A, B, and C have a match.
A gets 20 kills, and 2 deaths
B gets 1 kill, and 10 deaths
C gets 1 kill, and 10 deaths
A's K/D is 10, B's is .1, C's is .1
The mean (usually referred to as "average", but means medians and modes are all "averages") K/D of this game is 3.4
The median K/D of this game is .1
The mode K/D of this game is .1
By no type of average is this game's K/D 1. You are correct that the average K/D in destiny is 1.0, but it is not by definition 1.
English
-
22 kills over 22 deaths = 1
-
What does that have to do with anything? We're talking about the average K/D of the individual players.
-
I was referring to all games played by everyone
-
A, B and C play ten trillion games, getting the same results +/- 1 kill every single time. The average K/D is exactly the same. There. Now that's all of the games ever played by anyone in this game that I've made up. Notice how the results are the same. If, by definition, the average K/D is 1, this shouldn't even be possible.
-
That's cool but it doesn't happen. Average and median are different. The total kills would be equal to the total of deaths. Therefore the average KD is 1.0
-
You're right, it doesn't happen. That doesn't make the fact that you called 1.0 the definition any less wrong. Means, medians and modes are all averages.
