Personally I have no issue with them. It's their choice how they live their life in the end and it doesn't effect me. However often with transgender people there are in fact other underlying mental issues... For example one that I know personally is actually autistic. Of course this person wouldn't feel comfortable in their own body because that is part of the disorder. I don't really think mutilating your body with gender reassignment could possibly fix this. I think proper therapy and learning to accept oneself as they are is a far better solution. Studies that showed high satisfaction rates with gender reassignments were actually vastly misrepresenting the truth. You see those studies failed to acknowledge that around 60% of the participants never followed up with the studies and reported back. The reason for this is because in many cases they regretted it and in fact many resorted to suicide. That's not to say that it may not satisfy and help some people, but I feel it demonstrates that often times it's better to deal with the underlying issues then to do something drastic like gender reassignment. It's like if you suffered from depression before your sex change, you will likely still suffer from depression after it. Your problems will still be there when it's over so it's better just to deal with them and learn to live with it. I think it's far better to learn to accept yourself for who you are, as you are. There are many things I dislike about myself and my own body I wish I that could change. However I find acceptance for it and realize that it's many of these things that makes me who I am. That these are the struggles of the human condition which makes life worth living. These are the things that drive us to grow as people and find meaning and fulfillment in life. Like I said though in the end it's up to the individual and I won't pass judgement on them in any case. If they want to go through with it more power to them, I wish them only the best in their journey. I just hope they take the time to try and learn how to love themselves for who they are and to find acceptance for themselves first. But we all are on a different journey through life, we just make the best of it we can. My personal rule of thumb is to try and never do anything that you can't take back. I hope that anyone who considers gender reassignment takes the points I made into careful consideration before taking the plunge. In the end though I hope more then anything they find happiness whether they go through with it or not.

I have nothing against the person. I just have issues with the arrogance of people attempting to "correct" nature. They can't. They might have an operation to "change" their sex but the fact is nature has written them to be whatever it is they started out as in their chromosomes. Think of it like a book. Your friend was "The Count of Monte Cristo." They decide to change because they don't like who they are on the outside, but what did they really change? Your friend's cover may now read "The Great Gatsby" but on the inside they are still "The Count of Monte Cristo." Your friend is genetically written as whatever they were born as. By undergoing the operation, the change was only skin deep. They really have not changed anything.

I don't have any problem with transsexuals. Yet I don't get how their children don't grow up messed up, unable to see their trans parents. *bu-dum-tss*

Transgender people are not deranged. Like all methods of thinking, it's just chemical and hormonal imbalances, which is natural. However, I will never understand the urge to chop off my junk and turn it into a flesh pocket. No f'n way!!
