So this is something that's been bothering me for quite some time, and yet people still somehow manage to believe quite the opposite to what I've found playing Destiny. But I don't see how they can refute my points, having experienced the problems firsthand, without providing some sort of support for their argument. The most I ever get out of them is "Have you even played a Titan" or "Just delete your Titan then" but I fail to see these as counter arguments moreso than just trolling.
I want Titans to be the powerhouse they are meant to be, not the laughable circle-dancing and Fist of Panic retards of the battlefield Bungie has come to portray them as, they are above the depictions Bungie has given them, but because of a lack of general agreements probably by biased players trying to keep their Warlucks or Huntards more competitive in PvP, my voice and many others get drowned in a sea of rampant naysayers. So I'm going to do my best to make the point clear: we are underpowered in almost every sense of the word, with few exceptions.
Here are my points and how they reflect on the game as it is now, along with several other objections to critical game decisions they've made with an obvious agenda towards aiding Warlucks over Hunters and especially Titans as a whole. I'm sure they'll disregard these allegations as falsehoods, but I call them as I see them, and I've seen much and more in Destiny.
Stat Distribution: Inherently Hunters and Warlucks have the best stat distribution towards PvP (and arguably PvE depending on your playstyle,) but this isn't incredibly obvious until you start to realize how this affects gameplay. As a Titan, even with maximum Agility you are still slower than the competition and lack Blink in all shape and form. Which means your ability to close the gap for a Melee fight (our alleged forte,) is rendered almost impossible. Meaning our intended combat orientation to begin with is flawed. We cannot fight in melee range if we cannot outrun those among us who will kite our melee abilities and pick us off with their ranged abilities.
Blink vs Shoulder Charge: To iterate further on the problem behind Blink, I'd simply like to suggest how Blink and Shoulder Charge work and their viability, starting with Blink. Sure, you could say there's a skill cap, but beyond that it's an incredible asset to your arsenal which allows you to close gaps or create them in massive bursts with high Agility. The efficiency of Blink is roughly 90% I'd say, meaning that it works as intended 90% of the time, either getting you into Shotgun 2-Shot range on your opponent or safely removing you from this treacherous range in a single rapid movement.
Shoulder Charge on the other hand, has about a 50%~60% efficiency, meaning approximately 55% of the time it's working as intended, you secured a kill. But if you realize Shoulder Charge not only makes you glue bright blue as a dead giveaway, but also forces you to run straight into your enemy, you realize it is single-handedly the most easily counterplayed ability in the game: just move the opposite direction it is coming. It works best with the element of surprise, but this element is taken away by how easily you are seen preparing this ability.
In short, it's hardly as efficient as Blink, and never will be as good because it can't trade with Shotguns. "A fist is better than any gun at close quarters." Just how close are we talking? Do I have to be kissing the guy I intend to kill for it to be considered close? If I'm generating a thunderclap with my movements, I'm likely moving with enough force to overcome the buckshot and kill the interloper with my body's excessive force. So with two supporting reasons as to why it should be better, why is it anything but lackluster and a poor choice to try and employ within Crucible?
Exotic Selection: We've seen a very common trend in Hunters and Warlocks getting better selections for PvP than Titans in general. While you can argue the Feedback Fence or Eternal Warrior are choice for PvP, they're honestly directed more at PvE players if you check out the secondary and tertiary perks on them. Yet when you look at Nothing Manacles, The Ram and Purifier Robes, you see a very obvious agenda for making them the new PvP powerhouses. Even Hunters have been given particularly beneficial options.
But let's dig deeper, because it's not just about the kind of perks, but the amount of additional perks within the single perk for some pieces. Khepri's Sting for example, provides Stalker while also providing Backstab. While this isn't to say they act independently, they still obviously worked it to give them multiple boons in a single perk. The Ram is the biggest culprit, sitting on what I could call 3 or 3.5 perks: Increased Armor (enough to survive Shoulder Charge and Rockets in some cases,) as well as Life Steal, meaning they can couple it with Soul Rip or The Surge. But what's worse is they made the Life Steal on hit; once again they've given Warlucks an easy-mode melee superiority against Titans.
Since when should Warlucks be able to outfight a Titan in melee combat? How does this even make sense to give to a Warluck? If anything it would've made more sense to give Titans Force Barrier on hit on one of their items, (maybe they intend to do this with No Backup Plans, would be great to see, but I doubt they'll give Titans the luxury treatment they give Warlucks,) but instead they give it to their precious gem, and they do what they can for Hunters without making them too competitive against Warlucks...

