... nerfs like the Black Hammer whiff hard because it's more than a nerf to the gun, it's a nerf of fun, it's a nerf of the feeling of having powerful gear, and it's a nerf in the confidence that what you own will stay dependable and good.
When I first saw the BH drop for a friend I thought 'meh'. But I remember the first time I saw somebody use it to shred a spider tank and I realised that what appeared to be an average sniper had a very kick ass use. So I grinded to get one. I was approaching 100 Crota kills by the time it dropped. I had hardly been so excited. I hurriedly levelled it up and became a tank killing machine. Eventually 2 more BHs dropped for me and all of my characters had one stowed away for the right encounter. I even ran PoE and ascended all of them. Like Bungie wanted to, I invested in my gear, and my gear had my 'story'.
But now the BH is about to become a regular sniper, below average even. According to Bungie they didn't anticipate people would use it against bosses so effectively (which means they're either lying or they have their dumb stat maxed because how could you not anticipate its effectiveness against bosses!?). How is that OP? I don't see Sepiks or Sekrion on these forums calling for a BH nerf, who is it hurting?
This means that bosses will take longer to kill, yay. But it also means that my feeling of investment in those weapons is now nerfed. It also means that every weapon I really enjoy in this game is not safe, my investment in my existing gear is nerfed. It means if I find a really sweet, kickass weapon in the future, I shouldn't get excited and invested, I should expect that it too can be altered and reduced to below average. It's not exciting to play a game where you feel like a total badass space adventurer, knowing that at any moment the stuff that makes you feel like you're powerful and having fun can be nerfed.
Bungie doesn't seem to have a roadmap for this game. I dismantled my VoG gear because of the limited vault space and their stats were 'frozen in time' but Bungie went back on that. So I went and got them back. Then I went and sunk etheric light into the BH and now Bungie is going to change that. Bungie lack direction, the lack commitment. What gear should I level and ascend? What will become useless in the future and what gear will be good when Bungie decides you should be playing a certain way?
These nerfs aren't just to weapons. They're nerfing fun, they're nerfing the feeling of investment, they're nerfing the feeling of being powerful, they're nerfing my excitement about finding new and more powerful guns, but most of all they're nerfing my confidence in them as a studio.
I really feel like Bungie constantly do and say little toxic things that drive people away. The seem intent on making hard to be their fan. I've had about as much as I can take, my tipping point was the puzzlingly high $70 price for TTK in Australia - hey Bungie, while you've got the nerf bat out, why don't you nerf the price for your overseas fans? I'm not leaving, I'll still play pre-TTK content with my few friends who still play because it's a decent social experience. But my confidence in Bungie and Destiny has been nerfed, hard.

3 RisposteI personally blame Activision. They're simply all about the money. They also control Bungie. They're funding destiny and so bungie has to do what they say. If Activision says jump, bungie grumbles as asks how high. Then kicks us in the nuts because Activision said they had to.

14 RisposteAlso, explain how Bungie didn't anticipate the Ghorn causing elitism. They made the most powerful gun in the game and were very aware of its power, constantly acknowledging it's powerful nature, even posting videos of its devastating power ... and despite several other weapon nerfs they don't change it ... meanwhile they create end game content that requires the best strategy and gear ... they don't have a match making system and force people to find groups manually ... and then claim they didn't anticipate people requiring a Ghorn for end game content!!? BAHAHAHAHAA. They're either lying or dense. Theyet that gun go for almost a whole year before they changed it. Like I said, no road map for this game.
-
Instead of making harder content they just make us weaker to make the old content seem harder
-
One of the few times I'm gonna bump a post because I agree with it

Nailed it!

7 RisposteAnd when the black hammer gets nerfed there will he countless other guns released that will come up and people will get excited for. Best to ignore posts like this people. Enjoy the game for what it is right now, tomorrow can worry about itself.

3 RisposteI own Destiny on PS4, I also own the Xbox One and all I can say is THANK GOD Bungie don't have any control over Halo-5.
Bungie doesn't seem to have a roadmap for this game.
surprise? they don't!. they are still in the beta and are still trying to find out how this game could be a successfull idea. lets take a look at all the "tryouts" - Mistake #1: Planet material such as spinmetal and spirit bloom was usefull to gain reputation of factions.. (makes sense since the player provides them with material) they completely removed the possibility and made Material worthless its more of a harassemnt now and you have to delete it from now and then since you dont even need material for upgradign weapons so much - Mistake #2: Vanguard recommendations and crucible recommendations.. ONLY purpose was to slow down players from getting new vanguard /crucible gear in CE.. absolutely useless swince you can grind endless reputation and gain three ranks in a day and the marks will stockpile to heaven.. (which they did) - Mistake #3: IF you want to have all guns used equaliy there is a SUPER STUPID EASY SOLUTION to it.. make the "tiered" e.g. green tier, blue tier, purple tier, yellow tier.. and give all tier the same effectiveness. in this way the player can choose based on his playstyle and not on the effectiveness of the weapon and bungie you know how this is called? its caled DPS calculator.. so instead on nerfing and buffing single guns taht stick out, prepare an even playing field.. you dotn want the Gjalarhorn to stick out? great, buff Truth.. really: if Ghorn provides 6000 Damagepoints per rocket and truth only 4000, guess what the user will choose? so yes if ou dont want the player to prefer one weapon over all the other, make them EVEN! and a DPS calculator is a horrible easy solution to this.. - Mistake #4. "exploits".. seriously? hire players.. really, hire players to testrun your levels.. even the hutne rof little red riding hood didnt run in circles around the big bad wolf and shot him, he was tricking the wolf to drown in a well.. OF COURSE will players try to bypass any gunusage and push athoen of the cliff. thats the thought every player had latest the moment when HE fell of the map.. also lamps section in CE ? how can a developer team of a FPS not take into calculation a super normal grenade jump?? cheesing the bridge? forseeable., staying up for oravles? comes natural, pushing the templar? ehy first thought i had , the lootcave? first visit i was using this, just out of pure curiosity on how often i can do this.. so yes hire people that actualy play this game.. yor developers obviously do not play the game.. overall, bungie is still running from one extreme to the other trying to find their game... "weapon balancing" is 1-2% and not a 200% buff for shotguns.. thats the clear statement for the players "we at bungies, dont play our game". ! one thing i do believe.. when luke smith said: "noone at bungie considered the game as it is as "job well done".. the game is not living up to his full potential.." THAT i do believe..

