Disclaimer!: I am not calling for a nerf, simply looking for some opinions on the subject, and hopefully some buffs to the Titan class as a whole. At first I was reluctant to post this but I got a lot of support on another thread and some people wanted me to make it its own thread.
I have extensively used Titan in the crucible and compared to the Hunter class which I have also used extensively, Titan is so much weaker. While I have not used the Warlock enough to judge it due to lack of time, I can still confidently day that Titans are weaker. I could name tons of reasons so let's get into it:
Supers:
Gunslinger
>mobile
>one shot
>any distance
>roams
Bladedancer
>one shot
>close quarters
>roams
>very fast
>200% over shield (receives half damage)
Voidwalker
>long distance
>AoE
>Non mobile
>Medium Defense buff
Sun singer
>mobile
>TTK varies
>Big defense buff (depends on perks)
>Can revive without assistance
>Can support teammates
Defender
>Non Mobile
>No kill potential
>Buffs defense or damage
>Easily destroyed by any other super
Striker
>Close range
>AoE
>Less blast radius than nova bomb (other AoE super)
>Medium-Large defense buff (dependent on perks)
If you just compare striker super to nova bomb it is much weaker overall because you need to be close quarters which is even harder to do in a crowd of enemies. While Hunter supers are mobile, I think they still should be compared to Titans FoH or NB.
Hunter supers can accomplish things like this that other supers cannot:
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/WolfWillowgrove/video/6492531
Notice how spread apart they were! A FoH or nova bomb couldn't have done that!
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/WolfWillowgrove/video/6492530
A FoH or nova bomb couldn't have done this either because if they used it when they one persons revive invincibility wore of they would die by the guy rushing me with a shotgun, if they used a FoH or nova bomb before, they would have died by they guy's shotgun who had just been revived.
(Good) Grenades:
Hunter
>Tripmine
>Flux
>Arcbolt
Warlock
>Axion Bolt
>Firebolt
>Fusion
Titan
>Lightning
>Possibly suppressor or magnetic
(Magnetic has least amount of "magnetism" of all the sticky grenades)
Now for melees:
Blink Strike
>5.8 meter melee distance
>122 damage
>One shot capability
>Invisibility capability on hit
Throwing Knife
>Thrown
>158 damage on precision
>Can burn on hit
>Can immediately replenish on kill
Energy Drain
>6 meter melee distance
>122 damage
>Decreases ability cool down on hit
>Can regenerate health on kill
>Can buff weapon action speed on hit
Scorch
>6 meter melee distance
>158 damage
>Can provide a shield on hit
>Can knock back enemies on hit
>Can one shot in super
Barrier
>4 meter melee distance
>122 damage
>Provides shield on kill
>Can regenerate overshield with time
>Can generate orbs
Storm Fist
>4 meter melee distance
>158 damage
>Can cause AoE on hit (deals no damage to original target)
>Can immediately recharge on kill
Shoulder Charge
>One hit kill
>Needs to warm up
>Limited time to use
>Easy to counter because you must sprint in almost a straight line with no defense or ability to shoot for 3 seconds before it readies
Jumps:
Obviously blink is the best jump and the Hunter double/triple jumps second, and the Titan lift and the warlock glide in last.
If you look over all of the classes abilities obviously Titans lack more than any other class.
Here are some statistics
>12 of the top 100 players are Titans.
>Titans have lowest average KD ratio in both subclasses sitting at about 0.94 for striker and 0.90 for defender
>Titans are the most used starter class but are also the most deleted class after 10-20 hours of game time, the amount of hunter and even warlocks that are created after 10-20 hours jumps from 20% to almost 60%
Titans need a buff to compete, simple as that.
•Destinytracker is where most of this info is from, the melee distance and damage is taken from the destiny strategy guide made by bungie.
Birdman00 Came up with some great ideas for buffs:
Here are some changes I would make to Titans:
-Ward of dawn is more durable, and takes about a nova bomb and two shotgun shots to destroy it (Should take one full super and a bit more firepower to destroy). Razor's edge can no longer go through the bubble
-Increased spike grenade duration
- Suppressor grenade cancels more attacks in PvE and has a larger radius
- Juggernaut lasts longer and doesn't require you to move directly forwards
Raphaeleddie7 came up with this good point on Titans and who plays them:
Titans are the best. First character, and it will always be my main. Especially now that sunbreaker will be coming out, more people might be switching over.
People hate them because when non-Titan mains do things such as shoulder charge and fist of panic, it makes them think that that's how all Titans are. They don't realize how important Titans are. They're the only class with teamwork based abilities.
Edit: A lot of people are saying that you must use the Titan right, and pointing out things like learning to use the Titan bubble, etc. and they don't usually have a Titan or at least don't main one. I get that there are some very good Titans out there, but that is the player, not the class. If you put the average KD player say about a 0.95 KD due to suicides and gave them each class 99% of the time they would do better on the Hunter or warlock.
Obligatory Edit: WERE TRENDING! That will be all.
Edit: A lot of hunters have come in here saying that their supers are the weakest due to low defense buffs. Here is my rebuttal:
Stop complaining about how you die easily in your supers, your supers have the most mobility and kill potential out of any super in the game. I would know, I play my Hunter tons in the crucible.
Golden Gun: You activate at a distance and pick off enemies from a range where they cannot reach you, if there is a sniper there kill him first! Often he will not be able to hit your head in the first place and he actually has to aim whereas with golden gun you can point in the general direction and shoot and you will kill him. If you are killed by a sniper you either got unlucky or you did something wrong.
Bladedancer: Despite what you think bladedancer gets a 200% over shield which means they take half the damage of everything put into them. I get it blah blah shotguns kill you so much. Don't run in a straight line towards an enemy with a shotgun. You are mobile and fast for a reason, simply jump, make it harder for them to hit you! Also: don't blindly jump into a crowd of enemies and let them murder you! Again: vertical space is a thing, jump, kill, jump, kill, etc.
Stop complaining about how nova bomb and fist of havoc are overpowered! They have less kill potential as the cannot move during their supers, they aren't able to run across the map on shotting people! It is rare to get a good multi kill with their supers, they have to use it properly, there are two ways to do this:
>Use it on a zone or heavy- easier for nova bomb as the enemies will kill the Titan most times before he can get in range unless the heavy is in an enclosed area.
>Use them to shut down supers that threaten your team- this means kill the hunters that threaten your team. I don't know about you guys but I rarely get killed by a nova bomb of FoH when I use my super. Less people use Titan which helps with the FoH, but with golden gun the FoH shouldn't be within reach of you. Nova bomb is rare because everyone plays sun singer and I have yet to be shut down by a nova bomb in the past month on my Hunter. I don't even recall being killed by FoH more than once in the last month. I'm serious, there have been attempts but I have been able to blink out of the way.
I am going to reiterate this point now:
Hunter supers can accomplish things like this that other supers cannot:
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/WolfWillowgrove/video/6492531
Notice how spread apart they were! A FoH or nova bomb couldn't have done that!

