Bungie: -and here's the Collector's Edition, it comes with a few extra items for those collectors out there that are willing to pay extra. Forum: What?! How dare they! I refuse to pay for the Collector's Edition, because it contains content I already paid for! This is an insult to long time players! If Bungie had any decency they would offer us the extra content for purchase! Bungie: We're sorry, here's that thing you said you wanted. Forum: *spits in Bungie's eye* You did it now. I'm going to have to tear you a new one for expecting me to pay money for this! Bungie: Uh- Sorry? We'll try to develop other things to give you for free. Please, just give us a bit more time. Forum: *begins filling a pillowcase with doorknobs* You greedy bastards don't know when to quit, do you? *begins beating Bungie with the sack of doorknobs*

 • Hate to be that person but you might have missed the point. -They're offering Year One items in the future only because all year one people realized they were being left out after they were the ones that truly made Destiny what it is and their complaining became too much. -They're rewarding the wrong people. Yes, newbies should be welcomed and encouraged to be part of the community. However, as I said before, if you're gonna offer rewards, make sure you reward the right people first and not the highest bidder. -They gave us what people wanted; the extra items. However, they're overpricing it. Even with devaluation taken into consideration, you can't possibly defend the fact that a few shaders, dance moves and some sparrow are worth the same price as when TDB or HOW were priced when they were also a novelty. If it would have been cheaper, people wouldn't be as pissed (although, granted, as a community, it's hard to please everyone) -Again, overpriced. $40 for an expansion? So I suppose that means TTK will be bigger and better than TDB and HoW combined? Bold statement, asking us to pay for an expansion that may or may not deliver. Once again, they're asking us to trust them...much like Year One people did in the past? See the pattern here? -Bad marketing. Right after that announcement, information about a new mission becoming available came out only if you're into Red Bull. This does not help them at all; can you blame anyone for pinning Bungie as a money-hungry company after all this? They're not martyrs. It's not like they're doing everything absolutely right and people are just collectively a bunch of ungrateful assholes. I'm not saying they're evil, either. There's no good or bad side. Just like fans rave and high five each other every time Destiny does something right, they are rand and grab their pitchforks when Destiny does something wrong. This is just too much and even Luke's apology is not enough because actions speak louder than words. So as the OP said, now they're literally offering us to pay $20 to accept their apology. Please don't think people are not justified to be angry. You don't have to agree or take sides. You can buy the $80 version and hey, more power to you. But let's be honest: Bungie did -blam!- up. It's not just this community that agrees, read any article about Destiny that came out this week.

It's not just this community that agrees, read any article about Destiny that came out this week.
It's all subjective... As it has always been. It's up to the individual to judge if this is a fair price, and to decide if they will buy these offered products or not. Are three exotic class items, that are possibly only available through the collector's edition or this new offer, worth twenty dollars? If they aren't, don't buy them. If they are, buy them. Yes, this has been one big misstep after another for Bungie (or whoever is deciding these price points and/or the offered bundled content), but it's still ridiculous to see the amount of hatred that we've all seen being thrown around here on the boards. This is just a game, and every purchase is optional, but there are some around here that are acting as if Bungie just ran over their kid. It's especially funny to see this same hatred being brought when those at Bungie admit they screwed up, apologize, and begin to take steps to try and fix things. I've seen plenty of people saying they would be willing to pay to get the extra digital content alone. All they wanted were the dance moves and exotics, and if those were offered by themselves they would gladly buy them. Bungie offers them for purchase and now there are so many people angry about it. As I've said this is all subjective. Was this another misstep? Was it an extension of an olive branch and an attempt to meet an enraged community halfway? Is it a calculated attempt to calm the herd? That's up to each of us to decide. Personally, I don't care. I just find the level of hatred being directed at individuals who are apologizing to be funny enough to write a humorous scene about. It makes me laugh. If it makes at least one other person laugh, then it was worth sharing. I'd rather post something humorous and stupid than add to the mud that's being flung around.

