If you got it in a drop you didn't earn it. It was given so you got a crutch . Buying something is earning it . Didn't your parents teach you if you want something you need to earn money and buy it . Guess you'll always be a welfare baby and given stuff your whole life .

Yeah i won the lottery the day HoW dropped and got a lucky engram that turned into bones. Others have run various ingame content to earn strange coins which allows them to spend their earnings on bones.

There I was at the front of it all standing before a man with ghost tentacles for a face. I gave the sketchy man my coins nervously, my heart pounding faster by the second. He then reached out and handed me a pair of boots, these were not just any boots they were the last exotic item I needed in the game. There I was finally after countless how nightfalls I couldn't get this one exotic I was missing, but here I stand with this new earned exotic. I am legend.

RNG ain't earning bro. Xurning is actually the way to earn, you get RANDOM items from RNG, but with Xur you go grab some SC and buy items from him

I took 13 Strange Coins from my stack of 327, threw them at Xurs face and took the boots with his tentacle feet still in 'em. No regrets. Most coins probably rolled off the edge of the Tower. Not my problem. My collection is complete.
