Seeing as all Year 1 gear can't be ascended...
What is the point now of doing VoG, Crota, PoE, and ToO? That stuff is just going to be useless in a month, so why bother?
edit: sure, for fun, might as well just delete all of the old stuff now because you clearly don't need it to have fun.

You can still wear it it just will have the same defense and attack as rates but you will have costumes able perks still so it won't matter as much

I think they said they are still considering making raid armor ascend in TTK. It makes sense to do so. But they haven't made a decision yet.

besides "fun" you can also stock up on materials which you will be able to convert to reputation in TTK or motes now

I still need some Exotics to drop. Also need to level up a lot of Exotics. Also need to level a few factions and am trying to get some cool shaders to drop. So there are still things to do in Destiny.

"Exotics and new gear will be able to be powered up by sacrificing another exotic from the same gear slot" what I take from that is that our year one exotics will be going with us into the next years. 1 RispondiBecause it's fun. I still do the raids because I enjoy them. And I enjoy helping newer players and seeing them get excited about getting the mythoclast, black hammer, gjallarhorn, etc.

1 RispondiPlease explain to me "useless". 331 weapons for example. THEY STILL KICKS ASS!! They're all viable for almost very thing! The only thing would be skolas but even then, my friends did skolas with 331 weapons only JUST FINE. 331 weapons are extremely powerful still. 365 is even better. And that's how it's gonna work in TTK. 365 weapons are gonna be super powerful, but --- is gonna be even better.

Useless seems a bit extreme. I did all the house of wolves content and iron banner with 331 weapons and had no issues. It may have been easier with 365s but it seems the difference is more hyped than actually advantageous.
