Hunters supers aren't op, but they are definately more geared towards pvp. Both gunslinger and bladedancer are able to focus the super into multiple kills, only other class that can kind of do that is sunsinger, but that is just spamming grenades and melees, not one shot kills.

How Night stalker outshines defender as a support subclass in every way possible . here is no doubt about how strong are defender bubbles in PvE when you know where to put it and how to position it . but In PvP its very weak . even if you put the bubble down to lure players to come out its still doesn't grantee even one kill . Night stalker out shines defender in every way : 1- it has the better grenades(At least more verity) 2- you got mobility with the roll 3- your super has a 1 - 3 kill potential from a distance while crippling surrounding enemies . Defenders have too many weaknesses in the crucible: 1-literally every super will counter the bubble . 2-it doesn't take much to out gun a titan in his bubble. (shoulder charge and punch , blink shotgun or just walk i and tag team) 3- barley any mobility. 4-grenades are ok at best but not amazing. My two glaring issues are the fact everything will pop the bubble and lack of mobility .I understand that defenders and night stalkers are two opposites to the spectrum but ultimately both are support classes. Night stalker can kill and lock down enemies for teammates to finish off. Defenders lock down a location while buffing their teammates but the only succeed in the second halve and fail hard at the first part. Since bungie are nurfing blink that means they are open to do some adjustments to the classes .And here my personal suggestions to make defenders have place in the crucible. 1- give the defender a roll like the night stalker or blink (since all the jumps are the same between all titan classes ) 2-make the bubble impenetrable to the supers or at least make one counter per class (Blade dancer for hunters , stormcaller or voidwalker for and striker for titans.) . or make it so that supers that enter the bubble are canceled even if they are mid-animation or something. I know an argument can be made against defender that they are meant for PVE only but all the other subclasses have a place in crucible . Also i think titans cant blink due to the lure but since its virtually non-existing in the game if the lure got changed a little I am sure hardly anyone would notice or make them roll .If turtles can flip around why cant a titan roll. I am no programmer nor do I have any Idea how hard is it to change the code of something . this is how I see the titan subclass: stirker is the tactical approach and the best at flanking . Defender holds down a position while buffing the team . sunbreaker basically everything burns . P.S. these are my personal opinions and i welcome all kinds of suggestions and lets hope that bungie will here us on this topic and try to criticize objectively

The double jump was why I initially used hunter in the beta and launch game

I think it's just because the cloak it has. I run a Titan so I might not be 100% correct but I'm sure that's what ran in almost everyone's head when they first saw the 3 classes you could pick from.. they always show the hunter in the middle on the commercials even on the front side of the case it comes in.
