Its pointless in the sense that it benefits the US in no way.

-
Equality doesn't benefit the place we live in? You're a fool.
-
Everyone is already equal as human beings. Its not like gays were chained like animals.
-
Yeah just forced to pay double the taxes because their union wasn't recognized.
-
Well based off the fact that our country was created from a time period where gays werent accepted in anything period and the country was created based of christian ideals, it makes sense why their union was unrecognized.
-
Yeah we were super Christian when God told us to kill all those natives, amiright?
-
No im talking about when the constitution was made which based off christian beliefs. No human at all is perfect.
-
Oh you mean the one that didn't let a black man sit with a white man, even though the good book clearly says to love all men as your brother? And when men were allowed to bear false witness against their wives, even though that's one of the big 10?
-
Like i said the CONSTITUTION was based off christian beliefs. Doesnt mean that every man will be perfect and follow the constitution word for word.
-
Tbh I've lost the point of this argument, and I feel like that's reason enough to stop it. Agree to disagree. You can let it go or get salty idc either way, have a nice night/day and don't forget to throw your money at the screen.
-
Ive literally forgot what i posted in the beginning. Im tired right now😔
-
I mean, if being a country where everyone is free is pointless I guess you're right.
-
Everyone already was free. Just because all homosexuals started crying for marriage doesnt mean that they were slaves or anything.
-
Oh so women "crying" about equal treatment and the right to vote were "free" too right? Just because you're free doesn't mean you're truly free sometimes, especially when stupid ass laws prevent humans from basic rights and shit.
-
No women were right to fight for voting rights because in the constitution it says everyone has the right to vote. Women fought hard for their rights. What im saying is gays always had rights but just because we live in a world where its common sense for a man and woman to be together, gays felt opressed when in reality they had the same rights as everybody.
-
So it's up to you to decide what rights are priority? If a same sex couple can't marry, how the hell do they have the "same rights"? Just because the constitution doesn't specify every single human right doesn't mean that they're not important and obviously having this bill pass just means that it WAS indeed important.
-
Okay but marriage not being specified in the constitution shows that there many more important things above it. Yet people are acting like its the most important thing thats happened yet and ignorant people comparing this gay marriage situation to when the US gained its independence.
-
Just because they didn't think of it back then doesn't make it any less important, those were simpler times and I'm sure had there been a larger vocal homosexual community that would have been written in and nobody would think anything of it. Sure it's not the BIGGEST thing in the world but to people affected by it, it sure is.

Modificato da The Architect: 6/27/2015 4:38:54 AMLook i can understand the gays feeling the way they feel but what irritates me is all the social media and all the people that support just because its part of a trend now. They make it look bigger than what it actually is.
-
Yeah but that's no reason to belittle the needs and accomplishments of the actual people it benefits. <3
-
I dont belittle gays at all. If someone wants to be gay, be gay as long as it doesnt affect me. But im tired of seeing how big people make this look, especially social media. Nobody ever gets this excited towards veterans at all and in my opinion they deserve 10x the attention than this gay marriage vote.
-
I mean, if you're trying to downplay it just because the media has nothing better to do... I get where you're coming from but to a great deal of people it is a big deal. A very big deal.
-
I understand just like how it meant to women when they got voting rights or when blacks were freed from slavery.
