What if you are just an average pvp player,
sometimes you get first place with most kill and some times you don't...
Some times you win in Rumble some times you loose. Just and average player with and average K/D.
As most players are, I reckon.
Would you have a chance in ToO.?
I mean, there will be some very skillful players out there with high K /D and good teams .
For those player it will be less struggle to get that highly sought after gear.
Will the Trial of osiris be a playground for a few very skilled players?
In other words: will it be balanced?
EDIT
After reading most of your posts , in which many were very interesting and creative, I have come to my own conclusion : Yes! Trial of Osiris should be balanced. By balanced I mean in the way that the more skilled players should recive the gear they deserve.
In other words: If you don't have it, you won't get it.
As for now we don't know much about ToO, so our opinions are speculative.
We have to wait one more day to find out....

1 RispondiIt may not be balanced i dont think they will be able to do that. Even if they do you will have people making new accounts abd wrecking kd so they can get in lower ranked groups just like any other non regulated tournament. Anyhow if you play it no matter how good or bad you are i am positive you will be able to get the gear. There is no way bungie is not going to make it possible for everyone to have a chance to get gear, just look at the loot system the way it is now. Nothing matters about how well you did in a group and its not going to start now. The only difference is it will cost people more currency to enter the trials if they suck at it. If your more skilled you wont have to buy in as often.

The best players will get the loot the fastest... However, keep in mind that everyone able to play Trials will most likely give it a shot, so a lot of Crucible noobs myself included will be in rotation. Beyond that it looks like there are consumables to help even the worst eventually get the gear they desire.

1 RispondiI play a shit ton of skirmish with random players so I so excited I once got over 90% of the score for my team it can't be that hard

5 RisposteI don't understand your point. Are you saying, if you aren't good enough to get the rewards, you should still be given the rewards? That's ludicrous.

Modificato da Mok: 4/27/2015 2:52:47 PMFor those that are invited (I'll probably be excluded), I'd worry about people manipulating their connection. See the attached video (PS4 lag switch, author uses Advanced Warfare only because Destiny takes a while to set up a match; he DOES NOT say it cannot be done on Destiny). Since it is an elimination type event, I won't be surprised if I hear about people cheating, or at the very least, attempting to cheat, shameful as it is. Whether or not it works is another discussion altogether. Note: I do not condone this behavior, and only attached this video as a warning. Anyone caught doing this should be permanently banned! Oh, and check out this link. http://planetdestiny.com/trials-osiris/ It looks like you can also get in if you receive the "An Unknown Patron" bounty. Of course, this information is subject to change....

Strategy is key! Played yesterday with two friends.... Learning each other's play style is key! And hate to say it but. ( Stick Together! ) and you might have a chance..., don't go off on you're own... Find a good area with you're fire team and make them come to you...

1 RispondiWell IB was also supposed to be a top tier pvp event look how that turned out. As long as you're somewhat decent you'll get rewards is what i'm thinking
-
Me and my pals have gone through skirmish many times now and I THINK we are ready. Think.

1 RispondiIt's not going to matter. It will still be RNG. The better teams will just spend a lot less motes of light on Osiris coins to get back in after losing a match. You gotta pay to play w ToO w in/game currency. I bet a lot of people are going to burn through motes on re-rolls w this IronBanner as well as w the gun smith on HoW. Motes are going to be in short supply. Fortunately there appears to be a method of conversion to motes, so hopefully that will ease the burden.

3 RisposteI hope they show us something in the reveal that changes my mind, but I'm pretty sure its just going to be a pre-made dominated event. I'm a solo pvp'er, took me awhile to adjust to Crucible and was terri-bad when I started. My average was about 0.30 k/d, but over time I learned the game and now my titan is almost 1.00 and my warlock is above 1.00. Still haven't maxed my hunter or used him in PVP since I enjoy my warlock so much. Some matches I can easily go between 2-4 k/d, but my average is more around 1.5ish now that I'm starting to get better. Half the time it depends on my teammates, it baffles me that I can go 1.5 k/d and be with 5 other players who can't do better than 0.50 and we get absolutely smashed in control and clash. Iron Banner and any time you come up against a pre-made or clan in Crucible is the best example I can give. I might be able to hold my own but our team always gets crushed by at least 5-7k points in the match. Iron Banner is the worst with match making. I lost 13 matches in a row last Iron Banner and was positive in every single match while my teammates went negative every time. It is just really difficult as a solo player to do well in these competitive events with a poor match made team. I fear that Trials is going to be the same way and even some of us who are decent at PVP and enjoy it won't be able to get anywhere with the event. Hoping the reveal shows us that Bungie has added ladders or some kind of ranking/match making system, because the way it works now for playing as a solo or small team just sucks.
-
Eh, not sure it'll be fun. It WILL be a Last Word/ Thorn/ Hawkmoon festival. All you will find is a bunch of hand-cannon people who are looking for the same thing as you. Honestly there are a few things that put it out from other things, but people are just going to be aids to want to compete against. *sigh* I'm ashamed to say my team is the three of us smashing with Hawkmoon.
-
Assuming the rumors are true and Trials of Osiris will be a skirmish mode, then an experienced team will just wreck. And teams are about all I have ever seen in my brief time playing skirmish. Hopefully the Trials will bring out enough players that a string of matches can be won and rewards can be had average players.

