      • Looks like this will be the new preferred weapon for raids. I wonder if a full fireteam of Sleeper Simulants can down Atheon in one round during Time's Vengeance plus Weapons of Light.... I'm definitely gonna grind for this gun.

          • Nobody's talking about the fact that unlike gally, this thing will get the full effect of weapons of light. Imagine 12k damage per shot. 3 shots per mag, probably 20 total. Oh mah gAwd

                  As i read about it it seemed great. But then... Bouncing? Really? Who ever uses hard light for its projectiles (it never really even come sin handy actually) ive never noticed it. Or even dregs promise with increase projectile acquisition (still never useful) so this thing which shoots much slower, is not going to be handy at all. Example: outside (not going to bounce off anything) Indoors (rooms are wide and have doorways it might end up leaving thru) Only real useful situation is in a hallway or something which you NEVER fight enemies in. PLUS it didnt even do nearly as much damage as gally. 3 bullets didnt even kill the ogre and it shoots slower than a gally too. Even if they nerf wolfpack rounds by half: - i hold 7 rockets, sleeper holds 6. -Slower RoF -You have to be more precise with it -In pvp youll be killed by a rocket much faster than you could even get a shot off -If you flinch, your bullet will bounce out the map and up the gunsmiths ass -You need to be closer as it probably has a damage falloff and even if not, will be harder to hit enemies at a distance (especially if moving) -Gally tracks -it is a small skinny laser so it had to bounce and still hit them -5 bounces sounds like alot but its really not if you think about it -gally can hit a large group all at once, sleeper will only hit ememies if theyre lined up back to back Now im not saying it sucks total ass (still better than SGA, Dragons Breath etc) but not gally at least. [u]Feel free to tell me why its better or disagree, i actually [b]want[/b] to be persuaded to like this weapon more[/u] So if it has like super mega ultra bouncing target acquisition, let me know. Or if it holds more than 6. Etc. Thanks! Edit: i just got my gally a few weeks after HoW came out. Im a alpha player. So im not attached to this thing. Im not a fanboy of it. But people here are so hyped that they just dont want to believe that this weapon wont be the best thing ever. Cant have a debate if someones biased.

                      • Ricocheting rounds have proven to be underwhelming so far in destiny, but the fact that this one bounces 5 times and through targets could make it useful. It may even be pretty devastating in pvp, if fired down choke points or into small rooms assuming the beam always Insta-kills though I doubt deliberately aiming the bounce will be easy or viable. 5 bounces seems like it might be enough that the occasional shot might redirect back at you, I wonder if we're going to see some amusing self disintegration suicides.

                          Yea this thing will be OP, calling it now But at least I can finally get one by doing the questline 11 (soon to be 12!) months with well over 1000 hours and no ghorn. To hell with grinding for it. This thing will be my boomstick

                            • Bit of a rant, but I do have a point. It seems like the only guns allowed to break the rules of their class are fusion rifles. So far we have: Vex Mythoclast - Auto Rifle Queensbreaker Bow - Sniper Rifle/Scout Rifle Sleeper Simulant - Laser Pointer While other classes, like SR or PR, get perks like autofire, only FRs get mechanical redesigns. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a new exotic that ends up firing like a pulse rifle, or one that is a no charge/short distance hybrid between a shotgun and a hand cannon. This is a part of the larger design set-up in Destiny. Fusion rifles are the only weapon type that is really significantly different from any real world analogue. Obviously the perks on guns make them wildly different from what guns can do in the real world but the basic concepts are, with the exception of FRs, real weapons in nearly every regard. Yet we're fighting aliens on different planets. I really want a bit more science fiction in the fantasy western we call Destiny. Fusion rifles aren't a concept anyone of us has a hard time dealing with. Nothing new as far a FPS or TPS games go. But all the mechanically divergent and/or interesting ideas seem to just get this weapon class slapped onto it. All the 'energy' weapons anyway. Ballistic weapons, or at least weapons where we can explain it as a ballistic projectile, get their own type. But 'fusion rifle' just seems to apply to anything that charges or is battery based, not magazine or clip, for it's ammunition. Now the new design direction of Omolon seems to be bridging the gap in what I see as a design flaw. Liquid ammunition, while still using matter instead of energy, is a definite step towards a more sci-fi explanation and flavor. But lets be honest, if we get some sort of grenade launcher, it's going to be exactly that. If this launcher instead shoots energy spheres instead of grenades, it's going to be a fusion rifle. That's where there's a large untapped area for flavor and mechanics. Something like the Q's Bow could have been the archetype for the whole Fusion Rifle class, while FRs could have been something like 'Force Blunderbuss', considering they have more in common with real blunderbusses than any rifle I've ever seen. Something like this new Sleeper could be an 'Energy Pulser'. All said I just dislike the fact that, as I see it, there are some really interesting untapped sci-fi elements in this game. TL;DR - Fusion Rifles are becoming the add-hoc category for all interesting weapon mechanics.
