Listen, I've played a fair amount of destiny. A fair amount. My friend has played even more, much, much more than I have.(literally doubling everyone's playtime within the group, and some of us have been in the game since alpha).
So today he quit. You wanna know why? PoE.
Eyup. POE.
Qodok or whatever his name is, has finally broken him.
The boss is doable, don't get me wrong. But my friend is just tired of playing week after week and passing everyone's playtime but never having a gjallihorn.
Same story you heard a billion times. But in the end, that's what did it.
He couldn't stand having to put in so much more effort, literally hours more per raid, just because someone got a specific gun that makes the game two difficulty settings lower.
Me. I'm in the same boat. I can't stick with this game knowing that I'm having to put more effort, a lot more, just because bungie made this game's rng wack and removed gjal from xur.
========================================================================
It's frustrating to play this game knowing that if I don't have gjally, i have to cheese, hope the AI doesn't zerk me, and pray to RNjesus I make it through.
While some chumps on youtube can just burn the boss down in less than 2 minutes with absolutely zero strategy required.
====================================================
So today bungie, you lost a loyal(very loyal) player. My friend played roc strikes. He played dragon. He played more than anyone in our group was even on combined just for that little shot at extra loot.
But alas, he grew tired and weary. Frustrated that we have to cheez new raids just because content from the initial released was nowhere to be found for his hard work.
So that's it. That's the story for today.
Edit: Please have a little maturity in the comments. I'm writing this as a general note, not to get your sympathy.
Edit2: Please note that I stated above that I can do the raid, it's just a lot longer process for this(and other) raids without Gjal.
Edit3: Please note that the problems with Gjallarhorns strength have just been increased with PoE as far as we are concerned. This was highlighted this week with 30 second kills of just "shoot the boss"(ignore all the mechanics) while we have to go through frustration that is playing this boss normally.
-I will be referencing this edit in my further comments.
Edit4: For some reason nobody seems to read this so I'll state it very clearly and precisely:
-The actual drop of Gjal is not that big of a problem. The problem is that Gjal creates a huge gap within capabilities. This is highlighted within PoE and was not such a big issue within the other raids and content previously.

Soooooo....wah wah I don't have a gally
-
3 RisposteI'm honestly contemplating it too. It's hard to find a group on lfg if you don't have a gally. It's not like I haven't tried to get it. Alpha to now still none ): I'm at the stage now where I don't have much time between work the missus the bike and training I don't get much time and going into Poe or the other raids it really does take a lot longer. I just don't see why xur doesn't sell it yet? It's the only exotic I haven't had (the same with other alpha players) and I just don't think that it's fair. I think if I don't get it at some stage this week I'll be done. ):
-
2 RisposteI know the feeling. But honestly I don't use my Gjallarhorn unless I'm asked to (exception is solar burn) there are other weapons that I enjoy using more.
-
5 RisposteI killed Qodron without the Gjallahorn. Just Black hammers, boom end of story. And I did it LEGIT, no bubble poping bullshit right after he spawns. We looked for the shiny Vex everytime and one of us had a shotgun and the other two had Black hammers. Basically we sticked to the right, the shotgunner always killed the shiny Vex so he could get Jailbreaker, and me and my other friend Black hammered the boss before the Qodron "searched for targets" So I don't get this thread, neither your friend. And if you realize and read some people's comments or even other threads, they probably managed to kill Qodron without it as well. Gjallahorn is simply just a tool to make things easier, but there are many other tools in the game that make ANYTHING in the game doable without Gjallahorn.

1 RispondiI'm a little disappointed at how many people discriminate against those that don't have a Gjallarhorn. Just because they don't have a certain gun shouldn't mean they deserve to be booted before they even get a chance to show off their skills. It's every bit as possible to beat any part of PoE without a Gjallarhorn. I have much more respect for those that do beat it without Gjallarhorn, because they didn't take the easy way out. While certain guns help make things easier, I think that an effective strategy is the best way to go about it. But that's just my opinion though.

