You have a fundamental misunderstanding of Xur's purpose. In any RNG based system, it is a boon to have a supplemental method to gain the gear. Xur is a hedge against bad luck for dedicated players. How many times have you read posts by players who have 500 or 1,000 hours played and still didn't have a SUROS? Then Xur sells it and that player is able to purchase what RNG has been loathe to award that player. The focus of criticism of Xur is solely focused on the ability of players with a more casual time budget to be able to attain those weapons. To that I say, so? It's not about specific weapons at all. Dedicated players likely have all but a few exotic weapons. Why should they care if a casual player has access to a handful?

  • I'm with you, I have 700+ hours put into the game. I'm a college student and have a job working 30+ hours a week. I have every exotic, and I am ALL for Xur selling exotic weapons for people that don't have the time or luck. Just saying.

  • So? So a casual deserves the right to the same gear as someone investing time and effort into the end game? This is why destiny is going stale. Everyone has everything. We all look the same and we all equip the same guns. Almost zero diversity. I hope destiny 2 doesn't make it so easy. I Mena 3 heroic strikes for a guaranteed exotic of your choice is pretty bullshit compared to pure rng.

  • Not sure how it's a guaranteed exotic of your choice. The only choice one has in the matter is in the form of exotic bounties. That argument makes no sense. The game dictates the gun being sold.

  • But do you not get to choose from a selection every week at the same time. Guaranteed exotic of your choice

It isn't your choice. You can hope for one gun/armor and it may never show up. The only chance you get to choose anything is when you get the 3 bounties choice. edit: I get what you are trying to say but might as well reword it. You get to choose from "available" options. That would be more precise.

  • Yes xur is randomly generated. But you do indeed make a choice whether to buy something or hold onto your coins and get two the next week. I don't see the logic behind saying it's not a choice because the choices are random. It's like that with a lot of vendors.

  • Casual players should have something to strive for. Hardcore players play Nightfalls, weekly strikes, and raids - on multiple characters - and have many more chances of receiving exotics. No true casual player I know plays more than one character actively, and none of them have multiple characters able to complete level 30 weekly heroics. All of them save coins for several weeks to buy just one weapon or piece of armor. Having a couple exotics over months doesn't compare to dedicated players having nearly all of them. I would say that anyone who has three characters at 30 and who is consistently running weeklies and Nightfalls certainly "earns" a chance to buy an exotic from Xur. What's the problem? I only have two characters, started playing in January, but have more than half of the exotic weapons. Do I not "deserve" them because I play less than a day one player who plays 4 hours a day?

  • I agree I just got destiny a month ago and have done VoG normal once VoglG hard once, and TDB normal once and haven't gotten one exotic drop. I'm level 30 so I had to buy one from xur so I could continue to progress. I'm a newer player who is trying to get into the community and it was really nice to not have to get -blam!- ed by RNG since I seemingly have terrible luck, considering I'm level 30 and have only decoded around 4 legendary engrams.

  • It's all perspective. I enjoy the work of earning marks for gear and weapons, so exotics are just icing on the cake. Once you get raid primary weapons the exotic primary weapons don't get used as often anyway. With HoW, you will be able to have a very customizable loadout with just vendor weapons, so you won't even need exotics to be able to enjoy your loadout. It'll be fun.

  • Invested time? I have at least 1500 hours logged on the PS4 before moving to Xbox One. About 125 logged there. Exotic combined drops? ONE

  • Again I don't believe you because your account isn't linked 1500 hours with 1 drop. Lol does that time include endgame activities ?

  • You mean the raid? 82% have never done one, nor have I. Are you now claiming it's perfectly fine 82% of players basically have zero chance of an exotic lol? You need to get real and understand Bungie is screwed unless there's many more ways to obtain exotic and raid quality gear.

  • I doubt you've only had one exotic drop in all that time, and even if you did, you're probably the only player in all of destiny to ever have that happen. Nobody invests that much time and only gets a single exotic drop, unless you don't do any raids or nightfalls, in which case you're investing your time wrong and don't even deserve to complain about it.

  • I'd love to raid and do nightfalls. However, 82% have never completed a raid. And yes, ONE exotic drop. Mida from a round in Crucible months ago. I started playing with 7 of my friends on launch date. A month later out of all of us, two exotics had dropped. They all quit about that time anyway.

  • That's a very skewed statistic because it includes everyone that bought the game and barely played it, or only played the story, which I assume is a large majority of people. And finding people to do raids is very easy if you just go to the recruitment section of these forums. If all you have been doing is 1500 hours of crucible then I'm not surprised that you only have 1 exotic drop. But you really can't complain about only having 1 exotic drop when you have never completed activities that are meant to give you exotic drops, and then giving a skewed statistic to try and defend your lack of exotics.

  • Most players can't do those activities due to no matchmaking. It's not skewed at all, it very accurately pinpoints why and how Bungie screwed up. I'm definitely not going to run around on forums to find random players for something that should have been in the game since day one.

  • It really doesn't pinpoint shit. That 82% is most definitely skewed because of all of the different factors that contribute to it. I guarantee you that at least 30-50% of players that still play this game have completed a raid. If you want to do the real end game activities then you have to put in a little effort. I can find a full raid team on the forums in under 2 minutes. You're just too stubborn and lazy to go out of your comfort zone and do it. Having raid matchmaking would be a shit show and that's why bungie hasn't implemented it, there would be afkers and no communication so good luck with the matchmaking. If they can implement matchmaking into the weekly heroic strikes don't you think if it was a good idea that bungie would implement raid matchmaking too? Maybe you should stop blaming bungie and start blaming yourself for being too scared to raid.

  • Oh I don't doubt 50% of the remaining players, at least, have completed a raid. Not disputing that at all. But when the potential of having many more millions still playing, wanting more dlc's, having fun daily, with plenty of stuff to do was shot to hell by Bungie, you're looking at sad potential sales for Destiny 2 or the rumored comet. If the exact number of players still active was revealed, every website would label Destiny a massive fail. Only websites I see talking about how awesome Destiny is, are covering how amazing the raid is and how VoG and CE is amazing. Cool, so leaving out the fact that most already quit before they got that far or found out there was no matchmaking.