I main titan. My favorite class is defender. I have more time and kills on my titan than my hunter and warlock combined. I feel most at ease and comfortable while playing titan. But look at my stats. My hunter has a better k/d in control and my warlock has a way better k/d in trials which is arguably the most competitive mode. In a way yes Titans are a little weaker compared to the other class in terms of raw killing power, but Titans are supposed to be the front line. The play makers. First ones in, and we don't come out. Titans fight, hunter flank and warlocks are like a bit of a mix.
-
Woah bud, Titans and Warlocks are both beasts, lets keep the ties strong. Id rather have the titans on our side still.
-
Titans are great in pvp and can get around the map the fastest u just dont do it the normal way lighting nades are op they have the best jumps, overall have a lot of good qualities bit like the other cases I suppose
-
12 RisposteBefore you hate me for what I have to say, let me tell you that I have all classes and use them all in PVP (flawless them all too in Trials). In my opinion, the force barrier needs to be changed to on hit but you are wrong about the whole speed thing. With a titan if you jump, wait until your character is at that point in the air that you can activate lift to push you forward instead of up or down and you will out speed a bladedancer sprinting on full speed stats. You are aware that you have shoulder charge right? Its the only one hit melee kill in the game and it isn't hard to sprint around a corner and get a free kill. As I despise shotguns and always have my sniper, I have no defence against a Titan sprinting around a wall to come back and shoulder charge me. It is literally the most OP thing in PVP. It isn't hard to time it either and you can aim straight down vertically when jumping over someones head to do it. When I was on heavy ammo once I noticed red coming for me on my radar, my first response was to back off and get ready but the titan did a little run around and one hit me, what the hell was I supposed to do? I should have just tripmined myself to stop him getting free points for his team. And no, it isn't easy to dodge a shoulder charge as even if you jump up or step to the side, no matter what direction they have to aim a shoulder charge at you, it will hit, even if its straight up. Its not supposed to be a mobility skill either, its meant to be an attack so you can't compare it to blink in this way. Exotics are horrible for the titan, whoever is in charge of the team overseeing exotic armour should just be replaced. Extra damage from shoulder charge? What the hell, its already a one hit in PVP and on the lower tier mobs in PVE, why the hell would you shoulder charge a high tier enemy, to get killed? What were they thinking. The range of a titans punch is horrible, yes... but storm fist can one hit people, I have one hit people with it before. If force barrier was an on hit ability rather than from a kill, it would beat the warlock in a melee fight every time. Warlocks health regens, titan gets an overshield. But that would only work if they upped the titans punch range to that of the hunter's knife range. It annoys me that you call Warlocks Warlucks.... I use all classes and I can tell you now, if you aren't on a titan and you play PVP against titans, you start to realise how good their abilities actually are... they just need a bit of change to work more effectively.

Wow never thought od have so many flaws to point out in your post. First of all shoulder charge goes through my shotgun shells everytime they activate around a corner so busted. The glow effect on shouldercharge shouldnt matter because if you are seen by your target before u hit them than you are doing it wrong. Shoulder charge and blink are not intended to be similar. Titans are shotgun melee specialists as in you wait around a corner or slide a corner to shotty and melee combo a target. Increased control lift pushes u around the map faster than any jump ability. Blink can only be used 2times in before cooldown (verry annoying BTW jumped off a clif due to a lack of a third blink being an option while running from a GG) And as far as gear goes you listed off PvE effective gear that has a use in PvP not PvP based exotics. Purification robes for exaple are 100% PvE intended so that a warlock can self res when surrounded by attacking enemies and not get instantly killed by the lot and fail at its one good feature. I even played against a lock using them in trials we stood behind a wall and werent flashed oo magic. While i agree titans dont have a blink to close the gap in the wide open with a shotty you also shouldnt be out there doing that. And clearly a titan cant be gaster than hunters and warlocks since they carry so much more armour. Titan fist of havoc wrecks with unstopable. And bubble with helm s13 is a grand pvp helm(again based for PvE like all other exotics) They may have gotten more attention but nothing is tipping the scale

As the game gets better, the more I'm repelled by Bungie's thought process in game design.
-
Blinding bubble.

3 RisposteBump, for Kabr

2 RisposteSaints 14. PVE god. PVP hilarity. People that are aware of the helm will usually leave the bubble alone. Funny to watch some actually flat out run away from a bubble. Bad experiences I guess...I do horrible things to people in the thunderdome.

