Universal remote needs a buff

Ive used this weapon alot and for an exotic it is terrible. Like shit. Garbage. Its perk doesnt increase range even a foot and im left with a shitty fire rate so if the first shot doesnt kill (which even in normal shotgun range it usually doesnt) i have no time to shoot again. This is only pvp related however. Pve its excellent

    • Now that range finder and shot package are receiving nerfs the universal may be a more viable option :)

        I really want to like it. I really do. I don't understand why they wouldn't cover it as one of the exotics needing a buff.. I mean, they should be able to see just how few people actually use the weapon.

      • There really isn't a reason to use Universal Remote in any environment. There are a lot of really decent shotguns for the special slot, that it's a silly waste to eliminate not only an exotic weapon but also all of my useful primary weapons. It think, though, that it's true that the status of the shotgun class is partially to blame. I'm not sure Bungie knows how to do shotguns. There's never really been a decently-designed shotgun in any Bungie game. They are too purpose-driven and pigeon-holed. They are either all or nothing. If you're firing at an enemy outside of the hard-cap range, you see a bunch of 1's and 2's float away, and that is really, really lame. For Universal Remote to be appealing, shotguns will need a change. I suggest rolling back the full-damage range by a lot but extending the range for the damage drop-off. This accomplishes two things: 1). It solidifies shotguns as being excellent at very close range (leaving room for fusion rifles) while 2). giving shotguns more utility so that they are not a lost cause at anything beyond cuddling range. If shotguns, in general, get this adjustment, Universal Remote could benefit from a longer full-damage range as well as a longer effective range, so it will appeal as an exotic and primary without infringing on the rest of the sandbox.

        • For sure. The only thing special about it is that it's meant to be a shotgun with hihg range but all of the shotguns that they give out like candy in crucible have way more range by far.

          • What?? Haha Man did you get to use it before the buff? Was already like doubled in felt power .. Only reason I don't use the remote for everything.. is the slower rate of fire If you have problems with your shotgun damage-you might not be aiming well. Aim for the face

              • It doesn't need a buff. Not in the slightest. The stupidly overpowered Felwinter's clones need a nerf (which they will probably get). When that happens, Universal Remote will serve it's role as being [i]the[/i] long range shotgun. As it stands at the minute though, a handful of legendary shotguns are ridiculously overpowered and leave UR pretty much pointless.

                        • Lol if you get a headshot it equals matador rangewise. Crowd control is a beast. I've gotten two slayer medals with it. I'll take a buff though :)

                          • Honestly it's pretty good where it's at because it gives you an advantage over most players by always having shotty ammo. I would typically run out of special ammo all the time but that's not the case anymore.

                            • If you used it correctly you wouldn't come onto the forums crying about it, instead of being a kid using 2 shotguns or whatever and rushing constantly, try spacing yourself for once

                              • Even in PvE it haves to compete with other Exotic Shotguns like Lord of Wolves and Invective. Not to mention that Dead Orbit Shotgun and Swordbreaker both outclass it and doesn't take a precious exotic slot. What they need to do is either increase the impact so it performs more like a hard hitting shotgun or increase the fire rate to be more in line with Swordbreaker and other fast firing shotguns. What they could also do is make it deal elemental damage so not only can you destroy element shields easily, but it'll be one of the few Exotic primaries to have an element type like the Vex Mythoclast. It would be a decent gun to run in PoE for those who don't have a raid weapon and the clutch exotics like Gjallarhorn.

                              • The main problem is that it's damage is WAAAAAY to low for its also low fire rate. I would recommend giving it a 7% buff to base damage as well as giving it a field choke or one of its barrel mods. I would also like to see a built in shotpackage as a tighter spread would allow you to actually use the increased precision damage in pvp as right now aiming for the head will actually DECREASE your one hit kill range due to spread!
