Unlike 99% of other forum goers, I'm not quitting the game because "omg nerf thorn", "omg they needed gjally", "omg Xur sold xxx".
Main reason I'm quitting is that I can't bear the redundancy of this game anymore. The whole point of games like Destiny is to value progression. You get better weapons, better armour and you slowly become more powerful mostly based on how much time and effort you dedicate.
Destiny, on the other hand, has no progression. You reset every DLC. Bungie wants to maximise DLC sales by making all your previous playing hours absolutely useless through making your weapons, materials and armour redundant. By doing this, people who have just bought the game and casual players get a nice head start. An example of this: Veterans play VoG, sink hundreds of hours into acquiring level 30 and ascendant materials, whilst levelling up exotics. TDB comes out. Christmas buyer won't buy TDB when he's stuck on level 26 failing VoG. Low and behold, hand holding bungie is here to save the day and fill their pockets. Let's make ascendant materials useless, let's increase the damage and make vanilla weapons redundant, let's sell VoG equivalent gear at the vendors, let's introduce this new Radiant material and these exotic shards which nobody has any of. Now everyone is on even terms and said Christmas noob will be like.. "Omg I can buy the DLC and be just as strong as these fools that have played since release!"
This is what pisses me off. I hope it pisses all of you off that I can come back to this game in year 10 and probably be just as powerful and developed as someone who has played from Day 1. I can delete my characters, give me 100 hours and I will be just as powerful as any of you that have played for 1000+. That is shit game design and it's greedy as -blam!-.
Edit: I thought there would be at least some agreement to my reason. Sadly, the autism contained in the comments only affirms my strong belief that it is silly sheep that are responsible for shit game releases, cut content and ridiculous DLC releases.

2 RisposteOur problem is when you announce it. No one cares. To us, as a whole, you're one insignificant drop in the pond, and you announcing you leaving it said pond will be seen as attention seeking. Wanna know why? Because you act like we should care. Also, you're posting one of the main four reasons people are leaving, just in more words. "omg no progression i gotta leave my old shit behind". -blam!- off and leave, no one wants to hear it.

If you dont enjoy the ride find another form of transport :)

Yea, welcome to the MMO experience, sorry it ain't for you. The Expansions have come out a bit sooner than is really necessary, I will admit, the time between launch and Taken King was actually pretty good; a year between an Expansions should be what most MMO-type games aim for but all it means is your gear is invalidated quicker (which I can certainly see as being a problem, don't get me wrong)

Totally agree, I've really given up destiny lately, played since beta, got every exotic etc etc. Picked it up today for the first time in 2 or 3 weeks, played for about an hour and got bored. Been enjoying elder scrolls online, much much bigger game, huge story (that's actually told in the game not on a bloody remote website!!) and huge customisation. My problem with destiny is bungie has clearly shown they don't have a clue what they're doing or where it's heading. They've changed their minds repeatedly about level and gear progression, hell come the next dlc they could easily say "nah have your year one exotics and gear back" just like in HoW. The best thing about ESO? I make my character, im informed that vr14 is the max level (64 essentially) I'm then able to find any piece of gear I like in game, take it to a smiting station and research/dismantle it, I can then create that gear in the exact same style for whatever level character I have. Every character looks totally unique, it's nearly impossible to find 2 people that look the same, there's 8 races with unique passives that make a big difference in play style, along side 4 classes and each class has a minimum of 4 types of builds (health, stam, magika or hybrid) So to start with you've got over 128 different basic builds you can try, that's not even including the armor/weapon builds that offer even more.. Yeah destiny is dead for me... Oh and did I mention dedicated servers so no lag? Awesome!

great post

I totally agree with you which is why I also quit. I refuse to put another 1000+ hours into the game just to have it mean nothing when the next DLC comes out, oh wait I got a super fantastic banner showing I played the first year. That really is a great way to show how you respect the time people put into your game Bungie.
-
I get your point. HoW dropped in May. Our gear will be useless 4 months later. Before that the game dropped in September. TBD dropped in Christmas, making everything between that time worthless for the most part. The problem is they keep dropping content that should be grouped together into a much larger package giving us a chance to progress through multiple missions, raids etc. The first 3 portions of the game should have been 1 whole game. Therefore a year later when TTK comes out people are excited, and not to worried about losing the gear they just acquired.
-
Jesus H! How many times will this thread be posted? Quit if you want to. Why are you so worried about other players' time and effort? It's a video game! Have fun or don't. No one cares if you quit.
-
I play the game for fun, not o assert myself over others. If you wanna play the game purely to see your stats or some other miscellaneous crap increase above others, go for it. But if you truly enjoyed the game, you wouldn't be posting this in the first place.

