I'm trying to git gud at sniping
Any advice, tips, or helpful pointers

Use patience and time.

Its better to hit than to not hit at all. Keep that in mind before you go thinking youre gonna be popping headshots left and right. The best advice I can give you is to know the head levels of known choke points. That will at least eliminate the vertical aiming when you are hard scoping. Once you get good at that you can incorporate the horizontal with vertical aiming to be more fluid. I have about a 70% headshot rate sniping in crucible.

Use the ice breaker. I say this because you have unlimited ammo essentially. So the stress of you running out of ammo is essentially gone. While using ice breaker aim for head shots a lot. Sniping is about Patience and waiting for the right moment for that shot. Don't fire like crazy that's silly. Once you feel a bit better about sniping move on to black hammer. And aim for headshots left and right. Every three crits refills magazine I'm sure you knew that though lol

If you're camping a choke point, zoom in and out to make sure you're not being flanked. This lets you watch the radar. For each choke point, there's a line on the opposite wall for where their heads should be. Find those lines. Get comfortable with getting body shots when under fire. 2 shot kill is better than no kill. I've found that having a higher sensitivity helps a ton with quickly scanning for heads and hitting them. I run 10 sensitivity just to get that first shot in.