 • Yes, it's all a matter of opinion. Like I said, people will still buy the items, Destiny will go on. Does that mean they're right? No. It's our right as consumers and yes, loyal customers, to voice our disagreement with this just like people have every right to spend their money on those items. Honestly, I'm sure all of us can afford the items. Me as a 15 year old could easily afford even the CE by saving my allowance. But that's not the issue. The problem is that they're overpricing stuff and pushing people's buttons to see if they can get away with it. "Hey, you guys wanted those items? Pay $20! What, you said you WANTED them, god!" It's almost like a monkeys paw. Yes, Bungie doesn't have to listen to us telling them how to market their game and at the end of the day, it's a business. They have to make money. But they're doing it all wrong and this just adds to the pile of shit they're already in. The people who put their faith in them from day one feel stabbed in the back. Yeah, Destiny doesn't owe us anything but again, can't blame people for being upset too. As consumers, the more we let Bungie know this is not okay, the higher the chances they won't do it again and realize they need to change their business practices. Again, not like it matters to them but we do it because we still WANT to play and care about the game. Just not like this. So yeah, people are entitled to buy overpriced stuff (it is overpriced, let's not lie about it) but people are also entitled to say enough. These are not just random people either. These are faithful customers. Still a matter of opinion to others and Destiny but to us, it matters.

 • There's voicing an opinion and then there's throwing a tantrum. You're voicing an opinion, so I'll listen and reply. Then there's someone throwing a tantrum and insulting everyone that doesn't agree with them, that's when I start making fun of them. Everyone should voice their opinion. Everyone did and now steps are being taken to make amends. Is Bungie making the perfect move here, I don't know. But at least they're listening and trying to do something.

 • I'll have to agree with you on that one. Some people are complaining but fail to point out what they agree or disagree with and why, at least in a logical way. I, too, respect other's options as long as they respect mine. For what it's worth, thanks for replying in a polite manner. That's rare around here.

 • its even more stupid, we are all facing this shit because WE as the whole of the players LET them.. Gamezone perfectly nailed it:
At the bottom though, is a line that reveals a startling truth about Destiny's players, something many of you will probably refuse to admit: "Destiny consumers are used to paying a premium for downloadable content similar to this quest." Truth hurts, I know. You know why Activision isn't afraid of charging $40 for The Taken King? Because you allow them to. You've already proved to them with past expansions that you're willing to drop serious cash on content that many of us would agree should've been included in the game at launch. It's one thing if you're actually enjoying the extra content you're paying big bucks for; but, if you're part of the crowd complaining about The Taken King, you better not have purchased any of the previous two expansions because then you're just part of the problem. The new Red Bull promotion is just a product of what gamers have enabled greedy publishers to do.
• "Those willing to pay extra" = "Those willing to repurchase a game they already own and $40 worth of DLC's you've already paid for". Also, no free stuff has been given. All this is just damage control from the horrible feedback they were given. Blindly supporting Bungie in this shit endeavour just shows how big of a -blam!-ing retard you are.

 •
Blindly supporting Bungie in this shit endeavour just shows how big of a -blam!-ing retard you are.
I'm not blindly supporting anyone. I'm making fun of the level of hatred that I've observed on this forum. That hatred in contrast to the tone of Bungie's apology has comedic potential. You're reading commentary into a ridiculous scene that I wrote, which offers no such content. In fact, I would argue that my post isn't informative and provides nothing useful to the greater conversation. So who's the retard now?

 • Read your post again. You're sarcastically and satirically criticising everyone who is outraged at bungie, whereby disagreeing with them, the only converse to that is agreeing with bungie. If you think that isn't support, then there's something wrong.

It's not the actual motivations and outlook involved here, but your interpretation is definitely valid for you. The Destiny community is better at giving material to work with. The over the top reactions I've been seeing around the forums are funnier than people at Bungie backpedaling. If you want my personal opinion about this stuff: I just want a solar hammer. I'll pay forty bucks for that. Everything else is pointless, and so I will sit here and make jokes about it.