2 RisposteWhy do warlocks have the ability to get an over shield on hit while titans have to get a kill? Why do warlocks have an over shield in general? I feel like titans should be the only class to have this.
-
2 RisposteYou disrespect warlocks.. Is warlocks are modest of our classes! Someone fights we ignore, and remember that's we actually passed college :)

1 RispondiModificato da Ace of Destiny: 6/5/2015 9:57:45 PMHere is a little idea I have been wanting to see... What if the Mk.44 Stand-Asides (The Exotic Legs that Make Shoulder Charge a little better.) also gave us the perk that gives Titans the forward-facing shield when running (Juggernaut)? Then Titans might, I say might, be able to close the gap before getting shotgunned and be able to use our should charge. Just a thought.
-
Praise the Sun. Just kidding. Just made a Titan yesterday as my 3rd character.
-
1 RispondiTl;dr Titans are generic mister chefs. They are fine where they are at.
-
3 RisposteThe storm fist is terrible and defender's melee is simply outclassed by the warlock one which triggers on hit. I wanted to be a titan but found I was hurting myself. So I had to switch. Bump. Fvcking warlocks at Bungie.
-
When you said 'tank' I thought you were going to discuss PvE where being a tank actually matters. And then I thought about Tank, the band.
-
I'm a true Titan. My #1 source of kills in crucible is melee.
-
I do agree to the fact that Warlocks have been benefited with the new "breed" of exotics, making them more powerful than what they inherently are with their subclasses. But, Titans are still formidable if they are used more strategically and less "tankier". I've seen Titans become fundamental in Control Matches and turn the tables for their team. Also, I got shoulder charged by a standing Titan in one match. He barely even had to sprint lol.

It comes down to skill. I've powerhoused through waves of enemies to revive my Warlock mates. Plus titans running defender can pop a bubble with saints and wreck.
-
In the end, this is a FPS and it's all about skill. Nome of the points matter if you are just a beast at PvP. Beast meaning: awesome team and communication, with high individual skill and aim, quick reflexes, quick and tactical decision making and the ability to stay calm in battle. Small differences in agility? Small differences in armor perks? Look at the points I mention before this and you will now laugh about these tiny things.
-
I agree titans have the most useless melee in pvp. Can't stand using it in pvp. Half the time I just give the controller to the 8 year old if I have to play it on that character. This pvp is a total noob fest though and I think it's got a lot worse issues. Like the fact they want it that way with lame buttonslapping supers like you just mentioned.
-
5 RisposteDon't run agility build Titans. The trade off is pathetic. The armor you lose isn't worth it. Flash bangs are made with the purpose of closing the distance as is the alternative to shoulder charge that gives a shield. Shoulder charge is a CQC ability use it through short line of sight areas. If you pair it with the right jump you can either speed boost it or use it vertically to surprise foes on platforms above you. And they did make warlocks too tanky, but I've heard most of the Devs like warlocks more so.... Force barrier is amazing with the right perks. The recharge is unreal. Innermost light is a great striker helm. Death from above can close the distance very quickly. Titans don't throw nova bombs they are the nova bomb. Looking at class balance warlocks should have the weakest overall armor stats. Titans are primary armor secondary recovery, hunters primary agility, secondary armor, so warlocks should be primary recovery, secondary agility. When you luck at other RPGs it's rare to see warlock types have anything but the lowest armor in exchange for massive AoE ranged DPS. Even rogue types tend to take hits better. What they may have done is confused clerics or Paladins as a warlock/Mage variation. Both of these typically sport heavy armor but are more true to the warrior/tank class that would be a Titan. Warlock melees should revolve around escape and utility not function as a means to tank for function as a melee fighter. What is done is taking the RPS that is destiny and making one class both paper and rock. The other classes that are just rock or scissors are automatically at a disadvantage. Warlocks should be glass cannons, not steel cannons. Their supers already work well for ranged AoE DPS. Titans are tanks and close range AoE DPS. Hunters are split between ranger style single target DPS and rogue close range single target DPS. Single target isn't meaning only being able to kill a single target but meaning that they must focus on a singe target at a time. They have some abilities to clear clusters but it's no nova or havoc in terms of AoE. Overall I think they need to rethink the current warlock design to the arch types that it was made from. Almost forgot Titans don't blink, they stare into the sun until it blinks. Blink wouldn't make sense on them as a tank class as blink is more of an evasive skill. Now what they need to do is make catapult something nice, a Titan blink if you will. Should function a lot like the overdrive on a time breaker. No teleport just a big flare up from the Titan jet pack with similar directional limitations and controls as blink, but a tad bit slower in overall speed.
