Why All DLC will cost money
Because it's an add on to the game. In fact all expansions should cost something. Now how much is debatable.
"It's already on the disc" so you mean they left room for seamless additions? So if I buy enough land next to my house is the stuff I put on it also free?
"TDB was a rip off"......touché but still free doesn't fix it. People bought the super awesome collector version and people bought expansion passes. So if HoW is free then Bungie is saying "-blam!- the people who paid ahead to help fund our endeavors. Let's cater to the freeloaders." Yeah that's not good business.
"But the game feels incomplete" well so does my burger but that doesn't mean that in n out will go fetch bacon from Stater Bros, cook it up for me and give me it at no charge.
TL;DR just buy it or don't. Don't remind us of your privilege sense of self you have because you play a game and want to feel special when the truth is there are 17 million Destiny players, worldwide. There are a hundreds of players with your exact loadout/armor/shader situation so you aren't that much a snowflake.

edit: I know it costs money, this was my contribution after seeing so many "I want free" posts and laughed at the amount of stupidity that was in them.

1 RispondiAt the end of the day, even if Bungie WANTED it to be free...Activision. All roads of sadness lead directly to Activision. I honestly don't know what Bungie was thinking partnering with them. I mean sure I guess it's better than being another of EA's victims, but not by alot.

5 RisposteGTA V has released expansion after expansion almost on every minor and major U.S. Holiday over the past 2 years for free. The content that they have GIVEN away has been more varied, thoughtful, and enjoyable than TDB. I've seen all the new gear and weapons that is coming with HoW and it's mainly re-skins again. Don't get me wrong, I love Destiny but updated content should be free as an incentive to keep players coming back and to promote new players to join. I've played lots of games, no doubt about it Destiny is fun. Gameplay is solid. Graphics are great. Endgame content is severely lacking. It's a known marketing strategy to sell expansions to keep interest and profits up and as long as we continue to buy those season passes this trend will continue. I bought the season pass. I want the new stuff and the new raid too, but I truly feel that it was content that was cut out of the original game in order to sell it to us later. This is a despicable business practice and as a community of gamers who want the best we shouldn't tolerate it.

He is correct. what he was getting at was: the "already on the disc stuff"(which was stated my the community, NOT BY BUNGIE) wasnt true. if you have even paid ANY attention, you would know that the missions, raids, and strikes stuff (that we found from a jail broken disc) are all just place-holders. "Shells. A "Plan Ahead". Duh. Why do you think HoW has been delayed by 2 months?????????? cuz they are changing a lot and making new things. That is kinda hard to do if it is already engrained on a physical -blam!-ing disc ya know

2 RisposteIf you put stuff on after you buy the land, then no it's not free. If you buy the land (Destiny) and there is already stuff on it (TDB, HoW), then you should get it at the time of purchase. If there is a barn on the purchased property, would you not have access to it until a future date and second full payment? Would you not get to use every toilet after you bought a house, even if some of them are in a new addition? Dumb analogy man.

Calling it a DLC or expansion is a stretch. They better make it up to us with Comet. Maybe by making it cost, like 30, 20 quid at most? Seeing as it's half the game. In fact, it being on the disc is a major problem. It's one of the problems they can't add new stuff. That and last-gen

Never heard anyone on forums asking for HoW to be free. Whoever said that is a entitled little bitch, that's all. Idk why you made this post either because it's obvious that it will (and rightfully will) cost money.

It's not like a call of duty expansion where you are just loading up completely new maps. They are adding stuff to existing maps, so they left room to add the different stuff in. Once HoW comes out, you will see that it was all just placeholders when you compare it to the video where people are glitching into the area on earth.

It's not on the disc. What game companies do now a days more so then ever is leave a shell of an area some have more definition then others some areas may even have enemies but it's not finalized and may change but it will require less of an update once it's live.

I hit dislike, mute and hide post. You think people are acting priveledged? When this country was great people got what they paid for we were promised a gem and sold an unpolished turd. Dont get me wrong these first two dlcs must be paid for because of those that prepaid and the legality of the situation but the crap delivery of what bungie marketed to us shows they need to throw all players a bone and not act like their way of screwing their player base is ok.

It's not that people want it for free... It's that they have already paid for it.. Activision started this sneaky trend (no surprise) and it's the norm now.. They develop a game.. Withhold large chunks of the game and later charge 9-10$ for the rest and call it "dlc" I don't know how one you have been gaming but "I remember a time" when you'd get the whole game the team developed and they'd release it and (here's the strange part) they would keep developing after it released to creat more content!!! Crazy right?? Now you get a game...then pay the next year for the rest of it... Don't be fooled by destiny.. How has been done for a year now... Sure they may add or remove some damage and accuracy stuff for "balance" but if you think they built how or tdb from scratch you're not a smart person.. This is how video games can keep making money long after they release their game. Tl;Dr Before.. They would put their heart and souls into it.. And then add more content after to keep you playing.. Now, they stagger the full game over a year to constantly make money..

2 RisposteModificato da and Spicy: 4/12/2015 3:53:28 AMSigh...OP doesnt realize that its LITERALLY on the disk, they show gameplay of House of Wolves areas in some of their pre launch trailers...(Ive already bought it, its worth it for the raid which is the only new thing they are making) In my opinion the missions from both dlcs should have came with the game since they were practically there already, I would have gladly paid 15$ for raid and exotics.

Who is this post even aimed at? Are you talking to someone specific here? Don't remember seeing the masses asking for HoW to be free, and it would be impossible considering it was previously bundle in a season pass.

The on-disc question It's clear that some content is present on the actual game disk, though no one really knows just how much. But the argument is not that we're buying a game with empty space in it, it's that the content is present and locked off behind a paywall. If we accept that the content is already on the disk, then there is no question that we are being asked to pay for something that we already possess. It would be like buying a house that has several locked rooms, and being told that you can have access to those rooms at a later date if you pay additional money. I wants free To say " I wants it free" something that other had to pay for is stupid. No arguments there. It feels incomplete There's no doubt that Destiny fell short for a lot of people. But, when you order a hamburger and you are told that it will come with 5 patties, 3 strips of bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a portable defibrillator to restart your heart, should you just be accepting and not complain when they bring you a double cheeseburger and 2 packets of salt? People were expecting a lot from Destiny, not because we have unrealistic expectations, but because Bungie advertised a lot. Is it the fault of the players for expecting Bungie to actually deliver the game they promised?
