So my lawn mower caught fire the other day... I know this is insane right. Long story short, it was wet out and not in danger of exploding or anything as the oil and gas were open. I opened them quickly just in case after it caught.
I tried putting a bunch of water on it but its not a good idea with gas and oil so I figured I'd just lut it burn out. My garbage man pulled up, freaked out and got my neighbors who had a fire extinguisher. He used their fire extinguisher to put it out, I thanked them both polity and proceeded to make sure the mower was in a safe spot just in case.
Every things fine just need a new mower. Now my problem here that I wanted input on was that my neighbors husband came over today, 2 days after, and asked me to replace their fire extinguisher....
Now I know for my part I'm morally required to replace it, but I was utterly dumb founded that he even asked, I mean who offers help then requires payment for it?
This seems like an incredibly shitty thing to do to someone. I'm kind off pissed at the guy right now frankly.
So comments?

Do what some man said in the comments. Buy a new mower, mow his lawn one day and charge him $100 , cause thats exactly what hes doing to you payment for a gesture of kindness tho not needed
-
Just buy him a good fire extinguisher and take the high road. Most people are dicks. Move on. Turn your focus to that blond chick down the street.
-
Why the -blam!- didn't you offer to replace it?
-
find a novelty one and replace it with that. when he needs it he will find out he is a dick and he will get burned.

1 RispondiModificato da Uriyaal: 4/21/2015 3:13:04 PMI talked to some folks at work as well, they say the same thing. I am going to get another one but there's only a 40$ 5 lb one available, I'm stuck living near them but I have some things to say to my neighbor and our land lord. For example how noisy they regularly are. How he doesn't put lids on his garbage so small amounts of wind blow his garbage into my driveway. I had just been picking it up and not worrying about it. I'm still angry at this asshole honestly, shit.

Modificato da MissVixx: 4/21/2015 6:42:46 PMI'd be pissed too! You didn't ask for his help and a decent person wouldn't even worry about you paying them back. I certainly wouldn't think about it. The house my parents bought had 0 batteries in the smoke detectors. The -blam!-ers living there took them all before moving! Who does that lol People do crazy shit... I mean, when I do something for a person I don't expect anything back.

1 RispondiI'm not an adult however I know that when when something is offered to you that it's out of that persons generous nature. And in that matter, being generous means giving for others without asking for anything in return. I frankly think it's pretty rude for him to do you that way, however it's not my decision, you can either pay him 50$ or tell him to get his own.
-
1 RispondiIf you didn't agree to him using it and he just used it in his panic, then no tell him to jog on. But if he asked you if you wanted him to use it and you said yes, you should replace it.
-
He's a douche, if you do replace it do it with the smallest one you can find.
-
2 RisposteAsk did I come get you to put my fire out? Did I ask for your fire extinguisher? If the answer to these questions are no, then go away
-
1 RispondiAsk him to replace your mower since it was going to be rebuildable until he ruined it with his fire extinguisher. Then you have the trespassing charges to boot! Seems about as logical. Sadly since he is your neighbor it is probably best to buy him a new one. Just make sure when you hand it to him, you "accidentally" hit him in the nuts with it.
-
Don't pay for it. It didn't even needed to be put out so its his own problem. Hes ths one who used it as a favor. Neighbors help each other out not make them pay for shit.
-
2 RisposteKind of a dick move. If it was me I wouldn't ask for you to pay for a bew one. I understand everyone have there bad days and I wouldn't make it worse by asking for money. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me
-
2 RisposteHow much does he want...and do yall drink beer together...if he is a friend or drinking buddy replace it then give him some crap about being a fireman with a$$less chaps on...if he isn't your friend don't replace it. Also call the fire department and ask if they refill fire extinguishers some do for free.
-
2 RisposteAt any moment did you ask him for his extinguisher? No? Then you need not reimburse him for it.
-
3 RisposteIn Australia bro , real Aussie wouldn't ask u to replace a 10$ fire extinguisher
-
1 RispondiFire extinguishers are not expensive. No I don't think you're morally obligated to replace it and it's a little douchey for him to be like that (as I said they're not expensive) but if it were me I'd just do it if for no other reason just to keep the peace so to speak.
-
Wow just wow
-
What a dick.
-
Or just tell him his fire extinguisher just got nerfed deal with it.
-
4 RispostePay half? I don't know how expensive they are. But I guess no harm thanking him. But rude to ask for payment though but I think he'd hold a grudge.
-
If they lent it to your garbage man to put out the fire, then it's their fault it's empty. You don't owe them anything. I think he is just trying to see if you will do it so he won't have to pay it.
-
Go on a "vacation" for a few weeks and hope he forgets about it

3 RisposteModificato da Guardian7591: 4/20/2015 7:56:07 PMYou should go buy a new mower, mow their lawn and say "That'll be $20." EDIT: But in all seriousness, you should not replace it. It would be different if you had ran over and asked to use it but they offered the help without solicitation. The fact that they even asked shows that they were not concerned for your property or your safety but helped you for their own, selfish reasons. Tell them no, but if they ever need help with anything they know where you live. You'd be glad to lend a hand whenever you can.
-
6 RisposteI'd get it recharged for him if it's the right type. I'm with you, though. That's super crappy, un-neighborly behavior. If it's not the rechargeable kind and you have to buy him a new one, put a huge bow on it or something.
-
3 RisposteGo get him a cheap one and set it on his porch along with a bag of dog sh*t...on fire 😎
