The question is: Does PvP take more skill than PvE in Destiny?
You can vote and post you don't have to read my arguments although I recommend you skim through them.
My arguments
PvP absolutely takes more skill that PvE. It is much harder to kill a team of humans that have largely unpredictable patterns and potentially better weapons than mobs who have predictable programming who never adapt to a situation or strategy. And which plans have been devised that work Everytime. Not to mention cheeses. You can't cheese PvP.
Some may argue, "Go solo Crota and tell me if its hard." You don't have to solo Crota. Bungie gave you a team, like they give PvP players a team. Soloing Crota would be like taking on a 6 man team in control by yourself (I've tried, I'd rather try to solo Crota). The people who have soloed Crota have a formula, a pattern that works because the AI doesn't adapt. They don't see things coming and do the same things over and over and over again. It takes timing, but not skill per-say.
For those of you who say their stats are bad because they don't play: don't post here simple as that.
For those of you that say all you need is bad connection: I've only witnessed this once in all my months of PvP. My wifi is terrible, if I get through three jobs of gta 5 online I consider myself lucky. Everytime I look at my wifi bar it's low and red. With that being said, I experience very little lag so you just might want to check your connection.
For those of you that say it's unbalanced: it's not, you just need to adapt. If you know there's a trigger happy blinker than you don't want to run around every corner and back up when you see red. This isn't call of duty, run and gun won't work here as well as it will in Call of duty.
For those of you that say you only play for bounties: you have no business here then. Move along.
Raids do take a little bit of coordination and communication. I would know I've done a number of raids and do atleast 6 a week. And up to 12. So I know how raids work.
Also, hats off to you gentlemen who are good at both! You are the true Guardians.
For the slower students who need things drawn out in bold for them, The question is does PvP take more skill (or is more difficult to master) than PvE?
Please in your arguments take PvE in as a whole. PvE is much more than raids. It's story missions, nightfalls, strikes, and weeklies. Using raids as an example is fine but those seem to be the only arguments against PvP.
Also, please be respectful, go drink your coffee before you post so that your not so grumpy and calling fellow guardians morons. Yes we are looking at you Uncle Steve -_-
Edit: This whole post was revised on March 16, 2015 for clarity.
People don't camp in the crucible. If you played it you'd know that. NO ONE CAMPS. Your thinking of call of duty
Edit: Just got Gjallahorn, extremely happy

Think PvE is more difficult personally. PvP doesn't take more skill, it takes more brains, which sadly in short short supply among the PvP ranks. I swear every Blind watch match in Iron Banner this past week: "Heavy ammo available!" Collective team thought: "Everyone but Zytz get your rockets and stand on top B- where the enemy will come! They'll never expect it!" Team proceeds to trade their 5 lives for 1 opposing life, while I just shake my head, because it's actually the 8th time I've seen this today.

Pvp and pve both take skills but they are different. Having a good kd in pvp does mean you have skill but does not make you better then the player with a negative KD. Many factors come in to play with the right team the right connection. With a lag no matter how good you are will F you anyway. Pve as far as raids also matters on your team as well. Both are fun either way
-
Pvp doesn't take much skill unless you'd consider good reflexes as skill. Pve doesn't take skill either. It all boils down to how generous RNG has been to you and how good your loadout is.
-
3 RisposteTakes more skill to win or to get high K/D ratio? I only have a .65 K/D but I got to lvl 5 in Iron Banner in 3 days.

1 RispondiWhat constitutes bad pvp stats?

Modificato da TeslaDoc: 3/24/2015 7:36:38 PMCamping in PvP only works well for the fist two kills, because they know where you are and what weapons you are using. You can see if your killer runs away or stays in the same spot. If he stays in the same spot, you can always flank and get him. Oh, and you can solo any PvE content.
-
I have seen some people camping in pvp. Not a lot. But it does happen. But in this game you can always find a way to hit them from behind. (Giggity)
-
Btw reread your post, if you have the red bar that means you're teleporting/invincible to everyone else the game will look normal to you. And I wrote an excellent summarization of skill in PvP in response to someone else in the thread. I think you'll agree with what I wrote.