I think Bungie just needs to find the system that will work the best for this game. I think they've just had too much time working with their Halo system where you had a variety of guns but only one for each set. Now they have a variety but a lot more then one gun for each. At first the stats didn't really play into much except recoil I think, then they tried to make them balanced but some error happened. It would be best to just wipe it clean when TTK drops. I know others want to keep their gear but I really think it would help the game out. Have the vendors sell all the old gear but with a new leveling system that will make all the guns what the player chooses them to be. My idea for a gear leveling system: Take away the attached character level, that should go up separately. Like how it is for level 1 - 20. Then have the gear all at a base level. I mean that each geat in that type would be the same when you first get them, obviously they would be stronger for their rarity. The gear would also have set perks like they do now, that can be rolled by the gunsmith/vendors. The perks are unlocked by experience that is given to the gun but the experience will only unlock perks, they will not affect anything else. But now orbs of light will have a roll in gear progression. You get orbs the same way, or a way to buy them with multiple currencies. You take the orb and feed it to your gear, this way they can say something about infusing light to combat the darkness or something. But back on track, this will allow you to bump one stat up, for armor - def, int, str, and whatever the last one is called. For guns - damage, range, recoil, reload, etc. Probably for exotics Bungie can just set their stats and maybe a perk tree that is can be changed out like our classes. This way we can literally pick the way gear works. Even if everyone has the same gear it all could be completely different from each others.

Well said and spot on!
-
Well said. I absolutely agree with your post and feel the same way. It's demoralizing to work hard for your favorite gear to just see it get changed. It absolutely takes the fun out of the game and makes it much less worthwhile. Again, great post I hope Deej and Cozmo read this.

People want fun guns, guns that feel overpowered but Bungie wants every gun to feel similarly boring and weak. Why get an exotic that should feel OP only to realize it is not even worth the exotic slot. Bungie decides this deep into the game that all of a sudden Ghorn needs a nerf? WTF!!! OR that all the weapons need a rebalancing? Something is wrong in mission control folks, alert! alert! Retards at the helm!
-
The only thing that changed is that you don't get your infinite ammo anymore. Is it that much of a deal breaker? The gun is still powerful, still has instant reload if you're good, and can still slaughter xenos. Just because it doesn't magically pull bullets out of the Cryptarch's ass that holds all the good engram drops doesn't make it a bad gun at all, rather this just seems like over dramatizing.

4 RisposteThe ONLY reason they nerfed all the good stuff, is because they want the mediocre guns they are going to introduce in TTK to seem better than they really are.

Very well said. People try and try to get good weapons. Then now we have to hate every single post about any good weapons we have cause if they are gravitated toward or anything they will be ruined shortly after.

Best way to fix exotics in Pvp,Bann exotics from being used in all pvp playlists.
-
I think it's funny what they did to final round on snipers
-
It's simple, hey can't come up with more creative stuff so are trying to level the playing field I guess...shank burn on a sniper, WTF??

I 100% agree.

Good post, good point. Lack of direction is what I see since the exotic shard announcement debacle, don't get me wrong, some direction changes were the right thing and wanted by the community but the announcements are most of the time to late to not have a damage done. Same again with TTK, most important thing should be the new weapons and the upgrade path for old legendarys and exotics, so I know now what to keep and what to grind for.

5 Risposte"Regular sniper" "below average", did we read the same patch notes? You can still fire off 18-24 rounds consecutively depending on the gear you have on. The only difference is that you have to stop and synth or kill enemies for ammunition. It doesn't have unlimited ammo anymore. Unlimited ammo is considered a cheat in most games. They're balancing the weapon. You mentioned hunting down three BHs, I know how you feel, I did the same thing. I forced myself to do three extremely boring Crota normal CPs every week just to get multiplies. I don't like the BH nerf but I completely understand it. It's a weapon that let's you avoid the intended mechanics of an encounter and that wasn't the intention when this weapon was created. This was a mistake on Bungie's part, sure, but they've got to correct it before moving forward.
