A skilled players thoughts about thorn.
Okay here it goes. Yes this is a rant/complaint about thorn. Your getting the input on a guy who is on ps4 who has been playing pvp since beta. Currently top 25 In the tracker on ps4. Here's the deal. Thorn. It's getting old, it really is. Going into a ToO match is a joke because literally every fireteam you face are all using thorn. This is a call out on good players. Really guys? For all you top 1,000 players using it. Your a joke. Thorn is a crutch weapon. The average Joes should be the only ones using it against skilled players like us. Skilled players shouldn't roll on crutchs because everyone else is using it period. I've never liked thorn and I never will. HAWKMOON. Anyway. Getting back to thorn. It needs to be nerfed already , it does.. A guy put together a based stat on teams who went flawless with Handcannons. 70% used thorn 22 % used last word, and only 8% used hawkmoon. Really destiny community? We're better then that. We are. Letting one gun rule them all is a joke. I suggest a very good way to smooth thorn out. I know alot of you thorn users are like "but tlw and hawkmoon 2 shot! Don't nerf thorn poison, it will be weak!" Here's a solid solution. Don't nerf the damage, don't nerf the poison. Keep it a 2 shot gun so it keeps up with TLW and Hawkmoon. Nerf the stability or the range. Make it a actual challenging gun to use. Instead of the typical 2 heads shots and run away tactic. Bungie get off your lazy arses and take notice to this already. You nerfed auto rifles because they were the most used weapons in the game for a certain period. Look at thorn. The past 3 weeks trails has been Thorns of Osiris. Fix it.
Before any of you tell me to get gud or call me a blink shotgun noob. Yes I do. I abuse my shotgun. Why? Because I have a better chance blink shotgunnin thorn users close/medium range then I do with hawkmoon. Thorns RoT and the poison overwhelm it sometimes. Don't get me wrong I outgun 80% of thorn users but that's usually when it's a 50 meter + gun fight. I just shouldn't burn out after I outgun thorn users.
Okay here comes the thorn defenders! Let the hate flow.

Okay I see alot of feelings hurt and people crying cause I made the post and they say I'm whining. I don't speak for myself I speak for alot of the community aswell. Don't think this is just another guy complaining about a weapon he died to. I rarely die to it. I'm speaking out for all the players aswell who have a hard time defending themselves against thorners.

For alot or you guys who can't read aswell. This isn't a cry about 1v1 thorn users. It's about their not being any diversity in the community anymore. So much toxic aswell from you top players in destiny. It's sad

And no this is not a ego Booster. I'm not trying to build up my legacy or polish my sweaty forehead. This was just a post letting the community know there are highly skilled players out there who don't use thorn and do know that it is ridiculous. I salute all you non thorn users. Keep it up!

1 RispondiAgreed im in the top 1000for K/D roughly across both consoles...it gets old it really does, so I've switched to Hardlight. Is it hard? Yes and some games I can't get going with it..but when I do there is a smile on my face because atleast I wasn't some -blam!- abusing thorn.

20 RisposteThink you're skilled eh? Don't make me laugh, stats in Destiny don't mean jack shit. I'm calling you out, 3v3 skirmish or 6v6 control, best of 5, you can bring anyone you'd like. No heavy, no FR snipers. Even when using the best weapons in the game, there is still a huge skill gap between players. I'll stream the game so anyone interested in watching this massacre, can.

I love people like you who agree that thorn is def overused and overpowered, Im usually a scout guy and I usually try and find a good team to run trials with, but after a while trials isn't even worth another adept gun because of how difficult it is sometimes to counter thorn so I don't even look for a legit team, so my regular friends (who I have to admit are def not the best) always ask me to do trials with them so I'm like whatever I'll just do it for fun. Pretty much I was on my team by myself, and I decided to give thorn a try just because they wanted me to, now keep in mind I absolutely dislike using the gun in every mode, but after using it with my skill level I wrecked without even trying, I eventually got bored of how easy it was and switched to no land beyond to have a lil fun, we lost after that which was our 5th win. But pretty much the gun does the work for it's self?! I did better "alone" than I wud sometimes do with groups I find on the forums!! Like there has to be something op about the gun, people just don't understand

1 RispondiEven though thorn is op, it is the best and strongest gun and that is why I prefer using thorn over any weapon, except for TLW. I honestly think TLW is better thorn but it is much harder use and it requires a different more aggressive play style.

4 RispostePerks on thorn, change send it for hand loaded making you choose between stability or slight range increase. The DoT change from 7 to 6 damage and make it 1 less second. TLW, fix the extra ads headshot damage glitch. Hawkmoon, it's fine. Maybe add a cool sound notification letting the player know that a lucky round was expended. Buff autos to slightly less than original stats. Dedicated servers.

I hate thorn, all my Too teammates hate thorn, we refuse to use it. Dying from poison a few times per game isn't the end of the world, its annoying as f*** but I'll beat em with my red death or mida, or messenger, or ghaleons..... or, the list goes on. I'm just absolutely fed up with every single game I join is just strictly thorn. ToO enemy team 3 thorns probably over 50% of the time, and when its not 3 thorns it's 2 and a last word.

Thorn needs adjusting however the range and stability thing is not going to do much. The reason I say this is because it's aim assist is rediculous. I run thorn at max range I don't use perfect balance and it absolutely wrecks. What it needs is lower impact. Make it a 3 shot with tics to kill. To me that's reasonable. If your good enough to land 3 headshot on me kudos. Tlw Wtf is wrong with its range it's simply broken and the ads glitch needs addressing. Once done that gun will I think die unless they up stability to compensate. Now most will say well people will spam messenger or red death instead and your right they will but you can strafe easier against it imo. What are people's genuine thoughts and not "get gud" I've been to light house on all characters actually add some decent feedback instead....

2 RisposteI'd love to have the hawk moon but I don't. And hawk moon is 42% for a 2 shot so..... other than that if everyone is using thorn doesn't that make it 100% a fair fight. Hawkmoon is better than thorn just a lot less people have it or it would be next to get blasted on. I'll be honest though I read post to where you said Hawkmoon and laughed and wrote this.

I pleaded that they wouldn't buff it because I knew any buff would just make it OP. Revert Thorn to how it was pre buff. Keep the 9 round clip.

I use thorn for the very reason that I'm having to combat them 90% of the time. I've had mine for like 8 months and only upgraded it recently. I wouldn't mind a NERF/buff to happen purely to increase the range of what people are using. It's getting boring to use tbh, I'd like to be able to use one of the many other exotics I possess or atleast be forced to go trial and error to find something new that works well.

90% of the primaries used in trials is the Thorn. 8% last word 2% red death or other. This is rough guess on my experience on this week's map. Hand cannons are to powerful. It's all I use now.