Modificato da objdadon: 4/27/2015 2:30:27 PMSkirmish is a camp fest. Should've at least been clash. Nobody likes to play hide and seek.
-
I think if your skilled you'll get the faster than those that are not as skilled. But if you participate and lose or have a bad KDR then you'll get what your looking for just not as fast. Kinda like how when you win a crucible match you get 3 crucible marks but if you loose you get 2...
-
As far as I understand it you have to be good just to get invited

4 RisposteModificato da Tekn0z: 4/27/2015 1:30:03 PMUnless you are in the top say 1% of crucible players you will not be receiving any gear or weapons from Trials of Osiris. It is meant only for the most elite players and not casuals so that the top skilled players can show off their skill by wearing gear and armor in the game which currently is not possible. This is what people like Datto has been pushing for, more difficult content, more content that only very high skilled players can obtain and nobody else should be able to. Bungie finally delivered. P.S. Nowhere am I claiming to be a top 1% player :)
-
I doubt it will be balanced in the idea of skill > all, but it's going to come down to team and strategy. I wouldn't be surprised to see blink teams and bubble teams going bananas in there. Personally, I'm not worried. I'll use that time to work on my own crucible game. I am a terrible PVP player who tends to avoid it =) The rewards are just beautiful, maybe one day when I finally "git gud" enough to play with the "big boys" in PVP I'll get a team and go for it. Other wise, I'll stick to what I do =)
-
If by balance you mean average players performing poorly and still getting rewarded!? Then heck no. I really want to hope that trials will be a true test of skill And not give away gear because you simply tried.
-
That is the point you realize, right? Engame content for PVEers: Prison of Elders. Endgame content for PVPers: Trials of Osiris. I'm terrible at PVP, but I'm totally okay with this. I'll try ToO for the hell of it, if its too annoying, then I'll stick with Prison of Elders, no big deal. What is with everyone wanting stuff just handed to them with no challenge? Endgame content should be difficult, and the challenge should suit those that it is geared towards. But come Wednesday I suppose we'll all know more of the details about the Trials and be able to determine exactly how the challenge will be presented to us. I'm gonna guess that anyone can eventually earn the gear, its just going to cost you more (to buy into the Trials multiple times), while more skilled people will complete the trials faster, and obtain gear with less material/cost investment.

Well, there will probably be plenty of less-skilled players running around, at least at the start, so don't worry too much. Also, a pre-built team of average players can be a great team if y'all communicate well. Definitely enough to outmatch a randomly matchmade team of bad to average players. Skilled players may take a bit more work but if you can get a couple on your team you're good.
-
Crucible players deserve to have a mode where skill is truly rewarded. In pvp having a reward system based around skill is of the utmost importance to encourage people to play at the highest level. Whether it's a ranking system, medal/achievement system, or skill based reward system, PVP games need this to be successful long term. I'm super happy that Destiny now has some form of this. If you're an average pvper you will get an average amount of rewards. If you're really good you will get rewarded more accordingly. This is the way it should be. Not every mode needs to give rewards like hand outs for participation. If you're not good enough to succeed in the trials, too bad, git gud
-
In my book something is balanced if the more skilled player wins. I think that in ToO, less skilled players will still be able to get the gear, it will just take longer.
-
Get in right after launch when everyone is trying it out and you might have a better chance. Keep your playtime close to when the more casual players are gaming. Typically after work and afternoons/evening on weekends. Not saying this is any kind of a guarantee but it might help keep you from being matched with the pros.
