Anyone think etheric light will be cut out of the game for The Taken King?
-
Think they replace it with another item. Otherwise people could be top level by day one. They don't want that to happen.
-
4 RisposteI would be happy with new weapons that are good enough to replace the old ones. 10 years from now everyone still gonna be using a 2000 atk fatebringer.
-
The description of etheric light says that it upgrades to the max damage level in year one. Items don't change in Destiny so when year 2 starts, etheric light will do exactly what it has always done, upgrade to max damage level in year one
-
1 RispondiIt will probably be rendered useless just like all the past patches. I hate having to constantly relevel up my stuff....
-
10 RisposteAs long as raid gear will forever be upgradedable. Can't help but think it will be capped though. Which is a shame as then raid gear will only be for raids.
-
No, it won't be cut out of game, but it will be obsolete.
-
4 RisposteNa . Ttk will just provide the second avenue of ascending your weapons . As long as I can upgrade my old raid weapons I'll be happy . I can never let fatebringer go!!
-
It Will problably stay like this. Normal legendary gear is 36 light. Etheric light upgrade to 42. Then the new gear you can get is available to like 50 light or something like that
-
3 RisposteHopefully they will allow us to ascend exotics and raid weapons that's all i hope.
-
3 RisposteFrom what I have seen, it looks like the weapons will have no attack level, and their damage will depend on what light level you are...

1 Rispondi"I think that if you look back to my recklessness on NeoGAF, sure, looking at those things, like the Etheric Light occupies a really interesting place in the player economy, where it says ‘year one’ and we’re beginning year two, so there’s some expectation management that we’re setting there." This is directly from Luke Smith in his interview with Kotaku. Notice the phrasing "expectation management" what this meant to me is that it -was- time for us to leave our weapons behind when TTK comes out. However with armor he says something that's equally interesting: "If that’s the way your character wants to look, we want systems that enable that type of player expression and creativity going into Year 2. While we’re not going into specifics today, I’m really excited to sit down and have the conversation and for you guys to tell us if we screwed up." So I believe we'll be able to keep the current armor & gear we're wearing relevant in some way that we could still use it going forward, or perhaps something so we can still be showing it off cosmetically at least. But weapons capped at Year One damage I believe are going to stay capped. This would finally put an end to the Gjallarhorn problem, where they made a weapon so god like they can't possibly top it, and the only way they can possibly think to do that would be to make it's damage so irrelevant you can no longer wield it. I could be wrong however, and I kind of hope I am because I want to keep using quite a few of the current Legendaries/Exotic's I have.
-
I think since the next leveling will be xp related we can easily beat the prison for etheric light after we max out the xp leveling system and easier to max out weapons
-
honestly? no. what I see them doing, is having etheric light to get to 365, then some new material to add to the 365. so, from 331 you need two mats to get it to 'current' level. makes sense to me tbh
-
I agree with SteveD003. Probably we will be able to ascend all weapons to the max dmg again but not with etheric light. Etheric light was quite a success and theres no reason they would trash that again. Especially since they wanted diversity which would be killed if everyone could only use the new weapons and armor. Also they dont want to make the 2 older raids useless. Probably you can get a new material from TTK activities to ascend weapons and armor to the new max. Time will tell. Dont worry. Be happy.
-
Why does everyone think all of our gear is going to be useless? Their most likely going to give us someway of ascending it. Maybe not specifically etheric light but something.
-
They should allow the crux to upgrade old exotic weapons (or a similar material) and have it drop in the new raid ..it will make old exotics rarer to see used and but not obselete.
-
20 RisposteLet me ask a serious question for the cry babies who will lose snowflake status and have their panties in a bunch. Let's say they let you keep them "relevant" through out the life of destiny 1. Are you really going to be mad you will not have the same exact weapons to go through another 2 years of destiny with the same shit? Why don't you just play destiny 1 instead and no longer progress so you can keep your snow flake status. No one told you to farm anything you did that by choice. I personally want interesting new weapons that are not the same things. You all complain about recycled content yet want the same weapons recycled? No wonder why Bungie thinks you are idiotic wallets because you are if you want to carry the same exact weapons for the life of the game.
-
What will happen to the osirian trails?
-
I think it may remain prevalent but like ascendant materials and radiant materials it will probably become something useless except for trading at the speaker or possibly do boost.
-
Yes I think so. I think they are gonna raise the lvl cap enough for ALL armor to be irrelevant and also weapons. Atleast, thats what I HOPE.
-
Doubtful. I imagine that we will have to put in another etheric light into the current weapons to get them to the new level.
-
Just a xp boost useless when ttk drops
-
Prob dismantle for xp/ rep
-
I guess we can use them as xp..
-
yes , we will also all have to look the same .............. again i reckon they will also stop us from upgrading our weapons Atheon is also getting a sex change .......
-
I think what you are really asking is , will current weapons and gear become obsolete? I fear the answer is yes however i will use the gjallerhorn grind case as an example as to why I think everything should have the potential to carry over. This weapon is the best weapon in the game. Some may argue against it but they are wrong, they just became good players and found effective alternatives. I know this because that was me for the longest time..... Until I got it. It changed my experience. Having played many many many many hours and finding myself in many different situations that would have been different had I had the gun. I'm not a big fan of cheeseing but I now had the option. Soloing crota was now easier and bosses didn't take as long to take down and so on. Now let's consider those who still don't have it, or even those who get it just a week before year one ends and it becomes obsolete. They experience a very different very more grind based destiny than those who have the luck of getting it. Or worse yet what will be the new gjallerhorn? How many more players have to suffer the hopeless grind for that? Imagine never getting it. We did all pay the same price for the game in which one persons experience was much more positive then the next. All scrub jokes aside, not having the marquee weapon limited you in finding a team even if you were beast without it.
