So I read Mr. Tassi's write-up on the Prison of Elders. I feel like Bungie is some kind of drug addict that I need to run an intervention. Bungie, stop, stop, just STOP, okay, STAHP. You're not helping yourself. Sit down, we're going to help you.
So, Bungie . . . you guys figured out Raid wasn't cutting it, not enough people were playing it. Great. Not that Raids were bad, just, they're too much a pain to jump into since there's no matchmaking and they take too long to do. So you've listened to your players and made changes. That's really a theme with House of Wolves and I'm really glad to see it. Good job on that Bungie. However, I'm sorry, many of the changes you've made should never have needed to be made because it should have been obvious from the get-go that they were bad ideas. So, I'm going to try and help you here.
No matchmaking for the higher (read: probably only tiers that actually matter) of the Prison of Elders is a stupid, stupid, stupid idea. Nothing that is being described by Mr. Tassi necessitates pre-made teams. And you know what, I'm sure it would be easier with premade teams, I'm 100% sure it would be. However, if I want to struggle with a random team, please, just let me do it. I think you'd really be surprised what a random team can accomplish, especially given the format of the Prison of Elders. Really, why are you not making another Raid if you still won't allow matchmaking for the Prison? Do you think lowering the player count from 6 to 3 will make a big difference. It won't, it doesn't make a lick of difference. Hear me on that. IT DOESN'T CHANGE A THING.
So please, make this fix BEFORE the fans get mad at you and BEFORE you see tons of players leave the game. It's really simple and it just makes sense. If you can have matchmaking at lvl 28, you can have it all the levels. People who want to do premades can still do them, everyone wins. Don't allow matchmaking, and you're just going to have the same problem you have with the Raids. NO ONE WILL PLAY THEM. Lowering the player count from 6 to 3 doesn't get rid of the fundamental issue, that one being we have no interest in making our own groups. It's more hassle than we care to go through, just throw in matchmaking already.
There's my plea to you. This time, please listen. Listen before people get mad at you, avoid having to change a stupid idea after everyone has pointed out to you how stupid it is. Just do it now. Please, for your own sake. Please.
This concludes the intervention.
EDIT: Several people have pointed out matchmaking should be optional. This makes perfect sense. One of the biggest problems Destiny has it that keeps trying to force us to play a certain way, rather than just letting us play the way we choose. So optional matchmaking is a win-win for everyone. Why Bungie won't implement it . . . I have no clue.

Modificato da BrokenLance: 5/24/2015 5:15:30 AMCan't think of a good reason to not have optional matchmaking. Sometimes you want to just sit down and shoot aliens, and progress. Other online games allow you to do this without issue. FFXIV, the healer heals, the tanker tanks, etc all without saying a word to each other. Are there bad groups? Of course, but there are bad groups without matchmaking as well. I have had some truly horrible Vault of Glass groups that made me wonder if my fellow gamers had taken their medication that day. the lack of higher matchmaking at PoE and Bungie's lack of reasoning convinced me that I must be very wary of their future releases. I love this game but to continue to go out of my way, to destinylfg or gamefaqs or what have you - to progress my character (when other online games have long abandoned this sort of thing) is just a waste of time that I cannot afford. I will be paying close attention to the big expansion coming and if they continue this paradigm then I will steer well clear of it. Thanks for reading.

10 RisposteModificato da DeZevil: 5/6/2015 10:36:09 PMBe very careful about asking for matchmaking without pointing out the word "optional" or a synonyme of it very clearly. Just because you want to being randoms with you who may or may not care more about trolling others than actually finishing, doesn't mean we all want that luggage with us those days we play without friends. I am completely fine with helping or even carrying players who try to contribute despite happening to be less adept at the game, no argument there. I will not however tolerate being paired with afkers or trolls in activities such as these, who care more about making people miserable than completing the mission. And I am not alone with this opinion. Absolutely, there are randoms who are brilliant players who handles the tasks at hand just fine, so not everyone is an a-*BEEEP!*-le. But still, there are plenty of dooshbags found in the Roc playlist and some bled into the Weekly when that got forced matchmaking, despite numerous protests against it and desires for optional matchmaking. I still fear a day when Raids can get forced matchmaking because it will not help many complete it. They will get a team, but almost never a working team since you require communication or coordination with the team, something you rarely or never will achieve. Forcing matchmaking on such activities will blow the players (and in the end Bungie themselves) to kingdom come. The problem I think many of the player wishing for matchmaking is that you are a bit lazy or in the best case shy. I don't think you consider the whole board in these regards. First of all, not everyone wants or needs matchmaking. Like I mentioned before, there was a massive outburst of protests when it was announced that Weekly would become a matchmade activity. And unlike most complaints on the forums, many of these listed legitimate reasons. Yet still it ended up forced, and many players then stood depraved of one of their at the time few end-game activities. What will happen if Nightfalls and/or god forbid Raids got forced matchmaking? I'll fly down with four friends knowing we can easily five-man both Raids and then gets a clueless Raid-freshman dumped in our laps without a mic. "Oh joy, he/she ran ahead and grabbed the Relic..where is he/she goin.., awh come on get outta th...GUARDIAN DOWN..*sigh*" No thank you. To summarize this long post: Forced matchmaking - absolutely not!!! Optional matchmaking - as long as I can opt out of it and duo or solo the three-man-activities, sure, it won't hurt me. I doubt it will help very many in some activities, but it won't affect me personally.

