Not gonna lie, I'm getting face rolled. Lucky if I can manage to pull even a .6 or .8 KD.
The level of suck that I'm experiencing is astounding. It's all rather depressing really, since I feel like I'm bloody useless.
I'm trying to remain positive, but at times I feel (and likely wrongly so) that if I had an exotic primary, it might even the playing field a little.
I know this not to be true, since I watch players like My Name is Byf, and he absolutely wrecks people using Hawkmoon, TLW and Thorn with regular legendaries.
I know I'm doing (a lot of) things wrong, like not being able to judge how far away a player is to be in shotgun range (invective is my best shotgun right not sadly) and it just seems like I'm completely outgunned when it comes to the exotics I'm running up against (which is more likely due to me not landing consistent headshots).
The learning curve certainly seems kind of steep for noob players so far.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Update 25 JUL: Well, I tried my first Rumble match today, and while it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was going to be, my performance was still as bad if not worse than I expected heh.
Went 7-9, but everyone was getting destroyed by this guy using Thorn and Felwinters Lie (His ending score was around 23-8 or something) I'm trying my best to not get discouraged, trying to remind myself that everyone started somewhere, and this isn't like BF4, a game I'm much more comfortable with.
I'll keep plugging away, but I don't think I'll be getting Thorn any time soon hah!

Here is my advice master a gun you love...i use the last word( I know it's broken) but I've been using it since suros era and I love it even if it's getting nerfed I understand the need but I'm still gonna use it even if they burn it to the ground

I'll be honest here and say that I thought I was good at it. I played control for the longest and clash not so much. The other crucible play modes I almost never touched. You want to know what I gained from it? Not a fukkin thing except training scars. I figured it out the minute I started playing TOO. I choke when being pushed on and choke even worse when trying to play aggressively. Bottom line is I SUCK at TOO and its my own damn fault. Clash and Control hurts you more than you can think of. Do yourself a huge favor and stick to Rumble ,Skirmish,Elimination and Salvage. If you learn on those you'll do fine and not get training scars. Hope this helps.

Play consistently for a month. It helps I never did pvp destiny was basically my first game like this ever m. I sucked in the beginning. Like bad bad.....but now I get like 30 kills 2.6 k/d......all sorts of badges.....however the early days screwed up my KD big time. Keep playing control to get a feel for the boards, won't take long

I've been here since beta and I just starting pulling positive KDs about 2 Iron Banners ago.

This game requires more teamwork than any other FPS I've played (except Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter from a few years ago). It took me a couple months to get in the swing of things. I think I went from a 0.8 K/D to running 1.2 to 1.4 the last 3-4 months. Unless you're a top tier player in Destiny, you have to learn how to feed and feed off your teammates in PvP. Things that helped me a ton: Watching for gunfights and supporting a teammate will net you more kills than running around solo. Switching your setups to maximize your grenade, melee, or super recharge (based on your play style). Learning how/when to use melees and shotguns is also critical. Being less concerned about immediately capping control points, and being more concerned with clearing surrounding areas and making chokepoints, then capping the objectives.

I've always been decent. I have my good games and then my bad ones. Usually when I'm having a good game I'm crushing people. I don't play as much as I used to though. I spend most of my time doing POE or Raids since a lot of my friends aren't fans of PVP.

Il tell ya when I get gud lol

My advice is to join a clan (if you aren't in one). It is much easier to practice when you know you have a team that'll support you. Playing alone in PvP is a pain. Destiny is my first online multiplayer game so I was very new to the PvP world when I started. I'm still a noob. But I can manage around a 2.0 KD in just about every game (when I'm playing with clan-mates). I started out doing Control and moved to Clash. I enjoy the chaos and constant enemies to track down. To me, game modes like Skirmish and Salvage are the hardest. ESPECIALLY if you are on your own playing with randoms. It just takes lots of practice (learning the battlefields, how to handle the different gun types other are using, and trying to predict other player behavior). Re-roll your weapons to have the good perks for PvP if that's what you are interested in. I see so many people with legendaries that haven't been re-rolled and I'm just like you guys are missing out.

I realize that I play better as a Warlock. I also found a weapon that fits my play style very well. Trials of Osiris defiantly helped as well. All it takes to improve: Figure out your play style. Use weapons/abilities that work well with that style of play. Practice.

All depends on the match making, some game I pull off 4.0 and some game I struggle to get a 1.0. All depends on who you play against.
-
I'll get back to you on that... ...well, I'm not that bad but I'm not good. lol

I was horrible at first but thwn i got used to it, i maintain a kd of +1., trying to get a 2. Kd

Honestly the more you play, the more knowledge and experience you gain. I would start with rumble to learn how to win those 1 v 1 engagements. Then once you feel like you've mastered that, I would move onto a game mode like skirmish or salvage (if it's up) to play in a smaller game where you have teammates. Once you feel comfortable with how you play and feel like you can compete then I would tackle a 6 v 6 game mode like control or clash. I suggest going into clash or control last because 6 v 6 in destiny is chaos and not the best if someone is trying to learn. A lot of people seem to struggle with rumble but rumble is the best way to learn how to win 1 v 1 and when playing crucible those are the situations you want to get into. I know some people can get triple kills and double efficiently but in theory you do not want to be 3 v 1 situations. It would also suck getting matched up against a party of 6 when your trying to learn. It won't be easy at first but I wish you the best guardian.

A couple months. And I'm still no beast but I can average around 1.0 to 1.5. It's not easy it's all about the right guns honestly. Exotic hand cannons ie. Thorn hawk moon lw, and pulse rifles are beast ie. Red death messenger spar change etc. And having grenades and a rocket launcher with grenades and horseshoes ie tomorrow's answer or radegasts fury.

Never im still bad

It took maybe a week. But after that I started wreckin with my Last Word. (Back in October).

About 3 months . From zero to 2.85kd from September '14 to May '15

didn't take this guy long.

With control I've been pretty consistent as I understand my strengths. I'm the guy that supports the group. I'm not the lone wolf who'll take on 3 players at once and win, I'm the guy who'll put in work in the background and keep the team ticking over, defending zones, assisting in capping new ones. I'm Mr objectively correct.

1 RispondiModificato da KurtPanzerNader: 7/21/2015 1:28:33 PMI had a tough time at the beginning. Here is what I can share with you. In PVP you need to have your subclass set to raw speed, got to move fast. I was using mostly raid weapons and subclass build. It doesn't work in PVP. #2 just because other people is using specific weapon it doesn't mean it would work for you. My point you need to find that comfortable weapon. #3 At first try to stay with the group, so 1 man army is risky and dangerous. #4 Learn each map, know each route well. #5 Learn to use the mini radar map. Very important! Basically that is it just have fun! Good luck!

My all time k/d is MUCH worse than my recent. It's gonna take me several hundred kills to get the new calculation. I was horrible at first, mainly because I did nothing but PvE. Now I play for a couple hours per day, and just keep learning. There are also a lot of tutorials from good players on YouTube. This is coming from an average skill player.
