They have to allow weapon ascension and here's why: 1. If they didn't allow it then there would be a whole year of content that would be considered useless and when TTK drops any player that has been here since year 1 will play TTK and be done with it in less than a week. 2. Why would Bungie take the time to nerf perks such as field scout, hammer forged, and perfect balance to bring them in line with current perks that have tradeoffs if all these old weapons will soon be underpowered and considered useless? (Especially blackhammer since no one will use it if it can't be ascended) 3. Kind of goes along with #1, but any player that was around during VoG and for launch remembers how boring this game was because of how little there was to do. I don't think Bungie wants new players to feel that way and wouldn't bundle up TDB and HoW if that content isn't relevant anymore. 4.) Exotics will be able to be ascended so why not legendaries?