gcw0068 came up with some good ideas for buffs to Titan as well as Hunter:
Along with raphae and birdman's suggestions, is like to add some that reinforce the whole idea of what a Titan is- cqc.
Striker- Storm Fist deals more damage (170? 188?) and disorients on critical hits.
Defender- Force Barrier procs on hit.
However, along with this I'd like to see some buffs for the weakest PvE class, the Hunter. These would only really do anything in PvE.
Golden Gun- 1.2x damage in PvE.
Arc Blade- All hits stagger. As is in high level content, our enemies always have Lightswitch. Making the in your face Arc Blade a death sentence. This stagger probably wouldn't work with the Angry Modifier.
Finally, I'd like to see armor, recovery, and agility actually matter.
13 RisposteNo one gives a -blam!-, here's why- 1) you're a crybaby like all noobs 2) we just dont give a -blam!- 3) your opinion is irrelevant Some good solutions for you to follow- 1) quit bitching 2) KYS
-
1 RispondiAgreed. Titans are more work in crucible. Check my stats, I started a lock and already have a better k/d. I suck btw and lock just gives me more k/d than Titan.
-
8 RisposteComing from my experience playing a titan as well as playing against titans, I'm going to give you some feedback. You're looking at this wrong. You're looking at individual perks when you can use them in unison with others. The titan subclass isn't the weakest class, but it is the easiest to use. It was built off of simplicity, the ability to kick ass and take names, and people like you (not an insult) don't ever recognize the synergy the Titans actually have, and are getting in TTK. Lightning grenade is arguably the best grenade in the game, Flashbang grenades are insane of used correctly, magnetic grenade have the least tracking of the sticky grenades, but also deal the most damage of them with the dual explosion. The point you made is now invalid about grenades. The titans better control option in the jump skill tree makes them the fastest character in the game, especially when you're using striker in conjunction with shoulder charge. It's crazy how fast they can be. The fist of havoc actually has a greater blast radius than ward of dawn, and can wrap around walls to a degree, meaning that there's a certain versitility to the titan that the nova bomb doesn't have. The only reason it seems like FoH is smaller than the nova bomb is normally because of shatter or vortex. One increases the width of the area of effect, and one is like aftershocks, just not as powerful. Blink is strong, but no where near the best jump. It gains massive speed at the cost of no control. If you miss a landing, you're either boned for that jump or you have to waste your second blink trying to correct. Titans aren't the weakest class, they're just the basic class with no real bells and whistles