1 RispondiI feel you. I am getting tired of the repetitive grind and the RNG. I have Gjallahorn, am level 34, and have a 365 Fatebringer. What more is the to do?
-
This story is my life all my friend get the Gjallahorn in about 2 weeks of playing then I have been playing for 3 or 4 months by now I have not gotten even a CHANCE to get it.
-
I have stopped Destiny indefinitely. It has lost its allure for me.
-
I know I'm playing since day one 3 night falls 2 raids Poe Crucible Over 1000 hrs Every week with 3 characters My friend has gotten 10 gallys no bs 10 My other friend has just the 1 9 months playing this game 8 vex 6 crux of crota Every exotic countless times Not one gjallarhorn I've done everything in the game But can't get into groups cause the game just will not give me the gally The loot system is complete bull shit The game just wears you down
-
3 RisposteOh please I had to wait until last weeks nightfall to get my gally. I d from earned mine, almost a year wait, after watching my clan getting them week in week out and I still sat there hoping, now I have it I love it, Detroit worth the grind.
-
I stopped reading after 'gjallihorn'.
-
5 RisposteIf you are sick of cheesing why would you want a Ghorn? You said your self that with a Ghorn you can ignore game mechanics and rocket volley the boss. Isnt that it self a cheese?
-
30 RisposteYou nor anyone else is ever entitled to any piece of gear in the game ever just because you or they want it no mater how long they or you have played the game ever.

1 RispondiModificato da Scottathon79: 5/27/2015 7:36:50 PMIf he is on Xbox one he can have one of mine the day (if ever) they have trading. I didn't have one forever but in the last 200 hours have gotten 5. I understand the distress well.
-
You have a flawed idea of "loyal" if you think someone loyal will leave over not getting one gun.
-
Don't have ghally.. what a noob
-
I wish they'd just get rid of ghorn
-
4 RisposteModificato da Hiddenmonkey10: 5/27/2015 5:39:53 PMSo let me get this straight... Just because you haven't received the literal easy mode button, you're quitting? Where's your sense of challenge?! If you really wanted gally, you would have bought it week 2. I'm thinking you're one of those people that realized "oh, this takes the challenge out of everything and just hands me loot!" and now bit<hes about it because it never drops. You know what, yeah, it's impressive to watch a team down a supposed to be difficult boss in less than a minute, but it's more impressive by far go watch a team defeat said boss without gally.
-
1 RispondiIs -blam!- censored?
-
2 RisposteModificato da Omega Realities: 5/27/2015 6:52:37 PMSo the point of the entire game is a single weapon? I guess I play for the wrong reason. I guess I better start obsessing with getting weapons, rather than getting together with friends to accomplish a mission.
-
5 RisposteCelestial nighthawk is worth two ghorn shots of damage so you can easily contribute if you don't have one.

1 RispondiDon't play then lol
-
2 RisposteMy sentiments have probably been expressed by many others who took the time to comment.. 1) using the Titan bubble for cover and shield along with multiple ghorns is mostly definitely a strategy, not a cheese or cheat. In fact, on my second completion yesterday, we did it with two ghorns and a hunger, plus only one of us in the group was L34! 2) if you're not having fun, seriously, just take a break. Maybe a week, maybe months. Sounds like to me, even if the ghorn dropped for you at the next exotic checkpoint you completed that you're getting burnt out on the game even with it. I didn't play for about two months before HoW and I had already gotten lucky to have the ghorn drop, but I was burnt out by then!! I quit for awhile, (didn't even turn on my console most of that time except to occasionally watch Netflix) and Now I'm back it's fun again, but I've learnt to pace myself, and just enjoy shooting stuff and not worry about what level my characters are, or what they don't have!
-
I have to agree. Even though I have 3 jellyhorns, I think that it's stupid that they made all of PoE bosses pretty much require it in order to beat it without spending WAAAAY too much time per fight.
-
TLDR: your friend is a whingy biatch
