What have these forums taught you?

Inspired by a post from what feels like an eternity ago. Take a good look, community. Bungie as well. These were comments written about the community, by the community. One does not need to read far to see most of these posts are negative. Why? Simple. Because we (for the most part), are shirking our responsibilities as posters and are acting selfish, and hostile. Why? My guess is misdirected anger. If you're having a bad day and you need something to take it out on, doing so on someone who was anonymous while hiding behind a screen is a more likely choice than that of someone in real life. There's a reason everyone finds this forum toxic, or poisonous. An example being that it's the same shit over and over. I'm a day 1 player myself, played in the beta even, and from that day forward, it's been a constant outcry of "Nerf this, buff that, AMA, don't xurn gear fags", and it's -blam!-ing apalling to read. This forum can be saved, I believe in it, and I believe it has potential, but when I see people being hostile towards others, or posting "get gud", or "shut up meg", I see the exact opposite. Yea, a random guy is telling you what to do over the internet, might as well start posting "troll", or "skrub", or some other boring shit. Go ahead, you'll sink this forum even more. However, if you even have a shred of basic decency, then you'll listen to these words and heed them the next time you decide to post. 1: Don't post in threads you disagree with. People. If you don't agree with a thread, then simply don't say anything. If a thread has less replies, it will have less publicity, and will then die. 2: Don't make chain threads. If you see another thread discussing a problem similar to yours, post in there, do not make a new thread. 3: Y'all can be some real nice people when you aren't talking about what you're passionate about. Ex: thorn, gjallarhorn, etcetera. Help people out, and you'll get helped in return. Treat people like shit and call them names, and you'll be assisting the downfall of this forum. 4: Never attack an opponent. It's a debate, not a fight. As soon as you start flinging insults, you'll be destructive, not constructive. 5: Mute, if need to. Seperate yourself from any engagements. It's easy, and simple. I've been watching this forum grow, along with its people and staff from before Destiny. This forum can be good, but the changes have to start with you. Whether you choose to take me seriously or not is up to you. Just know that I do care for this forum and its people, and I want to see to it that it becomes something great. One person can only do so much, it's up to us as a whole to fix things. TL;DR Just read it. I poured my heart out to you guys and gals, the least you can do is give me the decency of skimming over it. TL;DR the TL;DR: Ask not what your forum can do for you, but what you can do for your forum.
