The real problem with Etheric Light isn't how rare it is, but it is the activities in which it can drop. Nightfall is probably the easiest, but it still requires* a fireteam, and then it's only a chance at getting some there. [spoiler]*I know it isn't required, but it's significantly easier that way.[/spoiler] Next easiest is the Iron Banner. Not only that takes a significant time investment, but it is more difficult to compete at lower levels. [spoiler]In case the point isn't clear, you are at a disadvantage in the Iron Banner until you can earn Etheric Light from the Iron Banner.[/spoiler] Beside the fact that it is only once a month, and a player with a full real-life schedule will be able to earn 1-3 Etheric Light in a single event. [i]A possible improvement here is to add Etheric Light to the potential post-game drops.[/i] Next up is Prison of Elders. Guaranteed Etheric Light at level 34 and 35. But how do you reach level 34? That's right, with the Etheric Light that's significantly difficult to obtain before you reach level 34 anyway. This activity also requires* a fireteam. [i]Improvements to this activity could be along the lines of Etheric Light being a guaranteed drop from level 32, or just a potential drop from the Large Chest.[/i] Then we have the Trials of Osiris. A legitimately competetive game-type (cheaters aside). In order to get the packages with Etheric Light, you need to do quite well in Trials, not something that most players can do. And we get the level advantage issue again. [i]I don't have a problem with Trials as it is, the problem is that there are too few other options to obtain Etheric Light.[/i] The problem with Etheric Light isn't how rare it is, (it really isn't all that rare,) it is that many players can't realistically complete the activities that produce Etheric Light, at least not until they get some Etheric Light to level up a little first. Just imagine if you needed Radiant Material to level up vendor gear in TDB? Etheric Light is [basically] guaranteed pm from high level activities like 34+ PoE and Trials of Osiris, that's fine. But it also needs to be possible to obtain it outside of these activities. Here are my suggestions: Legendary engrams might contain Etheric Light. Possible drop from Large Chest in PoE 32+ Possible drop from any exotic drop chance. (Gorgon chest, Atheon, Deathsinger, Crota) Possible post-game reward in the Iron Banner (? Rank 3+) And this last one is more complicated. Daily Public Event and Faction reward packages can contain an Etheric Shard. The Speaker will exchange 7-10 Etheric Shards (plus some glimmer, and maybe Motes) for 1 Etheric Light.

Well, I was shocked to see you have a 2 K/D. My K/D is similar to yours and I also don't enjoy Iron Banner. The lag is always much worse than in regular Crucible. Too many deaths feel like they were unfair. My performance in Iron Banner is never consistent. I feel that the connection is the problem.

You have a 2.1 KD. And you've played as much crucible as I have. That is a lot. How do you not like Iron Banner?

FYI, I played iron banner as a 32 (used some different armor for fun) and didn't have any issue contributing. Not saying the roughly 2% debuff doesn't hurt, but it's very small

I hear ya. I got lucky to be honest. First, I fully upgraded an exotic - 32.5 then I did a level 32 POE to get armor core = 33 here is where my luck came in: I got an etheric from a Nightfall! = 33.5 (actually got another one from NF last week too - crazy!) waited till the next week, ran 32 POE again for next armor core = 34 Obviously, the NF saved me a week, but assuming he sells boots for the armor core tomorrow, you could have basically gotten all your characters to 34 just by doing the level 32 POE. then, when you are a 34, you can do 34 and 35 POEs for guaranteed etherics to level up Fatebringer, etc. It's kind of odd, this whole etheric light thing. not sure what to use it on? I have a few in my vault right now just waiting. Like last week, Skolas was void burn, so I used etheric on my Praedyths Revenge sniper, a gun I NEVER used before. then I went to try Skolas with LFG, and was told to get out because "Praedyths sucks" - go figure) so it's like you're waiting to see what burn modifiers are / what works best for Skolas in a given week, then level that weapon up. at least, that's what I'm doing.

You dont need friends for iron banner

this past week has been the BEST!! I got 4 Etheric light from iron Banner and I finally got 3 34s so I did 34 Poe and got 3 etheric light from that. :)))
