Listen, I've played a fair amount of destiny. A fair amount. My friend has played even more, much, much more than I have.(literally doubling everyone's playtime within the group, and some of us have been in the game since alpha).
So today he quit. You wanna know why? PoE.
Eyup. POE.
Qodok or whatever his name is, has finally broken him.
The boss is doable, don't get me wrong. But my friend is just tired of playing week after week and passing everyone's playtime but never having a gjallihorn.
Same story you heard a billion times. But in the end, that's what did it.
He couldn't stand having to put in so much more effort, literally hours more per raid, just because someone got a specific gun that makes the game two difficulty settings lower.
Me. I'm in the same boat. I can't stick with this game knowing that I'm having to put more effort, a lot more, just because bungie made this game's rng wack and removed gjal from xur.
========================================================================
It's frustrating to play this game knowing that if I don't have gjally, i have to cheese, hope the AI doesn't zerk me, and pray to RNjesus I make it through.
While some chumps on youtube can just burn the boss down in less than 2 minutes with absolutely zero strategy required.
====================================================
So today bungie, you lost a loyal(very loyal) player. My friend played roc strikes. He played dragon. He played more than anyone in our group was even on combined just for that little shot at extra loot.
But alas, he grew tired and weary. Frustrated that we have to cheez new raids just because content from the initial released was nowhere to be found for his hard work.
So that's it. That's the story for today.
Edit: Please have a little maturity in the comments. I'm writing this as a general note, not to get your sympathy.
Edit2: Please note that I stated above that I can do the raid, it's just a lot longer process for this(and other) raids without Gjal.
Edit3: Please note that the problems with Gjallarhorns strength have just been increased with PoE as far as we are concerned. This was highlighted this week with 30 second kills of just "shoot the boss"(ignore all the mechanics) while we have to go through frustration that is playing this boss normally.
-I will be referencing this edit in my further comments.
Edit4: For some reason nobody seems to read this so I'll state it very clearly and precisely:
-The actual drop of Gjal is not that big of a problem. The problem is that Gjal creates a huge gap within capabilities. This is highlighted within PoE and was not such a big issue within the other raids and content previously.

Got my first last week from NF. All it does is that it grants you a passage to raids with 12 year olds... (Jk I have a clan) It also lowers your competence :/
-
I've beat him first or 2nd try 4 times this week, he's not hard just have a shotgun and watch for the shiny vex
-
...The Big G is awesome, but having it doesn't win you games, you know
-
1 RispondiI feel for your buddy. I got mine defeating crota on hard 7 weeks ago but I think Xur should sell it. People still have to do weekly strikes,Blue engrams to turn into coins to EARN their Ghorn. I think it's silly to remove/not sell one specific gun when everybody spent the same amount of money to grind for weapons. But it's sad that it's Random drops that possibly could never happen like this one guardian but others get multiple Ghorn within weeks. Sounds unfair to me
-
While RNG is whatever and the whole 'I don't have a gjally yet blah blah' might get ignored by most, I think the more pressing issue is Gjally's power. Its awesome, I love it. However, the OP talks about players using no strategy and just shooting the final boss, ignoring mechanics of the fight completely. This IS an issue. No weapon should allow fire teams to ignore all mechanics and strats in a shooter that prides itself on challenging the players skill and teamwork.

Modificato da some314159guy: 5/27/2015 8:52:59 PMDidn't get my first g-horn until 800 hours. There are plenty of ways to win without.

3 RisposteTL;DR. So he's bad AND a baby? Glad he quit.
-
Destiny is just a psychological experiment, notice how in the beginning you just had to worry about one raid a week, now there's 2 raids along with a horde mode(poe). And much more will be added in the near future. I believe bungie is just testing gamers to see how much we can take without mentally breaking down.
-
1 RispondiI more disgusted by the cool down wait on ammo synth... ...
-
I got my first one at just over 700 hours my second one exactly a week later then quickly a 3rd and got my fourth last weeks nf. How many hours did he have? yorkie
-
1 RispondiHopefully he comes back and he gets that Ghorn
-
I can't blame you. Destiny is a hell of a grind and sooner or later it'll break players. Hope you guys can come back...

I'm playing since the beta. Have 700+ hours in the game, and that's because my X1 was broke from December to May. Don't have Gjallarhorn, don't have Myhoclast. I don't even care that much about those, I want the Universal Remote! From vanilla Destiny I'm only missing 4 exotic weapons, and from DLC2 Destiny it's 10. But I never got the Gjallarhorn. Guess what I don't even care, I like it that the game is challenging, and I can still manage without it. Only reason I want it is because I want to have it in my collection. Rng has been a bitch for me the past weeks (got 3 Ice Breakers, 12strange coin, shitty purples..) but I got 1-2 good stuff too, and it's enough for me. There are still a shitload of legendary weapons in my vault that are good and I'm still working on leveling them! I have my armor sets form my characters so now I'm on the hunt for 11 more etheric lights. Game is still fun. Especially since I have a job, a great social life, so beside those , my only complain is I don't have enough time for Destiny AND other games as well!

2 RisposteOh god not -blam!-ing Gjallarhorn again... wish they'd remove it from the game entirely. Sick of hearing about it.
-
3 RisposteHordor.
-
1 RispondiI feel you bud. Although its like the ones who leave negative comments don't realize they are a part of the problem. Not to say they can give you or your friend Gally but still, a positive note can go a long way, so why bother trying to make an ass of yourself. I'd say keep grinding but hey just do whatever makes y'all happy.
-
4 RisposteGot another gjallarhorn for a nightfall yesterday ;)
-
1 RispondiXur should sell it again even though there would be so many tears from ppl on here.
-
So true, bungie really lost sight of the great System they had going with the guns
-
Yea. I gave up on destiny a while ago. I got the season pass so I can play HoW. But.... I don't care to. Paid for it and don't care. Wish this game lived up to the lies they told before release. Just checking the forums to see if they upped their game. I'm not convinced enough to waste time
-
1 RispondiTl;DR Me and my friend don't have gjallarhorn so we are quitting..
-
Good post

18 RisposteA screw that take a flat headed screwdriver doesn't necessarily need a flat headed screwdriver. Yes, it works better on it, but you can simply just use a knife. :)
-
4 RisposteYou must've missed how people beat skolas35 with 4th horseman shotty's.. I personally beat skolas using a gjal, but since i was the one looking for servitors and defusing mines , most of the damage came from my teammates, using ARC snipers..
-
3 RisposteI stopped reading half but because I kind of agree. To sum it up I'll tell you a little story. Playing through the story missions for the first time the other day solo but I'm in a party chat with my buddy I've known for like 15 years. It was the last mission and you have to capture Skolas while fighting off fallen coming from the vex portals and dropships. I died like once or twice. My friend told me "bro just use your gjallarhorn." And for some reason - I didn't want to. I enjoyed the challenge. I felt like if I just pulled out the old gjallarbaby I would destroy everything in my path. I didn't want to. I wanted to use these new un-upgraded weapons and fight through that shit. I never ended up using it and I mean of course I beat it up but idk, the challenge was nice.

Soooooo....wah wah I don't have a gally
