So the other day I was watching some videos on crucible and out of nowhere a 30 minute ad came up. It was about the "greatness" that is destiny, and some randy was interviewing four guys from bungie.
I am aware that destiny is flawed, I am aware that it is a hollow repetitive game with excellent gun play. Im okay with that, im even going to buy the taken king because of how much I have enjoyed playing with my friends.
What I am NOT okay with, is how bungie keeps marketing this game as something it is not. "Expansive world with new things to do everyday!" Also "Rich story with new twists around every corner" wtf game are they talking about?
Destiny is a horrible story game, it has a terrible narrative, its clearly been chopped up and split into multiple DLC's it is made to be addictive, and worst of all, they lie to new players about what they will "actually" get.
That is my beef, the lies...
I think its time we players of destiny started giving bungie more shit about the garbage content we keep getting. It needs to stop, and we the players can make it happen.
Unfortunately, im sure no one will read this, and probably nobody cares.
Oh well =/
Edit 1: im surprised this even had more than a few replies. Ive posted before, nevet got any replies. Funny how life tends to surprise us.
I should clarify that I don't hate destiny, I was annoyed and frustrated by that ad. It was a bit much, more than just a white lie. I have a love hate relationship with destiny, I play it often as I mentioned above, it is still fun. I get that all ads lie to a degree, but destiny does have strengths, and I dont get why they dont play off that.
Mechanics, physics, raids, strikes, pvp, the co op experience. Things that yes we may do over and over again but we still do because the gameplay is so good we still play.
There is a misconception that you cannot enjoy something yet pick out its flaws. I saw the replies wjth people saying "stop playing if you hate it" I dont hate the game, I dont agree with the ads, specially for the new players.
I love destiny, but it is when you love something, and spend so much time with it that you are able to see what its strengths and weaknesses are. Just because I can point out those weaknesses does not mean I dont enjoy the game.
It is like me saying I never want to improve as a person, no one is perfect, but we can always strive to be better.
Is bungie doing the same with their game? Hopefully...

4 Rispostethis game had potential but because of greed they created controversies about it and in my heart it failed. bungie is no longer the same company anymore, they are only the same in name alone.

Hey, You might find this video very interesting... ..I know I did..

1 RispondiSo many people claiming they're addicted. They know Bungie has them on the hamster wheel yet they won't get off it. It makes me sad. There are people out there who think Destiny is the best game ever and the thought of that makes me sad. I feel bad for them.

1 RispondiPeople will always believe a beautiful lie, than the ugly truth
-
3 RisposteMarketing team is completely different than the people who make the game dude, blame the marketing team
-
Lol the biggest lie was "Become Legend" No, play long enough and you eventually become like everyone else.

Modificato da BERSEKAEL: 7/16/2015 6:00:06 PMA XXX movie has more story than destiny, lol Edit. Bungie should be honest. I am fine with no story, is just a good shooter game, and lucky for them is still the best game for ps4 due to lack of games.

100% agree.

I like your post. I agree, it's got many flaws. I specifically don't like the artificial longevity they built into the mechanics... limited materials, limited marks, limited light and cores. Everything requires you to grind the same limited content. And yet, i bought a ps4, destiny, dlcs, and ps plus for a friend 3 weeks ago so we could play together. I told him that the story sucks, there's intentional grind mechanics and little content... but the action is great, let's play. So now, despite agreeing with everything i said and adding the fact that there's not enough variety in level 20 guns and armor, and only 3 characters is just stupid, he likes it too. Someone seriously needs to do a study on this phenomenon :)

5 RisposteI hated that Whil Weaton interview, that guy was too hyped over Destiny, its obvious he never really played the game, just skimmed the story and read grimiore story theories. I only watched because of the part where it showed Dreadnaught having a supposed patrol exotic chest.

1 RispondiI totally support your opinion dude, sadly nothing can be done about it. Destiny uses the same attention grabbers that Casino's use, they keep you hooked on till the next roll. This game gives you a reward once in a while to keep you thinking that you're actually winning, the same goes foe Casino's slot machines. Truth is, we're just a bunch of addicts, plain and simple. This game has no base to support its own marketing campaign, nonetheless the promises that were made by developers. I was never ok with the Bungie and Activision partnership, one is a community listener, the other is money whore, not a good mix. Those who argue that this game has given us back our spent money in playing time, are wrong. This game has no replay value, Raid every week to grab that exotic, so you can Raid again next week with that exotic you asked for so long. There's no definitive story line, it makes no sense no matter what angle you look at it. You actually have to fill in with the Grimore cards to try to clarify some plot points, that my friends... is sad. The reason why I keep playing it, is because I still believe in what Bungie stood for when they created their company, player over money.

Lies can be addicting, no matter how bad they are. If Bungie hadn't locked all the extra content up from the beginning, this would've been a great game.
-
1 RispondiAlthough it is the biggest lie, I'm really addicted to playing this game.

6 RisposteGames always change during development. Why is this so hard to understand? The maps are pretty big, not endless but pretty big. The only way to get endless sized maps is to do what No man Sky does. Which is to more or less have RNG created worlds. But when doing that, the art quality is sub par imo. As far as the different worlds that were discussed. Destiny has a ten year plan. If they gave us the entire milky way in the first game, what would we get in the following games to come? As far as the marketing goes. Do you think they should say their game is small and boring? Of course not. The truth is it is impossible to create a game that everyone absolutely loves with no complaints. Easiest thing to do is stop playing if you feel so strongly betrayed. Personally, Destiny is a fun, beautiful distraction from my extremely stressful, chaotic, crazy life. And since I can afford it, I will keep supporting Bungie and their latest hybrid, gaming experience. Just my opinion of course. Good hunting Guardians!

4 RisposteI'm actually addicted to destiny tbh. I don't know what it is. I know how bad bungie messed up and the game is a weak 7 out 10 but... I... CANT... STOP... PLAYING.. IT!!! It's crazy. Or maybe I'm crazy.
-
1 RispondiAnd what makes me mad is the fact that they know we are getting ripped off and lied to, yet sadly, they continue to turn a blind eye and do it anyways.
I hate businesses nowadays
-
2 RisposteYea its bullshit!! You should delete your characters and leave the forums and not come back. That will truly show those lying bastards :)
-
3 RisposteIt's actually the gamer slot machine of games. You enjoy it but don't know why because you see all the flaws in the game that would make any sane person quit. But we aren't insane, we keep playing it so what is it with Destiny that keeps us here if all logic points to quitting the game. But I will say this if you don't have a love hate relationship with Destiny than you aren't playing the same game lol.

Just watch the reveal trailer on YouTube if you want a good laugh.

I need help explaining this to my friends. :P

39 RisposteTo anybody who says that it was just slight over exaggeration, not lies: IT WAS BLATANT LIES. They mentioned going to Saturn. Never happened. Remember that clip they showed of tons of loot popping out of a chest? Never happens. Remember when they showed the first area and explained that all of it was playable terrain? Have fun trying to get there. What about the "living world"? Well if you mean enemies standing in the same spot waiting for you to shoot them, then you need some perspective on life. What about their promises to make a better story in Dark Below? Haha, no. Didn't they pull that same card with House of Wolves as well? Oh look, now they're saying it with Taken King. I would trust Bungie with a grain of salt.
-
2 RisposteThe only way players can do anything is to not buy the expansion and you mentioned purchasing it. Not buying the expansion will be the BIGGEST wake up call for Bungie. That will force them to make changes to satisfy us, their bread and butter.
