Wife hates that I play Destiny
First off let me start with I love this -blam!-ing game, I got the PS4 bundle for Xmas and Thx to Lizard Squad didn't get to play it till January.. I'm not going to lie I been hooked like hoe on crack, I just got to get my game time on! I have 3 characters hunter 31 soon to be 32, Titan 31 and Warlock 30 soon to be 31.. Completing bounties, weekly nightfall, weekly heroic, daily heroics and now VOG and Crotas raid, for all three characters, well shit yeah is time consuming... I admit at one point I was paying more attention to the game than her, so I get where she is coming from... From my own initiative and realizing I been wrong, I have been arranging date nights and I try to play after she goes to sleep, and not when we both get home from work (lol it feels like cheating, sneaking out to the living room to play Destiny) we still -blam!- allot, but she complains that's all I want from her...I have tried to explain to her that this is something I enjoy but in no way, shape or form, I would chose the game over her, Regardless of my attempts to compromise and show her that she is 1st, she wants me to stop playing forever!!!
-Leaving no room for compromise, what is more ridiculous from her ultimatum is that she doesn't mind if I spend time doing other things besides playing the game, like if I where to spend it watching football or out in the Gym and not spending time with her, that would be totally fine.. WTF????
In conclusion I think my wife is related to Crota, that could be the only reason for all the drama, her mom definite looks like a creature from the night.. The eternal struggle between light and dark is not only a war, it is a crusade!
I don't think I'll stop playing, that is a part of me, I am willing to compromise, and I love her, but if she can't see that, I'll have to move on and find someone that I could love and be passionate about and at the same time we could share my passion for the game- I need a girl that makes me a sandwich and gives me a BJ while I play dammit! ( that line needs to be turned into a song)

Just focus on one character at a time. I was having that same issue. Now I pick what toon I'm playing with that week and that's all I do. I might hop on to get in a second or third crota kill but I don't do everything on every character each week. Your wife will flip shit if you try that lol. Good luck dude, my wife doesn't care that play as long as I take her out and we handle business on the regular.

Your wife is trying to take control over something you enjoy and, if you decide to leave, make sure that she doesn't pull this shit with everything in your life: otherwise you turn into Paul Rudd from Knocked Up, sneaking out to meet up with your friends for a baseball draft. If she's worth it, even with everything you know, then quit Destiny. If not, then quit her. Either way know that you have to give something up.

1 RispondiIt might be bigger than just the game. She may feel like your neglecting her in some kind of way. See the video game you get into a different way then just TV. It could even be jealousy. My wife was jealous of the dog at first since she had minor allergies and I didn't immediately get rid of the dog. Eventually it was realized that she was so afraid that I would care for other things more then her, no matter what I did. One day we sat down and discussed it. This wife of mine hates video games especially Destiny. As long as I can make time for everyone and only play a couple hours after lights out, I'm good. So the game may have something more like a reminder of an insecurity. It's gonna take a long talk, maybe pull out a tear if you can muster one and just ask how they feel. State some form of restraint and remind her that she is x more important to you than anything. It's easy to do.

My wife despises Destiny as well, but understands gaming is my hobby. I travel a ton, about 135K air miles a year and have 2 very demanding little ones. Destiny is my "me time", but there is a big difference between me time and totally ignoring your spouse. You have to find a balance, spend nights ABC doing/watching things she wants to do and nights XYZ doing your stuff. Another option is to play during a time she is more okay with or set aside 1 or 2 night(s) you have a "raid pass". Not every marriage is the same, not every wife is the same. It sounds like you need to TLC a little more (which now is perfect because HoW doesn't come out for a while). I'm not saying don't play, just play less for the next few weeks and she should shorten the leash a little bit when she sees you can balance both. I speak from experience!

I make my own hours at work 5 days a week. We take turns getting each other whatever we need from the kitchen ie. Water, beer, food etc. Its glorious.

I have sort of the same issue, its gotten better since there isnt much left for me to do so my playing time has gone down drastically. My wife never wanted me to stop playing altogether though, she just wanted me to not play everynight all night. And i get what you mean by you could be doing anything else but playing and it wouldnt bother her, lol. Thats not right that she wants you to drop it completely. Id stand my ground and give her a compromise option and thats it.

My wife hates destiny as well! Luckily for me she is very understanding and knows that gaming is a huge part of my life. In ways I think she sees our friends and the fact that most of the other guys are down the pub watching the football with there mates, whereas at least I'm still at home with her. I think she realises that there are other things I could be doing that are a lot worse than being at home playing games!

My family are the same, I have to go to bed then sneak back out to the lounge room to play once they are asleep. It feels so stupid having to do this as its a game however the anger it causes my family when I play it around them is crazy! They have even bought me new games to play which just gather dust so it's not the game play its obviously the actual game that's the problem. I'm thinking that maybe they can't stand watching us grind the same damn thing over and over and over again lol

Years from now, no one's gonna give a shit that you made it to 32 and got all the exotics. I'm sure you won't, especially if you lost your wife. I quit completely and rebuilt my relationship with my wife. Made her feel special again and rebonded with her. Wow took a backseat for a long time, I did go back to it eventually but by then I've already moved on to other games which better suited my schedule. Destiny is like a mini wow so it feeds my addiction but it doesn't quite suck me in as much as wow did. I'm very thankful for that because now I also have 3 kids to pay attention to as well. Having said that, my chars are maxed out and I do have all the exotics except titan and hunter armor. TL;DR It's only a game, real life is more important. Find a balance and take it easy - Destiny is so much easier than wow to reach end game!

So you go from saying that if it was between the game and her, you pick her... But then later say that she wants you to completely quit the game and you cant do that... It is one or the other.... My suggestion is to bounce.. She sounds like she has an issue with her man playing video games... If she cant accept that gaming is your hobby, then you guys should just split as both of you will never be happy. I would talk to her and let her know that. It is your hobby, and you will stop playing as often, but wont give it up as it is your hobby. If she cant handle that, then kindly show her where the door is... Dont get me wrong, your woman should always come first, but she also cant keep you from enjoying life...

1 RispondiI squeeze it in when I can. I wait for her shows to come on or offer to do things around the house. On raid day I cook and clean, then give the kid a bath. I get a few hours and 9 strange coins from her in return for the bounty. I also try and involve her in the game. She likes to listen in on my clan while we do our raids. It's hard sometimes but when both spouses are flexible things seem to be easier. Good luck Guardian.
