Held Hostage by Bungie for Etheric Light
Here is my dilemma, I do not have loads of friends willing (or sometimes even able) to aid me in ToO or PoE. Not only that, but in order for me to stand a chance in ToO, PoE, and even Iron Banner, I require etheric light....which can near only be obtained through said activities. I've yet to get any etherlight (calling it that now) through the Nightfalls. So here I am, getting stomped game after game after game in the Iron Banner, grinding just to purchase a single etherlight, and grind some more to purchase another. I'm what would normally be the kind of player that likes to play solo. But Destiny isn't that kind of game, and doesn't take kindly to my type. These past Iron Banners have not been any fun :'(

Just go on lfg. That's what I have done since my very first VoG experience.

Yeah i mean if you refuse to make friends or use lfg sites than your really playing the wrong game. Sure you can play some parts of destiny solo but if you really want the most out of the game then your gonna need to learn to open up to people and make friends, there really isnt anything bungie can do about this its all upto you guardian.

For ToO all you need is a lag switch, the Internet savvy to DDOS, and the determination to 'do anything to win'. Iron Banner yields 6 EL if you have 3 characters and the stomach for less violent cheaters. Make some friends on Dragon and the like. You can then legitimately achieve your goals without cheating. You will be more proud of your rewards for you would have actually worked for them. You will make friends and, hopefully, be able to enjoy Destiny more fully... I recommend the second and last suggestion. Unfortunately, a lot have preferred the first!

I've only completed PoE 34 once but have nabbed 6 etheric light from iron banner. Your overall crucible stats are way better than mine so I'm a little surprised you didn't like the last iron banner. Maybe run the PoE 32 a couple of times for the armour core as well though as that's a help ? I have seem etheric light drop once from nightfall, but it wasn't for me. I wouldn't inflict myself on a trials team unless we were all just doing it for laughs.

Not bashin you but the same way you made the effort to post this rant, go over to "recruitment" and post LF on the desired end game activity. I get a response within 5 mins EVERY TIME . No ones friends are always available, utilize the forums for somethin better than venting your lack of etheric light lol

I was level 34 about 3 hours after the DLC dropped, which was either worlds first or one of the worlds first 10 level 34s. You know how it was done..? Went in, got access to PoE. Did 28, 32, and 34 PoE. Acquired armor core, bought gauntlets. Upgraded and exotic near the beginning too. Got a etheric light from 34 prison as a level 33. Then, finally I ran a nightfall and got Etheric light all in around 3 hours time. If you're complaining that it's hard to get to 34 now, then I am just glad for your sake that you weren't around for Vanilla Destiny, as it sounds like you weren't.

You know I never get posts like these. Destiny was marketed as a game you play with friends. You were goddamned warned about this going in, stop complaining, make some better friends.

3 RisposteA 'solo' player has never been able to hit the level cap without IB. Level 30 required VoG, level 32 required CE, and 34 requires ToO/ PoE. Level 34 is easily the easiest level cap to get to so far. Whilst I despise LFG for some of the ridiculous requirements people put up, getting a group for 32 PoE is easy. Hell, if your on 360 or the One, I'll do PoE 32 with ya if ya need it.

Firstly create 3 characters. Secondly, every piece of stock armour is now lvl32. Put the time in and farm marks OR run Crota's End for lvl32 armor. Once you're at 32, Do Poe32 for lvl 34 amour, upgrade an exotic to reach lvl 33 and then do the lvl 34 PoE for etheric light. The path to 34 isn't hard to map out. There are lots of people looking to do raids, marks can be farmed from strike playlists and nightfalls etc.

This is a nice post, I understand this frustration. It is maybe unfortunate but Destiny is really just not designed to play alone, you might have a better time with somethi ng like The Witcher or Arkham Knight.

This guy HAS a 34 Banner can be done without a communicating team to level 5. I got all 3 of my char to 5 this week and did it ALL solo. You can use lfg to get teams to doe 34 poe which awards a light each week. You do NOT need light to upgrade exotics to 365. Use a 365 thorn or breaker in IB and just adapt your style

2 RisposteYou can do lvl 34 PoE as a lvl 33 which doesn't require etheric light. That's how I got my first piece of etheric light. But if you just have want to get to 34 do the 32 PoE to get the armor cores and get the armor from variks which is already lvl 34. ToO also doesn't require lvl 34 because lvl 33 isn't that big of a disadvantage and going 9-0 doesn't have to happen just getting to five wins also will allow you to get a piece of lvl 34 armor. One last thing if your have problems with finding people to play use LFG it's eorks wonderful long and helps you find friends to play destiny with. Hoped I answered your question :)

You don't need to be 34 to do any of those activities. We ALL suffered through doing a 34 or 35 PoE as a level 33. Being at a 2 level deficit that first week was brutal and it took a long time but we beat it. Well those of us with Gjallarhorn did anyway. And now there's no burns so you can't be one shot killed by a Boomer Knight, Thrall's melee, Psion melee, or any sniper. So despite all the people saying PoE is harder without burns is simply not well equipped to do it without "burning" Skolas instantly. It's easier now overall but the boss fight takes longer.

Dunno about needing it for iron banner. I did ok with my 30 warlock. Sure I got beat bad on some games, but I felt the other team was truly that. A team communicating. Get stomped every time by that. More etherlight would be nice, but doesn't make or break the game.

I got my ass handed to me all week by 32s in IB. Mostly by shotgunners, snipers, FoH and Bladedancers. But still.

Know your pain (I'm flying solo too and hunting for e/light). I would have suggested grinding Iron Banner for it (1 available to buy at rank 3 and then at rank 5 on each character). Quality of opponent has varied wildly, some teams obviously know what they are doing and others are in the same boat as me (not a fan of pvp in general). Eventually you will rank up.
