I'm curious to know what you guys think of Thorn in PvP. Is it overpowered? Or is it fine how it is?
I would like this to be a respectful discussion, so please stick to discussing and not attacking and degrading others, thanks
I'll start it off. I think Thorn needs a revisit. I was thinking about the other Exotic hand cannons. The Last Word is a two hit headshot if you are in hip fire, and then the gun is a short ranged weapon. The Hawkmoon is a two hit thanks to it's perks, but that does not guarantee a two hit kill every time. Thorn does not have a range problem, and is always a two hit kill, you don't have the uncertainty Hawkmoon has. It's much much better than the other Exotic hand cannons! (That does not mean that the other hand cannons are bad, or that they are not fun to use) Another point is that many many people use Thorn in Trials and IB, and for good reason. This gun is very powerful.
Your thoughts? I'd love to hear them.
Your rebuke? I'd love to hear it.
I apologize to the regulars on this forum who have seen posts like this many times. I'm not a regular, so I didn't know there were hundreds of the same discussion

3 RisposteMy approach to Thorn would be similar to Trayarch's approach to the Famas in Black Ops 1. If anyone remembers, the Famas was in a very similar position. Top Tier, outclassed weapons in their intended environments etc. it needed a nerf. The nerf that came out targeted it's handling, subtle little changes were made to its ADS, it's ready up time, and I also believe it's recoil was scrambled slightly. The point is, the Famas is still one of the strongest weapons in the game. I feel if Thorn was to be nerfed, it should be changed indirectly, like the Famas. Maybe reduce ready up time, make the recoil a little more unpredictable, change its magazine size to the one it started with when Destiny came out. Nothing too direct, I don't think impact, range or even DOT nerfed are necessary. I don't want Thorn to end up like the Suros Regime, I want Thorn to still be a good weapon. Just maybe a little less than it is now.

too much range and fire rate is too fast but it isn't all as bad as people make it out to be. It is more a problem about other weapons having been nerfed.
-
Make the thorn have less bullets and less DoT. Nothing too dramatic.
-
4 RisposteIt's fine how it is.

Not good enough

Really if bungie just fixed the insane lag issues then there would be far less complaining about weapons being OP since most of the time it's the delay that gets people killed...
-
I'm more concerned with the lag/lagswitchers. Can pay crucible all week no issues then trials hits and its a lag fest. I can counter thorn it's just another powerful weapon, nothing you can do about lag.
-
Easily best pvp weapon but not as ridiculous as everyone thinks
-
I try not to think about Thorn. It makes me mad.
-
Its a weapon put in the game to be used so people use it. Personally i like to use other weapons when i can but will use thorn if i want to be a dick or if the other team is cheating.
-
I think all hand cannons need a nerf. Yes, I own thorn and I use it a lot on crucible. However, it seems that hand cannons are just over used in crucible in general. Anyone else agree? It's kinda annoying.
-
It's just getting old. Give me something new to hate
-
4 RisposteWell when it hits you across the map when your sniping it gets really irritating
-
Modificato da Syrious: 7/11/2015 2:17:25 AMI just want it to be nerfed into oblivion. Just so I can quit using it to counter another thorn. But, that's what I thought of Suros and now look at the situation...
-
It needs to be toned down a little but other than that I'm ok with it
-
4 RisposteIt's annoying but I can deal with it

6 RisposteWhat we really should be discussing is the abundance of OP shotguns. No should be able to drop you in one shot from 30ft away (unless they get a clutch snipe). At least most fusion rifle you have charge and get a solid it on someone to one shot then
-
4 RisposteOut of the hundreds upon hundreds of guns that have had their damage regulated for use in the Crucible, less than 5 of them have the capabilities to kill an enemy Guardian in less than a second. Thorn being the main offender. I find humor when people think this is somehow okay.
-
Shotgun range is a bigger issue...Thorn is fine, I don't use it but I never really have a problem countering it with many different weapons
-
ITS STUPID OP
-
3 RisposteFor all in concerned, whoever uses it should jam it up their ass.
-
1 RispondiThorn and TLW definitely need some tweaking, especially the effective range, but just those two, regular legendary handcannons are fine the way they are now. I really don't want to see another entire class of weapons ruined like ARs were....
-
3 RisposteIf you have to bounties everyday to even get a chance at an exotic bounty and there is a 50/50 chance thorn will be one of your options, then you have to grind to finish the bounty. A gun that takes all this to get should be op. I'm an avid thorn user and I agree it is op and it does need a balance but it shouldn't be nerfed out of existence.

Great weapon that needs to be left alone!!!
-
Should be buffed

1 RispondiMy thought is if im not great at pvp. Im about 50% wins @1.1kd+a. That plus a is a contributingl factor in winning. Thorn allows for assists and postmordem assists much easier than other weapons. I will use it when im having an off day. Other mida (outgun snipers with no lens flare) and blink shotgun works for my playstyle. So if you are "getting carried" or wanna contribute more use your thorn. Otherwise play with all the guns. Ive found I really like the spare change and 55a allfate and they arent even exotics!
