteran players is simply options and perks. Instead, most things are reset, meaning there truly is almost no advantage in having played prior to TTK. Nothing you can't build up in a week or two. It is insulting to players and to me is a major indication that Bungie needs to reassign and replace its managers who chose this course for the game. The reason most replies disagree with you is that most players who understand this have either given up on the game or are taking a break from it now and thus not posting here.

I don't play the game, for the game. I play the game for my friends. I'm part of a large clan of people that I enjoy playing with. We have been doing Crota something like 10-12 times per week, sherpa-ing people through it for their flawless trophy. We make fun raid rules and do raids (no raid weapons, no exotics, etc.). We play PvP and prank each other.
-
Fair enough. I might wait for the first batch of dlc for year two. It'll be a cheaper package.
-
-
I completely agree. I spent so much time on vog reaching level 30 but it doesn't matter because each dlc you can buy vendor gear and be as powerful as the previous cap. New content is great but it shouldn't be the only thing relevant to leveling up.
-
Sweet! Can I have your acct if u have vanilla or tdb vendor gear? Love to try out a longbow, especially if u have no use for the game (:
-
Bungie indeed caters to noobs and casual and this game is symptomatic of many things wrong with the generation. Everyone gets a trophy even if they just showed up, if you didn't play year 1 don't worry!! Old players will be limited to the same stuff you can use so you can be just as effective! Certainly not a hardcore mmo experience.
-
Please tell me what doesnt feel redundant after almost a thousand hours doing it?
-
Sounds about right to me. Bottom line is they got away with there bullshit for a year.got us to pay out. Nice hustle bungie. It's not even about the game.its about being lied to by bungie..end of story,

How is our stuff resetting

It makes me wish that I had been playing WoW since it came out. That's a whole lot of memories I wish I could've had.

Blah blah blah... Why do people make these posts? Do they think we care?

6 RisposteYou know whats really redundant? These "I quit" posts. If you're gonna quit just quit. The internet doesnt care. In fact, they love proving things wrong, and arguing constantly.

Soooo, I see you on Sept. 15th. Let's face it, you're a liar.
