Inspired by a post from what feels like an eternity ago.
Take a good look, community. Bungie as well. These were comments written about the community, by the community. One does not need to read far to see most of these posts are negative. Why? Simple. Because we (for the most part), are shirking our responsibilities as posters and are acting selfish, and hostile. Why? My guess is misdirected anger. If you're having a bad day and you need something to take it out on, doing so on someone who was anonymous while hiding behind a screen is a more likely choice than that of someone in real life.
There's a reason everyone finds this forum toxic, or poisonous. An example being that it's the same shit over and over. I'm a day 1 player myself, played in the beta even, and from that day forward, it's been a constant outcry of "Nerf this, buff that, AMA, don't xurn gear fags", and it's -blam!-ing apalling to read.
This forum can be saved, I believe in it, and I believe it has potential, but when I see people being hostile towards others, or posting "get gud", or "shut up meg", I see the exact opposite.
Yea, a random guy is telling you what to do over the internet, might as well start posting "troll", or "skrub", or some other boring shit. Go ahead, you'll sink this forum even more.
However, if you even have a shred of basic decency, then you'll listen to these words and heed them the next time you decide to post.
1: Don't post in threads you disagree with. People. If you don't agree with a thread, then simply don't say anything. If a thread has less replies, it will have less publicity, and will then die.
2: Don't make chain threads. If you see another thread discussing a problem similar to yours, post in there, do not make a new thread.
3: Y'all can be some real nice people when you aren't talking about what you're passionate about. Ex: thorn, gjallarhorn, etcetera. Help people out, and you'll get helped in return. Treat people like shit and call them names, and you'll be assisting the downfall of this forum.
4: Never attack an opponent. It's a debate, not a fight. As soon as you start flinging insults, you'll be destructive, not constructive.
5: Mute, if need to. Seperate yourself from any engagements. It's easy, and simple.
I've been watching this forum grow, along with its people and staff from before Destiny. This forum can be good, but the changes have to start with you.
Whether you choose to take me seriously or not is up to you. Just know that I do care for this forum and its people, and I want to see to it that it becomes something great. One person can only do so much, it's up to us as a whole to fix things.
TL;DR Just read it. I poured my heart out to you guys and gals, the least you can do is give me the decency of skimming over it.
TL;DR the TL;DR: Ask not what your forum can do for you, but what you can do for your forum.

What have the forums taught me? It's taught me that we humans are a -blam!-ed up bunch
-
I learned that cake can be used as emergency helicopter fuel, that all that is required to survive the winter in Antarctica is a used ticket stub from a Chuck Norris movie, that violence is the first and best answer to every problem, that blam is a very popular word, and that every weapon I don't have is a scrub weapon.

7 RisposteModificato da A Warlock: 6/17/2015 9:56:52 PMThat only 1 percent of the community play for fun and not complain what xur is selling or if you don't have Ghjallahorn. Who else is in the 1 percent with me?

Insulting replies have much more merit than constructive criticisms.

The human race deserves to be grinded into dust

There's a mix between extremely greedy people, and extreme fanboys that think 40$ isn't steep for DLC. The preorder options do screw over current players.

1 RispondiThere will always be people bitching

The human condition is pretty complicated! A large portion of people here are so negative and I can't understand why they continue playing let alone giving their time to hating on Internet forums. That by itself says a lot about people. Gaming is pretty different now than it was five or ten years ago. We get taxed on dlc harder now, and the backlash is harder now, just look how many people are crazy upset about the next price tag on dlc. "Gamer entitlement" is a term my buddy mentioned to me the other day, but the other side is that our little hobby has changed its structure of earning money. I think people need to consider that more. There is a lot of good insight and positive community on these forums too though, you just have to wade through some sewage to find it. The never ending nerf or buff calls, some of which could be valid, the deej hate (he seems like a nice guy just trying to do his job), the cheating allegations, the homeless guy who wants to sleep on my couch and in exchange will find me a fatebringer (really... Wow.)... I love the debates over gear, or speculation on new game modes in TKK. I love some of the comedy and strange stuff I find in here. Some of you guys are really funny, even if unintended sometimes. I love having some short digestible little nuggets of community to read between games or when I'm at work wishing I was on my couch playing. I think there is some cool stuff to see on these forums and the sense of community is neat. But there is also a lot of lame, whiny, adolescent complaining. You take the good with the bad. I think destiny is a fun game, and I really think they have this long term plan that'll gradually unfold. I have a lot of complaints about the game but at the end of the day it's the game I go back to more than any other. If I didn't like destiny I probably wouldn't play it, or post to forums or any of that. I don't care what a new player pays for dlc, I don't care if you got guns I don't have, I'm not mad when I lose, or if my connection isn't great or if my vault is full and I have to do some spring cleaning. Remember it's a video game, and even at minimum wage most people could buy the entail package after a day or two of work.

1 RispondiThat a very large chunk of the player base is harmful to the game's growth. All the hostility and elitism is not conducive to expanding the game's population. Also that bringing up any topic on the forum other than "Endgame's too easy" or "Crucible is just fine" is a tractor beam to every kind of trolling the internet has available, from git-gud-scrub to copy/pasting 4 screens' worth of complaints people have that's meant to be a thread killer.

People are alone and unfulfilled, and use anything they can to try to make themselves feel better at other people's expense.

Modificato da Dog_Of_War_1138: 6/17/2015 10:52:34 PMThat no matter what it is, players will complain about it. Example: complained for months that they wanted bigger vaults. Finally got bigger vaults. Proceeded to complain that they still weren't big enough.
Inspired by a post from what feels like an eternity ago. So, what have you learned from the forums/what's your opinion on it and it's people? No answer is a wrong one. Edit: So much negativity. Y'all can change that, just by changing your response. Seriously, let's try and make these forums better. Edit 2: People, yes, there's negativity, but y'all are the only ones who can change that. Please think about that the next time you insult someone's views or opinions. Seriously, this forum would be a lot better with more open mindedness.
To git gud