1 RispondiI'm fine with matchmaking whether it's optional or not. Whenever I do a strike and there's a douchebag or two not contributing, I simply go to orbit and start the strike again with a new team, so I'll simply do the same thing in PoE if the situation presents itself. I don't understand why all the elitists give two shits about matchmaking when they are always gonna be doing these HoW activities with a pre-made fire team, so they will not be affected by matchmaking in any way shape or form. All those douchebags want, is to ruin the game for everyone else by not having Bungie enable matchmaking for the new events.

SUPER BUMP!!!!!!!

Modificato da Hektik: 5/7/2015 1:08:07 PMFace it buddy. Like me, this game isn't aimed at you. This is a casual game wearing hardcore clothing. It's sad to see players not only accepting but defending Bungie's lack of in-game end-game support. These same players will point you to a 3rd party developer resource to get a group. They see the solution but completely ignore the problem. Maybe matchmaking won't work, maybe an ingame lfg interface like the 3rd party sites would be better suited. The whole point is that it is appalling that a company would ship a product that does not have ANY support function in place. But the community can't see the forest for the trees, they'd rather take Bungie's lead and blame the consumer for their lack of friends. I guess Destiny is high school 2.0.

1 RispondiThere should be 3 "options" for every game mode...given the nature of what is destiny. Option 1 - solo Option 2 - party Option 3 - matchmaking If the devs did this...everybody is happy...then they can focus on other things like... - new enemies to fight - new public event types - fleshing out the story - tweaking/coming up with new modifiers to existing game modes - etc, ect, ect...

Matchmaking in weeklies. Now people afk weeklies. Lfg Ian hard to use and after your first positive experience you will use them more. I have had more positive experiences than negative.
-
7 RisposteI don't know about anyone else but matchmaking is a pain in my ass. Take the weekly heroic this week for example (void burn). This week I did it 3 times, and all 6 randoms that I encountered did not use a single void weapon. There's too many brain dead people out there dragging down decent players
-
Yah nah f*ck that. I'll matchmake my own damn groups thank you very much, I'm a big boy. I'll have the freedom to kick AFKers and choose who I want to play with. Get over it man
-
What Happens to a f k ers in prison of elders are they just going to sit in the airlock while the other two are running a muck it's bad enough in roc strikes. :(
-
Why do people complain about no matchmaking yet say that sites like LFG are the same thing, just doing the work yourself? I could argue that if it's the same thing, then what's the harm in actually attempting to find a suitable team, which will benefit you by allowing you to pick what kind of people you play with? If only support matchmaking if the Prison of Elders ends up being ridiculously easy.
-
I'll always bump optional matchmaking
-
As long as it's optional; I don't see why there shouldn't be matchmaking for the higher levels.
-
4 RisposteCant fix what isn't broken...Matchmaking isn't needed, and would hurt the game and community more than it would help, whether it be optional or not.
-
Better be optional if they do make this change. I like the pride of saying I've soloed them all.
-
Huge bump!!!
-
Although I agree it should definitely be an option we should be allowed to have, playing Vanguard ROC with randoms, for example, shows me 95% of the time, it's probably the reason they don't do matchmaking. Again, we should AT LEAST have the option. But, we either play how Bungie wants us to, or they silently tell us to shove it up our arse!
-
5 RisposteFfs. It's going to be WAY too hard to play with randoms with no mikes. I'm semi supportive of raid match making, but not even slightly supportive of match making for PoE.
-
5 Rispostedidn't read it all. can't help but see this as a long cry-fest over no matchmaking. I'm sorry but I'll be damned if I wanna do something like this with the vast populous of stunned fücks who play this game. the fact that I find approximately 80% of the players I have done any match made activity with have the intellectual value equal to that of a sack of cow shit makes me grateful the more harder difficulties are self assembled fire team/solo only.
-
How bungie has gone from one of the best devs to worst in a year time.. Well done bungie, bravo.

3 RisposteModificato da bobbyblaze: 5/6/2015 10:59:07 PMlol, this guy makes a post asking to be able to play the content that he paid for and he gets called a pvp scrub by this vile community. These kids hate matchmaking on here because it encourages player growth. They get to feel special with their exotics chests and raids weapons. It is sad really. "and though the 32 challenge was fun with my fireteam, I’m certain I could have beaten it with two strangers as well." - Paul Tassi Bungie, you've run out of excuses. Time to let us play what we paid for. Add matchmaking to the Trials and all levels of PoE.
-
I'll play with you :|
-
You really can't get 2 friends to play with you?
-
If you want randoms then go to the tower and invite a couple people, bro. GTFO with your whining about matchmaking.
-
5 RisposteBungie: Hey we heard you like matchmaking so we gave you as little as humanly possible of that in this dlc. Enjoy PoE level 28, we hope you needed more ascendent energy. Sincerely, The Destiny (we never played an MMO before) Development Team PS: AR still suck, too.
