It is a popular perception that the "best player on the team" is who appears at the top of the end match list due to having the high score. He/she might have a negative KD though and have actually fed the other team more points than they brought in for their own team. I think you should lose some points by the amount of lives you have given the other team. BillieJoe, for example has been ramboing the opponents all match racking up points and finished first on our list at 5200 points. But his KD was .78 meaning that he helped the other team more than his own by feeding them 6300 points. He actually should have a deficit of 1100 points because he gave the other team more points than he earned for his own. Meanwhile, LuckyLue made 2000 points with 10 kills but died only twice. She actually did more for our team at 1650 points (after subtracting the 350 points she gave away) but is listed second to last on the list even though she helped our team more than BillieJoe. She could have even captured more zones in a control match. Sometimes the top players have contributed less than they might think and I'm hoping the system can be improved to help reflect a truer performance.

1 RispondiYea bump. It's not a huge issue, but at its core their is a worse problem. It has been unofficially confirmed (I think IGN posted it) that top of the board players will have a better chance at drops in an upcoming patch. Now people have incentive to get to the top of the board at all costs. And if that means getting the highest score by "Rambo-ing" it will just lead to high scores but worse overall performances. And as someone who plays mainly solo, not thrilled about this.

3 RisposteSo somebody who gave the other team more points than they gave their own is ahead of you in the crucible? I think we need to discuss something else lol

1 RispondiFalse. This doesn't take into account "capturing points" (aka playing the objective) or assist points. You are also granted bonus points for head shots supers (this could stack really high) other objective based goals So using your example Billie could have killed less people and been killed more and still could have been positive on your tug of war style shenanigans. 1 RispondiI like the idea, but this won't accurately show the guy who may have gone negative, but captured 10 points. His captures actually added hundreds of points to the game by adding to the kills of his teammates. I think k/d matter more than many give it credit, but the point system would be tough to make 100% accurate.

1 RispondiThe problem is that all of this is meaningless until Bungie fixes their lag problems. If even one player has lag armor or teleports across the map, then even if you fix the points issues, you still won't have a fair representation of player skill.

1 RispondiI agree. Nothing worse than losing and your top player although maybe has a positive k/d only helped cap 1 or 2 control points when the majority capped 5 or 6.
