As we all know a large chunk of the player base never truly experiences the wonders of the Destiny raids due to needing a large party size or requiring great efforts to succeed playing solo as a casual gamer.
From what I've seen and heard, The prison of Elders is finally the solution for those that want to experience something different that can be done in smaller groups and hopefully even alone.
Further more, From current theories the prison of elders is a sort of horde mode (Firefight if you played Halo)... This is wonderful for a variety of reasons:
-Simple to understand
-Easier to modify/develop for (Bugs etc)
-Does not require large groups
-Promotes a different set of skills
-Promotes various kinds of team strategies
-Allows for larger open spaces
-Allows the use of mode specific Perk trees
Though raids do offer similar outcomes depending on the situation these rules just never seem to be universal throughout the entire experience, With HoW and the prison of elders more players can finally experience what THEY want to experience without the restrictions of needing a large group, An exotic rocket launcher or a specific class.
To summarise: PoE is a chance for the other half of the player base who don't want to RAID (or can't find the time too) to finally experience a type of endgame content they can enjoy without the stress of how strategic and devoted the raids require them to be.
Edit: please feel free to debate and discuss, But try to avoid being biased or one sided, That only adds fuel to the fire
Edit two: I only hope bungie notices this post , let them know that many of us do understand what they are going for, Its essential they know that they do have supporters.

I agree I can't wait for the arena. It doesn't bother me that there's not a raid. It gives them some time to perfect this new raid and spot game breaking glitches and bugs.

1 RispondiI completely agree, and almost made a thread similar to this, but now I don't need too. Thank you my good sir!
-
Arena will probably be fun and I assume more easily accessible, but I'm going to miss those first few days after a raid drops when you've got 6 friends playing for hours and the feeling you get after beating it. A new raid feels like and event, I'm just not sure the arena can replicate that. I'm both looking forward to the Arena mode and disapointed that there will be no raid.
-
Really they should have added this and a raid... people have been asking for a pve content well this is kinda of that but also given us a raid for those who actually enjoy doing it would have been awesome...
-
The point of density is raids. That's why the game was made. -blam!- Osiris. I'm not getting shoulder charged and fusion naded off spawn because of some 6 yet old on the other end. Destiny has been sold
-
4 RisposteI'm not saying the Prison of Elders isn't good, because it really is because it does fill in for people who don't raid. That being said Bungie not including a raid is just a punch to the gut for a large amount of the community who expected a raid. A lot of people do raid and it's their favorite part because it requires a large amount of teamwork, granted Crota's End didn't but that's another story. So not including one was a huge mistake and upsets a large amount of Bungie's fanbase.
-
I disagree entirely but bungie does love their sheep. Bah bah baaaaaaah
-
I'm excited for the Arena.

Modificato da BrotherXInXArmz: 4/14/2015 5:25:12 PMBravo, bravo, well said! I agree very much.

I agree with this but also am a little let down. I agree with everything stated above, and since I'm one of the few I can think of left in destiny who specifically tries not to cheese it makes a lots of sense to do this. Only reason I'm kinda bummed is cuz I've barely done normal vault at this point, since I don't have all the free time to get a team together and do it reliably. As a result I have no vault weapons, in spite of my constant desire to have fatebringer :/

This. More people should read this and stop whining

1 RispondiI will have to hold my judgement until I read more official information. In order for me to be happy, the PoE will have to have AT LEAST four TRULY different ways to play it. I say this because the bulk of the content that I do now is ROC strikes. The HoW expansion is confirmed to have just one new strike and no new raid, so, the PoE MUST make up for that dearth of content. But, I must say that I am honestly puzzled by so little content in these DLCs. There are tons of artists, composers, programmers/coders and what available that could help churn out content.

1 RispondiDoes anyone know if we get "Raid gear" so to speak from the Arena? Like any new gear from playing the PoE thing or is it just for fun? I know there was leaked raid gear so maybe that is what drops?
-
I'm part of that half of the player base, and you make a lot of good points. Can't wait for HoW
-
Shooting at bullet sponges wave after wave.. every casual every rejoices in the apparent ease of this new "challenge". No teamwork, no skill, no effort, no strategy.. should be a fun strike.. I won't lie, I would more than likely enjoy it right off the hop but that's only because it would be new to my senses.. after a week though it seems like it would become overly stale to sit in a room and shoot waves of bullet sponges. Sounds like the Undying Mind strike but with different enemies.
-
3 RisposteI wish it was 1-6 people, not 3 person thing
-
This mode has so much potential. If its anything like Gears of War horde mode or Halo ODST firefight, this will be epic. Wave modifiers, strong and stronger enemies . It's really not easy and requires actual team work.
-
2 RisposteSounds like a glorified strike so far..
-
I'm a long time Halo and GOW player. So I'm very familiar with horde type gaming and I think it's a great idea. First thing, it's something different! We'll have PvE, strikes, raids, PvP, and now hordes. More content is always better and it gives you a chance for different gear. And don't forget they said that a new raid is coming later this year. Remember Bungie said Destiny is a 10 year project. Why would you want 10 years of just raids?
-
An arena sounds small to me. It sounds more sexy if there were a small moon near the reef that was basically a prison with a sort of gladiator style life for the fallen and we'd get rewarded for killing them in a sort of horde mode with modifiers to change it up. And itd lead to it having a different climate than the other planets like in the trailer - really dark and snowy when its not facing the sun.
-
It's multiplayer with emphasis on the cooperative. I'd love s single player mode, but that isn't the game we bought.
-
2 RispostePrison of elders: Battle waves of enemies while dinklebot struggles to open the door and trips alarms, all to get into the next room so dinklebot can struggle with the lock, and trip alarms. Continue to infinity. Joking aside, I think this could be a lot of fun.
-
I wouldn't be too surprised if it were sort of like a horde mode but they add adjustable modifiers to it... o.O
-
I at first found it a little shocking that there wasn't a new strike with HoW, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I need to get my friends together to run VoG again and hopefully pick up some vault gear and hopefully a weapon also
