Seriously? It baffles me.
I'm not talking about the people who have like a 0.8kd, at least those sort of people can contribute to the game, I'm talking about those that get like between 0.2-0.4 how can they possibly enjoy playing it?
I genuinely don't understand, I am not at all good in the crucible but some people seem to just be awful.
Edit: Apologies, I rushed the original post between iron banner games and it didn't properly represent what I was asking, I wasn't actually getting on at people for having low Kds, it was more out of curiosity as to why e.g. Is it connection.
Edit: people are mostly saying it's reaction times and connection. Others are saying that their tv has something to do with it and steep learning curves, anyone else have anything that they feel affects them?

1. No understanding on how pvp works, they treat it like pve, thus, get slaughtered 2. Bad builds...there are ways to build your character, not just select the next available perk and not change back to a better one... Yay iron harvest...in pvp...When you don't even get to an ammo spawn 3. Weapons, that mulligan/double down/custom optics/ surplus/auto rifle is really going to help....not 4. Bad map knowledge, self explanatory 5. Bad environmental awareness. Running after an enemy, not looking at the radar, being out in the open...leads to many deaths There's alot that goes into pvp. If you don't care to learn the basics when you first start pvping, your going to get slaughtered

I was new in PVP and quiet frank still am, my kd speaks for its self. I think it's just a learning curve for most. When I got my Thorn bounty I decided to give crucible a go and I sucked with the highest level suckage, but I was still able to obtain that gun. When I use Thorn I do better then with out it. Lately I've been trying red death or spare change .25 and have been doing ok. I've noticed getting familiar with the maps is key, almost doesn't matter what gun you use.
-
I completely agree with you... I'm ALWAYS top of the leaderboard with 30 kills+ and my team added doesn't even get that much... It's so annoying
-
I'm not the best either but there is some days where I impress myself and some days I wish I was the dead gaurdian layimg down at the gates of the moon.:-(

2 RisposteIf I played smart I would probably be a lot better! But I can't resist rushing into battle 'naked like the Celts' so it never goes too well for me. I do think the better players have great anticipation from seeing tons of different situations. Just like anything if you do it enough you'll be very good at it.
-
2 RisposteBecause I am 48, reflexes have slowed down. Reaction time has slowed down, have no idea what my kd is and could care less if anyone thinks I suck at pvp. I play for fun, not some overblown statistic that means jack shit.

1 RispondiTake a look at my IB history with the Titan for example: Same loadout, no fire team and playing alone on xbox one. I am a veterant Fps player with good gear and average skill so I know I have to plan ahead. If you look at yesterday's session you'll see that one game I did 4 kills with a ratio of 1.0, (joined an end of game), then had two horrible game with 2 and 3 kills each. Needless to say, the k/d ratio was awful. Then after throughout the evening and night it got wayyyy better, I even scored 31 kills with a 2.smg ratio. I did a good 3 smg at some points. And the opponents were not exactly what you would call 3 weeks old rabbits. So why such a discrepancy ? CON.NEC.TION. If you have it you're God almighty on earth, if you don't then sit there and wait patiently for death. And the next game.

Yeah me too. I mean I have nothing against people who are at 0.8 or something like that. As long as they contribute it´s fine. Not everyone wants to improve at the game and someone just likes to play for fun. But my last games I´ve come across people that are genuinely crap. I´m sorry but how can someone have 2 kills and 17 deaths? Seriously that´s about 0.1 KD. HOW is that possible? With almost three heavy rounds and you have to have at least one super ???

I get to play my games maybe 5 hours a week these days. When I do, I'm usually doing PvE. But you have to do PvP eventually to GE a lot of gear in Destiny. So my problem is lack of time in Crucible for any sustained amount of time.
-
My uncle picked this up bc he thought it was an mmofps as they described. He had never played an fps before and wouldn't touch crucible unless it was for bounties. So I'm sure they're more people like this out there
-
2 RisposteQuit possible they are just brand new to FPS or even games im general. Just acquiring the muscle memory for PvP can be a while. Some may get through alot PvE content just fine but when pressure us put on its overwhelming. Ive just seen lots of people try FPS and you can tell its very hard for them. Just being able to sync multiple joysticks and buttons at the same time can pose a problem for new people.

