Phorkas, Stealth Archon [Destiny Fanfic] (Chapter Four)

The long-awaited Chapter Five has arrived (sorry)! This Chapter features Shattered Mind’s character (read his story here). Outcasts: Chapter Four Dark was an outcast, he knew. He knew that well, he knew it personally. What he did not know is that he was not the only outcast roaming the fields of Old Russia. Roman-6, an Exo Titan. Records say he was outcast due to his extreme usage of Arc Energy, and unpredictable fits of rage. Due to this factor, he was given the nickname of Storm. It fit him well, yes, very well. He was deemed unfit for combat and exiled, but the exact reason unlisted in any documents. Now, he grazes Skywatch, oblivious to Dark. Slaying Hive and Fallen relentlessly with his scout rifle, Storm feeds another set of rounds into his gun. The heads of these minions of the Darkness flew off with each pull of the trigger, the rifle deadly accurate. He was interrupted, however, by an unfamiliar sense of quaking in the ground beneath him. Could it be an Archon? No, there’s no Archons around here. Only one of Omnigul’s Ogres could make a quake that large in Skywatch. Oh, but he was mistaken. Dark knew there was many a Fallen at Skywatch, Dark knew they had Ether. He would steal it. How could he get there, that was what he wondered. He would not fit through the short halls leading up to Skywatch, he would need to go over or around them. Surely over would be easier, and quicker. He heard rocks falling as he clambered on top of the buildings and up to the next, over and over until at the top. Then, to where he saw more Fallen. Atop all of the buildings, he could see far, very far. Further than any human eye, and further than his Dreg self as well. But he felt the steel framing of the buildings underneath him bending, some even snapping. Dark leapt from them, onto others, but only to see it would collapse underneath him immediately. He fell into the floor, not realizing it would have multiple layers. He crashed through the next floor, and the next floor, to the next and the next, on and on until he could hardly see the light above him. It frightened him slightly, he was not expecting it, but what he expected less was he had broken into a laboratory. Many devices, their purpose unknown to Dark, had just stopped working as he had landed directly on their power source. What is this place? The room was tall and wide, and now had a large hole ripped through the ceiling. _______________________________________ Meanwhile, Storm had heard the breaking and collapsing of the floors, surprised at how many the Archon had busted through. He stood atop the hole and looking down into it, barely able to see the Archon stumbling around and hitting his head on the ceiling. I can survive that fall, surely. I won’t even fall all the way down. He jumped into the hole, slowing his descent with his Lift every few seconds and landed on the floor above the Archon’s. Peering into the room, attempting not to be seen, Storm watched the Archon while it looked curiously around at the devices. Storm looked into the crumble of concrete and machinery, then around at the computers around the room in a circular fashion. My god, it’s a Warmind. He just unintentionally destroyed a Warmind… But which? I don’t remember Rasputin’s bunker being this far out… Snapping back out of his train of thought, Storm noticed: the Archon was staring directly at him. He stayed entirely still, thinking his movements might agitate it. Oh, you poor little Guardian. You think I’m elementary. You do mean to harm me, I know it. I’ll kill you. Dark threw a fist at the Guardian, who jumped and Lifted up to the next floor, and the next. Dark followed him. Grabbing each broken ledge, he hoisted himself up, getting a good footing on the lower ledges. As the Guardian leapt up and up, Dark climbed up after him and causing more rubble and debris to fall beneath him. But the Guardian had an unfair advantage. Arriving at the top, Storm slammed a Flashbang grenade at his feet and sprinted away, just as the Archon began crawling out. When the Archon attempted to grab the top ledge, he was blinded and fell all the way back down into the large room. “Shit,” he said aloud, panting heavily as he tried to catch his breath. Where the hell did that Archon come from? It was black, damnit, and a lot more agile than any Archon I’ve ever seen. I need to tell someone. It was too bad, the Tower outcast as the only one to find that Dark had just destroyed a Warmind, and become an Archon. But, surely Storm was not the only one to hear, to feel the Archon’s landing. Someone would come looking, he was sure of it.