PvP and PvE take different skill. I think it is harder to get good PvP stats that clarify whether you are a good PvP player or not. in PvE, it's all about conquered conquests and total numbers of deaths. PvP has lag as a major issue (living in BFE it totally sucks for us in the boonies) and it depends on the type of game you play. In Control I would think average total points per game has more meaning than the bologna Kd ratio... there are people who do avoid all areas of contact and try to snipe/shotgun players headed to and from zones (*cough* campers *cough*). In the other types of games Kd ratio is more meaningful. Also, the type of weapons you have at your disposal determines your success at times- Red Death vs Suros vs sniper vs Ghorn.

13 Risposteit's funny , only the people with shit kd (negative) are the ones who say "kd doesn't matter , there's not skill in PVP" .. lol RIGHT. - they always come up with some sort of excuse. "it takes not skill to shoot someone around the corner with a shotgun" .. well if you're running into a room with your eyes closed (not watching radar) that's on you. of course I'm going to shotgun someone around the corner why? because if I see my radar with a bar over it I know the enemy guardian is heading in my direction and its either I get him or he gets me. sometimes it becomes a waiting game and two more enemy guardians come so it's a 3v1 and they all get put down. I could of ran but I decided to stay.
-
7 RisposteCourse it does. In a raid the same shit happens over and over . If you done it once you can do it 100 times . Now go into Crucible and finish top 100 times with a KD of 5.0 every game . Or at least try and bust into the top 100 players in your country via DestinyTracker . Personally I'm trying to be the best PvP'er in England on Control per KAD\R ..... I'm currently 18th place. But my next target is top 10 . Unfortunately a few dud games against laggy fukers knocks you right back down again. But the challenge is to get back up
-
no duh. that's why im lazy in PvE and when i jump into crucible i actually have to think about what im doing
-
Yeah I'd say it takes some skill but also lag and the team you're up against and who you're playing with makes all the difference. I've had outrageously awesome games and then I've had games where its like I font know what a joystick is. It varies. I play to play, if I win cool if not, oh well.
-
2 RisposteIf ppl say yes most of ppl are shotgun scrubs with no skill aways . PvP in this game is broken with lag and over power shotguns
-
PvP definitely takes more skill than PvE. Anyone who says otherwise is just stupid or sucks at PvP and is trying to cover that up haha
-
Pvp takes skill coming from day one vet played beta and play everyday when can pve does as well just not as much
-
1 RispondiModificato da JHarv: 3/24/2015 3:17:15 PMlets put it this way insanely good pvp players are guaranteed to be good at pve insanely good pve players are not guaranteed to be good at pvp

1 RispondiHalf the games I play on PvP involves the other team red and yellow barring while my connection is full green. They skip and dance everywhere and seem to have no lag. When I shoot they are gone and I'm dead. I'm convinced this is some sort of cheat. So until I play a real PvP game where shit head little kids aren't purposefully doing something to have an advantage I can then answer this question the right way.
-
15 RisposteIt really doesn't, it's gear based just like PvE.
-
3 Rispostenot at all. just snipe with a felwinters lie
-
It all depends really. In Destiny the PvP may be more difficult than PvE for the simple fact that raids are a joke, and by association so are the people who designed them. When it comes to raid mechanics, Destiny is lacking to say the least, but in a game like WoW for instance, a PvPer could not just hop into a raid and be successful.
-
I suck at PvP. I'll be the first person to admit it. It takes a lots of quick reaction time and micro-management, most importantly really good situational awareness. When I do play and start to learn my way around a map I can see myself improving but I always kinda get bored of PvP. Playing against other players is always challenging but I just get tired of all the running and gunning. When I do play, I like control because it seems more goal oriented and I notice teams tend to fight as a team more often. Every other type of game I've played everyone just scatters and does their own thing.
-
2 RisposteNo skill required. It's a super fest. Eliminate the supers or make them one and done per match and you will see all the no skill players running around acting beast mode start camping and hiding.
-
1 RispondiI'm not too sure if PvP takes more skill. If all I have to do is use a shotgun, Thorn or a blink combo with the other, then I wouldn't count that as skill. But, you are playing against humans, who don't use the same number of adds and strategies every time (unless it's the aforementioned). It's a Two-Way street.
-
3 RisposteI am only basing this off of control. I want to know what you think is a good PVP stat. Sure your KD isn't bad, but your captures are very low.