11 RisposteBecause only one or two styles of play work in the current maps/game types. None of which are fun or interesting. I play IB because it's the only way to get Etheric Light without spending an hour on lfg then spending another hour hoping for luck on three nightfalls. If we had ctf, defuse, or a rush style of game play then we may see more people care to try. As it is, all crucible is either mid-range or shotgun.
-
If it wasn't for bad players you wouldn't have anyone to kill. They're doing you a favor.
-
Could be just there for bounties or free shit and dont care abiut kd lol
-
2 RisposteBecause it's as boring as shit and anyone with half a brain or an adult life couldn't be assed getting "gud" at it.
-
Well I have a friend named Benjamin irl, and his parents refuse to let him play FPS games, so when he went to a party with me, he had no idea how to move and shoot at the same time..
-
2 RisposteEveryone starts somewhere. They might be new to FPS games.
-
I have God sprees and bad sprees, I now have a .44 KD but I used to have a 1.4 about a week ago, so that's why I play, because it's a 50-50 chance I'll be positive
-
I used to suck at PvP and completely avoided it. I never played PvP games prior to Destiny either. My solution? Get over it. I kept getting blink/shot gunned so what did I do? Grab my hunter or warlock and used the same strategy. Everyones using hand cannons? Great. Lemme see what one I can find thats powerful. Everyones using Thorn? Hmmm. I think I'll go ahead and finish that Thorn bounty I've left sitting for months. Seriously. Just force yourself into it. Observe others.
Your aim needs to be true also, just an fyi.
1 RispondiIve got at least 3 guys in my list i know irl, and they dont play competitive at all, they simply dont give a shit. Its a playstation in the living room with several roommates, if the destiny disc happens to be in the ps4, then that is the game being played. If they have to leave or do something, they would just put down the controller and leave. Whether they are in a middle of a match or not. Tried carrying one of those dudes to get better gear; it was really tiresome. Its not like he's bad at the game or anything, but he doesnt care about anything. Doesnt pay attention to important things, like running the entire match with a full super without using it. Or walking into pvp with the wrong guns. Never mind telling him to use burn weapons in nightfall. So i guess there are more casual players like these. Those who really dont care at all.

20 RispostePve hero's can't cope with the pace of PvP and how unpredictable it can be. And most of all fighting opponents that are smart that use cover and can aim. Pve is so easy and boring it becomes trivial. Bosses are just bullet sponges and the dumb ai do the same shit every time. People that don't like PvP just suck plain and simple they aren't good enough to fight against someone half intelligent. The best players in all fps games are PvP players fact. The best pve player would get his ass handed to him every time by an average PvP player. Where as the best PvP can cheese any shit trivial pve contents.

Alcohol seems to be my downfall couple cans get better after that it starts getting worse
-
5 RisposteMaybe people are still learning how to play PVP, it can be very overwhelming at first.
-
6 RisposteI think its the style they decide to play. For example in control the people that rush down long hallways or try to sit in an open field are going to finish low on their team because the opponents that are peeking around corners are going to have the advantage of cover and line of sight. Secondly decision making, knowing when to break away from an engagement that is a disadvantage for them. Sure you have Thorn and a shotgun and you feel indestructible but you aren't and you should learn when to retreat to your team and lick your wounds. At least you haven't given your opponents any points during the engagement. Just my two cents.
-
1 RispondiI started off as one of those .1-.3 guys but I kept forcing myself back in there and slowly I started getting better and better. I have managed to get all my characters into the positive KD area and I watch it go up all the time. I still go negative some games but it happens a lot less than it used to.

It comes down to this, PvE is easier than PvP. AI bots are begging to be shot and there's usually a scripted formula to beat them with. And some enemies, one or two shots will do it. You rarely have to use cover unless you are trying to regen health and the bots are predictable. PvE rarely challenges your skill, only your ability to follow a formula. In PvP, there is no formula on how to be successful, it only comes with practice. People (usually) aren't begging to be shot and potentially have better weapon than you do. They are potentially smarter, stronger and faster. And with that, your situation is constantly changing. You can go from having a shoutout with one guardian to two of his friends coming behind him to help him and vice versa. This is partially why there was such an outrage at ToO and to a degree still is. PvE players don't want there skill tested. They want to sit in their bubble and shoot thralls and vandals, never daring to go into PvP, ignoring that it is part of Destiny and they are essentially cutting themselves off from half the game, then complain about how little longevity it has.