It all depends on the player. All classes have there plusses and minuses. My main has always been a warlock but I personally find the Titan more effective in crucible.
-
2 RisposteWall of text did not read but what people have to understand is one will always be better, even if it's not intentional
-
3 RisposteNova bomb with more range than fist of panic? I have used four double jumps up and was still hit by a titan who fist of panicked. Nervous Bomb is much easier to dodge.
-
1 RispondiWell then u changed my mind from thinking blade dancers were the sucky ones
-
3 RisposteIdk about you but I think maybe they are the ones more suited for pve activities with the bubble
-
1 RispondiNice job, dude. This post has seriously grown!

2 RisposteI'd like to point out that nova bomb is the 2nd worst super as it easily gets caught on objects.
-
Weapons of Light and a high impact sniper rifle. Enough said

1 RispondiModificato da KIjackalLL: 8/20/2015 5:28:16 PMI agree. I main a Titan. My crucible k/d is higher on my Hunter and Warlock with the exception of Trials.(lightening grenades are amazing for zone control.) Once the sunbreaker drops with TTK I think it will start to level the playing field. Just wish they would adjust the melee distance for Titans. Compared to other classes I feel like I have T-Rex arms. Titan skating with Increased Control is a game changer. It takes a lot of time to master, I've been practicing for about 3 weeks and it is still not perfect, but it is worth it for anyone playing Titan.
-
i play each class very well imo. titan is the fastest class tho but blink is what makes pvp most broken. it doesnt matter what subclass it is, blink is op. blink has many options compared to other jumps. the only buff i can think for titans is increased melee range, but then they have the fastest melee. maybe give as much armor as the ram and if a warlock wants to have as much hp, use ram.
-
My titan has the best stats. I'm tired if scrubs running into a wall to shoulder charge me.
-
Lift and glide are so much faster than double jump. Arc Blade gives 25% kore shield if you are missing health you get nothing. If you miss with flux you barely do damage. I have been killed by mag grenades laying on the ground.
-
4 RisposteNah man you just suck at being a Titan, that's all >•>

Interesting post. While im nowhere near a top crucible player Ive found titans easier to run especially during Iron Banner and Trials. Typically as a striker i run either the inmost light helm or the armantarium (however it is spelled). Usually I dont bother with aftershock as id rather blast outward on hulk smash typically at range due to Master Chief`s cracked helmet. with blinding grenade or pulse i use them for board control more than kills. Shoulder charger... i dont use that reactively. You cant. I try running it on a flank towards enemies just at the edge of my hud. If it turns out to be a cluster of baddies, havoc fist "defensively". When i run defender i run either weapons or armor of light as the bubble, popping - to support the team more than my own benefit. Saint 14 is the obvious choice but ill typically run glasshouse or again the arma-mawhachacallit for suppression grenades. Ive shutdown many supers with suppression grenades... especially hunters. In short it comes down to playstyle, watching your eam, listening when they communicate and most importantly remembering one thing Ghost, the Speaker and the Mysterious Stranger of Strangeness all didnt have time to explain: You are not masterchief.

Modificato da CShaw777: 8/20/2015 4:51:31 PMI personally feel that each class kind of has its own niche whether that was intended or not. I think the top three pvp subclasses are Gunslinger, Bladedancer, and Voidwalker. And then the top pve subclasses are the two Titan ones and Sunsinger. I've mained a hunter all the way through and I definitely feel more comfortable playing with him in pvp than in pve, and my warlock and Titan feel easier to use and better in pve. I think it's a good thing that each class kind of has its own niche, and I also think that Sunbreaker could very well be a good pvp subclass.
-
1 RispondiI play all 3 and agree 100%. Most of those who disagree have not spent enough time playing a titan
-
My only complaints about the Titan are that they don't have blink and that their grenades are lackluster. They have insane mobility however if you know how to use increased control.
-
3 RisposteModificato da TronCat: 8/20/2015 11:07:45 AMIf you consider flux and fusion nades good you should consider magnetic grenades good. Also supressor grenades aren't bad, use them like frag grenades. Flashbang grenades are also good.
-
1 RispondiWish titan bubble was invincible until it runs out. Maybe even stay up after titan is dead.
-
1 RispondiFist of havoc is the best anti-super in the game
-
1 RispondiI'm killed by Titans all the time especially with the flying butt slam. I find them frustrating especially on Control.
