I got it by playing the crucible...I dont see what the problem is.

I don't see what the issue is. I outperform thorn all the time with bad ju ju, mida, fang... The list goes on.

Response to Edit 1: Maybe we defend Thorn because it's the most unique gun in this entire nerf-fest of a game. Perhaps it's because it already was absolute garbage. Perhaps a nerf will never come, tell me one gun from this game that was actually renerfed after a buff or vice versa.

Response to Edit 7: If you want a game that takes skill to play, then maybe pick up a game whose catchphrase is "Become Legend" because maybe that's just what will happen, you'll run into people who are better than you, regardless of what they use.

I go about 50/50 against thorn. It's not any worse than running into a room and getting melted by tlw. I simply use a powerful exotic IM good with, vex.

Did you maybe...try using Thorn against them?
