How the hell do I get better at PVP?
Seriously. I absolutely suck. I've tried watching videos, tried playing more, etc, but I just get absolutely wrecked.
I just tried trials and got absolutely destroyed. I WANT to enjoy PVP, but I'm terrible at it.
Edit: just went 0-3 in Trials. Yay!
Edit 2: I REALLY didn't expect to get so many replies! Thanks for not being nasty about it and actually being helpful. I'm always open to learning. If someone wants to actually get into a game with me I'm more than happy to absorb anything you have to teach me.
Edit 3: damn. 250 replies. I really didn't expect this to get any attention. I expected it to get lost amongst the "if you didn't get 9-0 in trials you are trash" posts. Thanks, guardians!
Edit 4: Wow. Almost 700 replies. I am amazed. I'm amazed that this got so much attention, since I really just posted it out of frustration at making a stupid mistake and costing my team a match (they got mad, yelled at me, then blocked me off Xbox Live), and I'm also amazed and how overwhelmingly supportive everyone has been. I really appreciate all the tips, everyone, and I'm taking them all into account. I'll be spending a lot more time in the crucible training. I know I'm still a noob and I make mistakes all the time. I'm glad these forums have decent people still in here, even if you're all lurking in the shadows.

Edit 6: I'd like to thank the few guys I ran Trials with today for getting me to the Lighthouse. I know it must have been tough, and I didn't always hold my own very well, but I tried hard, and I feel like I got a lot better because of it. I don't want to put your names because I don't want you to get slammed with messages like you did earlier. Again, thank you :)

I'm not good at PvP either but letting them take the fight to you can be an advantage. Know your area and remember if you're close up to blast the face with a weapon that can kill with 1-2 shots. In a firefight you're better suited to stay and fight than to try and run.

Practice, practice, practice. The more you play the better you'll get.

learning the maps is important. then it's practice and getting a feel of what to do in certain situations ( 2v1, 3v2, 1v1 w/ shotgun, thorn counter, sniper down range) ect. it's being good situationally and doing what you need to for your team

Lol 3 buddies and I just played some clash and just sat down at our spawn and when people would see us we would get up and kill everyone hahaha. We won 2 matches in a row just sitting there. It was quite funny.

My advice is to just find the character that you play with best and what subclass you play with. For instance, I am garbage with a blade dancer because I'm not very good at being aggressive. But with my golden gun where I can sit back a little bit I play much better.

I feel the same. Most games I'm at least average at, even right from the start. But I just cannot figure Destiny out. I really want to not just start using the thorn because I don't like hand cannons. But I'm tempted to see what happens when I start using it lol

I'd recommend playing control to learn the map layouts, choke points and paths most heavily used. Then playing rumble to get your slaying skills up once you know the maps. Stick to a weapon you like and get used to its recoil, even top teir weapons doesn't mean you'll kill everything if you aren't used to it

It's all about knowing the map and the "hot lanes" kinda like the map bungie posted after the first week. You will eventually see a pattern of where guardians will go and can anticipate where they can pop their head out. Same goes for knowing where snipers like to hide so you can avoid giving them a free kill. I like Control starting out it gives you a definite sense of where you need to go and where the enemey will go

Abuse thorn last word or final round snipers like every other loser in this game. Especially thorn by the way did I mention that.

I was always good at multiplayer I kinda just adapted to destiny really enjoy it

Without looking at other replies this is my personal experience. Play a lot of control to get used to the maps. This shows you some main areas and lets you have more people to follow. Practice practice practice. I was horrible for awhile but now Im average with some really good games. Use the best weapons you have, if you are comfortable with them. Use a rocket launcher with proximity detonation. The machine gun can net more kills but only if you don't die. Don't die. Run away. If you are alone, find your team. Very seldom will you win 2 on 1 or worse. Avoid corners or have a shotgun out if there is red on the radar. Use the radar. It tricks me sometimes but most of the time it will help you. Oh, and practice.

I'm sorta a "tryhard" when it comes to PVP. Never had a problem with my K.D. ratio.

Get a hawkmoon and practice normal Cruxible modes and aim at the head. U get a. Lucky headshot and their nearly dead. Most op gun ever

Not much to say really. It sounds wierd, but go into the crucible and see how people move, how they react. Mimic those same reactions. Truth is, its all YOU. Are you capable of reacting to a situation at a moments notice? I'm not trying to insult you, but if your a "slow" person, you might as well give up. I have a buddy, motorhead, he is a good PvE player but he sort of underperforms in the crucible, he is a little slow on reaction times though... Situational awarness is also key.

All you can do is play to your style. Make sure you have the right weapons, and get out there.

only thing you can do is play. There's nothing else you can really do. You can watch some info vids & whatnot to learn some strats to implement but nothing's just gonna make you more skillful aside from just playing crucible. that's the only thing that'll get you better. Practice makes perfect. You'll get the feel for the weapons you like, & you'll start realizing which ones you do best with. you'll figure out different combos of perks/armor you wanna use for different matches. just play man. might take a bit, but that's the only thing that'll work.
