This was in no way a unique way to honor fans. Nothing done today was exclusive. You can watch that 30 minute mashup anytime... If you want to.... And that emblem?... You have until September to complete. Plus... I have the beta testing emblem and a Vanquisher from Vanilla Destiny. Nothing was special to the fans on this day.
For those not around in the Halo days, bungie used to host a playlist on halo where you got to play the developers in matchmaking, and if you won you got an exclusive armor set called recon completely unobtainable otherwise. They gave out flaming helmet pieces in halo reach permanently to players who signed in on bungie day. They gave flaming helmets to players in halo 3 on bungie day years ago. They gave us a free Halo multiplayer map before also on Bungie day.
This...? You know what I honestly think?
This... "road to triumph"...? It's an emblem. An emblem. Not only that, it's a marketing scheme. We crave what is exclusive, so everyone is going to want to get this emblem ... (which truly anyone can get) ... but to get this emblem Bungie is making you play the game the way they want you to and as long as they want you to.
It's to keep you playing until the taken king. They want you to play certain ways, and as long as they want. That's all it is.
Instead of being honored, we're just being given an emblem anyone can get for the next 3 months, if we play as much as they decide us to play, and grind the content they want us to grind. PvP. PvE. Public events. Golden chests. Whatever you don't like, you're doing it. Because bungie is giving out an emblem. And to bungie, whether you were a "year one" guardian or not, you don't deserve what they are "graciously" giving you unless you do all of what they want.
Shame. On. You. Bungie.
Edit: It's not about free stuff. It's about making memories, and honestly, I applaud the community playdates that community members are setting up. I somehow just wish Bungie had a Bungie Bounty today (they for some reason stopped that?) and played with the community much like how they did in Halo days. They also gave out these flaming helmets to get people playing on Bungie day. It encouraged the players to get online and have fun. I have my film clips playing big team battle with my buddies, speeding in a warthog with a flaming helmet, racing getting shot down by an enemy warthog chasing us with the flag carrier in the passenger seat as our team mate charges up the spartan laser, just to make the speedy getaway needed. Do you remember those days? I do. This, and the past couple... I sadly don't. Play with us Bungie.

Haha what were you expecting?

Well written, Anatamize. I was not on Halo in these days and was unaware of what it was meant to be.

6 RisposteYour attitude is absolutely disgraceful.

Bungie are not making you do anything. You don't need to get the emblem. And for the people who do get the emblem they would of played the the game how they wanted to. Enjoying all it has to offer. Which I myself have.
-
If you want big benefits from Bungie day then you need to be prepared to put your hands in your pockets.... Bungie will deliver something big if you throw £40+ at the screen, otherwise they do not owe anyone anything, beyond the pre-launch hype.
-
Yeah they hyped it up for people to get an emblem. One I probably wont be trying to get because Skolas is a massive dickbag.
-
High hilarity...all...the...way...'round.

1 RispondiModificato da iWasBorn2bLegit: 7/8/2015 2:05:25 AMDon't worry, they made a Gjallarhorn cake for themselves. Really, no lie.
No, they're not sharing.
Play the way they want us to play. That is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've read today along with expanding the grind. For most people, they just needed a few more chests which takes less than an hour. So explain to me how this extends the grind? I've beaten all end game content (minus lagswitchers of thornsiris) already. Most people have. It confounds me how ungrateful this community can be. Have you ever gotten or given someone a gift that they/you didn't like? If so how did it make you feel?

They should've just not given us anything at all
-
Get over yourselves

1 Rispondihttp://www.zazzle.com/i_love_being_entitled_romper-235255926633359280 I think it's even in your size.

Something nice. Is better. Than. Nothing at all.

2 RisposteWhile I disagree with you, you do have a point. But I feel the moments of triumph was actually very well thought out. Golden chests encourage exploration, the raid kills encourage what is imo the best part of the game. It's encouraging everybody to have tried everything destiny has to offer. But, then again, this is just my opinion.
-
8 RisposteYeah no I don't agree with you at all, I am happy to get the emblem! They could just do nothing.
-
2 RisposteTDB and HoW were reduced on xbox marketplace today aswell, Coincidence?..I think not
-
1 RispondiI'm offended that your offended. this is completely in line with their track record regarding destiny. shame on you for having expectations.
-
1 RispondiShame on you for wanting everything to be -blam!-ing perfect. What were you expecting? Free Gjallarhorns? Skype call with Deej? Subway Giftcards? If you aren't enjoying the memories you have of Destiny, then maybe you shouldn't be playing it.
-
1 RispondiThis is only the beginning of destiny...All those rewards they gave in Halo 3 was because they were going to let it go soon I'm sure that Bungie Day will get better in the next few years, but at the same time, don't expect free stuff from them and be thankful they did something to acknowledge their players
-
Activision day :(
-
I agree with just about everything. But I think your focusing a little too much on bungie and forgetting to saving a little for activision the publisher has a lot to do with marketing
-
3 RisposteYou could start fresh today and get that emblem WAY before September. You call that exclusive? I thought Destiny was Bungie's pride and joy. This is how they treat vets? Have they forgotten how to? Damn. This Bungie day was just...sad.
