$40 TTK is cheap as chips
What's with all the crying? Here's a list of $40 items to compare. What will last longer, a Destiny expansion or some of the following items? Feel free to list your own comparisons. What can you do for 500-1000 hrs for less than $40 that doesn't cause chaffing???
$40 is equal to:
2 large pizzas
Half a tank of gas in my car
2 hrs at a bar
Dinner tab, for 1!
2 cases of beer
Half the cost of 1 months cable bill
1/8th of bud
I mean seriously, what's $40? Maybe these forums are overrun by kids with allowances, idk. What do you guys think?
Edited to reflect mainland US prices instead of Hawaii. For those of you that eat $5 hot n ready pizza, good for you. A quality pie will set you back $20
Edit 2: come on guys, 'cheap as chips' is just a saying. Nowhere on here do I claim that chips cost $40. Use your heads before you speak
Edit 3: a lot of you are concerned with my expenses for some reason. I have to use premium fuel in my car which is $4.19/gal with a 20 gal tank. Regular unleaded is $3.89/gal. Bud is expensive in Hawaii, idk what else to tell you about that. $5 hot n ready pizzas don't exist here, but if they did I wouldn't ever touch that garbage. You want a decent pie it's gonna run close to $20 give or take. For some reason this thread is focusing on food! Lol
Edit 4: for those of you in UK and AU I don't know what to tell you. I see all of your concerns here and I agree that they need to address this. It's a digital download that shouldn't require additional fees. Not to sound naive, but has anyone looked into it? Like is there something with your local government/department of taxation that is hitting you with a hefty fee???

1 RispondiTotally agree op, been replying to others on here and trying to keep this as an adult conversation. $40 is not a lot to ask for that much content. Just wish people would stop trying to make this a deep thing about an industry that has had $60 games for ever 10 years. Inflation seems to ignore games and yet people get up in arms about $40 for the next round of content? I'd say we're all lucky it's not $80 for games and $60 for DLC, which is easily could be by now

Edit: and I think you're correct about there being a lot of Guardians restricted to an allowance. Probably not too many gainfully employed guardians who are losing their mind over $40. As for whether or not $40 is a good value, if you plan to keep playing for hundreds more hours like I do, then I'd gladly pay $40 or more. I pay $391 a month for my car and I drive it maybe once a week. TTK is a great value!

It's not the money that concerns people, it's whether or not the dlc is worth $40, somewhat worrying considering cosmetic shit like the emblem/shader/emotes are "worth" $20. As for the countless comparisons being made about things that cost $40, that is pointless, you obviously are getting the dlc and you can rationalize it any way you want so you are far from being unbiased. There is no real answer though, because everyone sees worth differently, some people may see ttk as being worth $40 and will rationalize it any way they want, where someone else will see it as not being worth $40 and rationalize it as well. So who's right and who's wrong? Neither one is right, and neither one is wrong, this is a pointless and unwinnable argument that has cluttered up the forums in countless posts with people pushing their rationalizations on others.

$40 is also the price for reaper of souls, which I already owned Diablo 3. I didn't buy that "expansion" either.

I used to pay $50-60 for whole games in the 90s. The fact that game prices have remained the same while inflation has gone up means games are dirt cheap these days. No one should bitch about any price of any game tbh.

Its the principal thats whats up for debate. Especially if you're a UK player because £40 for the Taken King is the same price as Destiny when the game got released for the first time. Can't really compare with the American release of $60+ tax for initial release then 2/3 of the price later as $40. Maaad ting.

I support this post. Food lasts you one night. Play time for $40 is at minimum 12 hours per character. For me to go see a show at the theater with a drink and snack is $25 for maybe 90 minutes of entertainment. So $40 for a massive Expansion is good.