Modificato da Grimey Dark: 8/25/2015 9:50:56 AMI can relate to your point. However, I personally dont care if someone who buys this game on sept 15 is instantly as strong as I am. I had a lot of fun playing this game the past year. That has to count for something too right? Because thats the reason I am playing, for fun. I got to experience the raids when they were still 'special' The grinds with my friends were hilarious and a lot of fun. Made some new friends too. They can never take that from me. And I'm sure I will have a great time again when TTK drops and have fun grinding for new stuff. But, I respect everyones opinion and angle on something. Therefore I can understand your point.

2 RisposteI agree. At the start of Year 10, you'll have the option of coming back and getting a guardian to be just as powerful and badass as any of mine are. In those ten years when you're off spending way more money on other games, I'm hoping to have countless memories of time spent enjoying playing Destiny. Heck, even just being in the universe that they've crafted (admittedly as weak as the story presentation had been so far) is simply enjoyable to me. Some folks watch Star Wars movies or the Firefly series again and again just to enjoy being in that universe. That is the sort of thing I'm talking about. While they'll have their couch to share their viewing enjoyment, I'll have fellow guardians all over the world that I can share in adventures and make memories together with. My clan and I are going to stake out the new Crucible maps, lay down the enemies in the strikes, and dive deep into the new raid. I'll have the option to collect gear that I can look back on those memories with. My 1st Gjallarhorn was on my 1st HM VoG amazingly enough. I'll never forget my friends reactions to that. And that was just in Year 1. If Bungie can give me 9 more years of this much entertainment for this little money, then I'll happily be along for the ride. How you spend your gaming time is up to you. I genuinely wish you nothing but enjoyment in that, and if Destiny has enough gripes to make that impossible for you, then find something else. I hear Witcher is awesome.

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooobody caresssssss

2 RisposteI agree. It makes sense from a Bungie business point of view but for day 1 customers it's a kick in the teeth. I can understand why, it's all about the money...which is standard business. What I DONT understand is the blind fanboyism of morons who desperately try to defend Bungie at every turn. Even Bungie has APOLOGIZED after every DLC they have dropped! Haha. Sometimes I just wanna grab the fanboys and shake them screaming... LOOK I GET THAT THE GAME IS FUN AND THAT YOU'VE WASTED 1000 HOURS OF YOU'RE LIFE PLAYING IT. IT DOESNT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE TO AGREE WITH OR SUPPORT EVERY SINGLE DECISION THAT A BUSINESS HAS CAME UP WITH TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF YOU. YOU DONT HAVE TO STOP PLAYING JUST WAKE UP AND SNAP OUT OF IT. BE CRITICAL. THINK FOR YOURSELF AND STOP JUST BLINDLY TAKING IT UP THE ASS! Something like that.

No one honestly cares if you leave Just leave the game and watch as I give no Shi its
-
3 RisposteWhy are you posting this? Just leave man. Don't post, don't comment, just leave. This forum is saturated by people who want to ruin the enjoyment some people still have with this game. Just go.
-
I agree with this. I mean your saying why your quitting and the based reason is not a lie in the slightest.
-
Elitist -blam!-.

3 Risposte...I've been playing Halo for 8+ years, my Spartan really didn't gain much in the way of power (cool new tricks and vehicles). ...I played Diablo 1, and 2 back in the day...well, my gear/characters didn't follow from back then to Diablo 3. I've never played Boarderlands, but I'd be interested to know how they did gun and character progression through the different titles.
-
A valid reason is the following: my doomsday bunker doesn't have wi-fi and I can't play any more. My hat should be the only valid reason to quit destiny

I get what you are saying and I'm on the fence about it myself but tbh if everything was always able to be upgraded to the new gear then the list of weapons would be enormous but the fact would remain that people would keep using the same old stuff and I love my gear don't get me wrong and it pains me to have to put it down for what I feel is lesser gear but it's also an exciting concept and makes the game feel brand new and gives it a new feel.. I'm raging my Gjallarhorn can't come with me to the new damage rating of 280 but oh well.. there's a new variety of weapons that will become new favourites to me and that's fine.. once I accepted it I became excited about it.. it's like playing the game for the first time again.. as the game evolves we have to evolve with it and play all the while with the notion that nothing will last as to not get emotionally attached to certain items.. I respect your decision and go with whatever makes you happy dude.. more power to you
-
Instead of insulting players. Go look up other mmos.
-
I respect your opinions, I hate people saying that you don't need to post this because in reality why the -blam!- are they replying when they don't need to.
-
Valid reason why nobody cares: doesnt affect anyone else ;-)

Totally agree
