Why do you hate Pre-ordering?

I don't know how $5 is ruining gaming. IMO pre-ordering makes things easier and most likely i'm going to get the game anyways so I'm not spending any extra money. Yeah okay the bonuses can be sometimes too much, but still it's only $5. Please, give me proof that Pre-ordering is bad. I don't think some of you know how preordering works. It's really simple, just $5 down, you can CANCEL WHENEVER YOU WANT, when the game is released you can wait for reviews, you don't have to pick it up day one, if you decide to get it you just pay the rest. Your just pointing the finger at preordering. Bad games are going to be bad no matter what. Have you ever thought that maybe the developers just aren't as good as they were before.

  • You walk into a pizzeria, tell them you want a slice. He says he hasn't started making it, but you can pay him for the slice, you can have it at 1. You agree. Suddenly, dude is running into problems with the pizza. The dough isn't rising, the pepperoni order hasn't come in, but he's already sold 3/4 of the pizza and everyone is coming in at 1 for their slice. So.... -blam!- it. Make a shitty pizza to meet the orders.

Because every game keeps insisting you pre order to get the "full exsperance" with dumb dlc with it, what's sad is you don't have to pre order to get it, I got a game that had its pre order extra still there, in a game that came out months ago, just 2 days ago, there's no reason to pre order unless your one of the people who go day one for a copy.

      • Just typical scapegoating of something to explain why the game they thoroughly researched before it came out didn't live up to their hyped expectations they created in their minds.

        • I have written walls of text before explaining why preordering games doesn't hurt anything. I'm not in the mood to do it again right now, so I'll keep it simple. Lazy turds want a scapegoat and preorders are the one they've chosen. They bleat, moo, and whine without ever actually forming a thought. Preorder away if you're sure you want a game, not hurting a thing.

            • Pre-ordering a game is the reason the standard of games have gone to shit. Why would a publisher try to make a game so unbelievably amazing when they have already made profits on pre-orders alone?? Look at H5, you could PRE-ORDER that thing before MCC was out. They were focused on H5 the whole time. MCC was just a way to get quick cash before H5 came. MCC took the least amount of work to develop and look at the mess it turned out to be. All you people saying H5 is gonna be different are wrong. Microsoft already have their money from a years worth of pre-orders, why should they make it any better?

              • If a million people pre order a game for thirty bucks, then the a greedy cooperation has received thirty million dollars before development has even started. Since they already have their money, they can spend half of the resources they were planning on using. The game comes out. Everyone hates it. Doesn't matter. People saw a CGI ad two years before release and gave the company thirty million dollars. This is why we hate pre ordering. Also, even if you pull out of your pre order last second, the company has already made the decision to have a crappy game.

                • I'll preorder if I'm going to get the game day one anyway but I'll probably preorder a few weeks before it's released. I won't ever preorder a game 6 months to a year away from release. Too much uncertainty.

                  • People are just hopping on a bandwagon and instead of blaming developers making shitty games, they would rather blame some boogeyman. The thing is, pre ordering games has been around for several years now, and there has never been an issue until recently (I'd even go as far as to say the shit show from games last fall spearheaded the situation). If you want companies to actually change and put effort into something, then quit buying it altogether. If you are tired of the same cookie cutter call of duty or assassins creed each year, then stop buying them. Zero dollars will have a far greater impact than waiting until a week later to buy it. Honestly it only seems to be a few huge games that shine brighter in the spotlight that have the issues (especially the ones pushing for yearly release). Dark souls 2 for current gen came out fine. Dragon age inquisition came out fine. The handsome collection, dying light, shadow of mordor, sunset overdrive and many other games came out perfect regardless of pre orders. So yet again, if you wish to actually make a company change their product, you need to show you are dissatisfied with it and hurt them at their bottom line. When their sales are hurt, they WILL pay attention. Not pre ordering and then buying the game day one is not going to do jack shit. They still have your money and view your purchase as though you are a satisfied customer.

                    • You're giving companies money for a shitty product. If you keep giving them money (let alone more) for a sub-par product they'll continue to produce it. You're ruining the gaming industry.

Dude, you clearly don't understand what preordering is doing to gaming. Preordering is not just putting "$5 down." I hope you're just a naive teenager.

                          • As others have said pre-ordering has resulted in a lot of content being cut from titles at launch in favour of using it as incentives to buy the game on a specific platform or from a specific retailer. For example the PlayStation exclusive exotics and strikes in Destiny. So the publisher makes money from you for the purchase of a game with less content than you should have gotten for your money. And it makes more money again from Gamestop, Sony, Microsoft or whoever in exchange for all the little bits of the game the publisher made the developer cut out of the day one product to use as pre-order bonuses.
