The question is: Does PvP take more skill than PvE in Destiny?
You can vote and post you don't have to read my arguments although I recommend you skim through them.
My arguments
PvP absolutely takes more skill that PvE. It is much harder to kill a team of humans that have largely unpredictable patterns and potentially better weapons than mobs who have predictable programming who never adapt to a situation or strategy. And which plans have been devised that work Everytime. Not to mention cheeses. You can't cheese PvP.
Some may argue, "Go solo Crota and tell me if its hard." You don't have to solo Crota. Bungie gave you a team, like they give PvP players a team. Soloing Crota would be like taking on a 6 man team in control by yourself (I've tried, I'd rather try to solo Crota). The people who have soloed Crota have a formula, a pattern that works because the AI doesn't adapt. They don't see things coming and do the same things over and over and over again. It takes timing, but not skill per-say.
For those of you who say their stats are bad because they don't play: don't post here simple as that.
For those of you that say all you need is bad connection: I've only witnessed this once in all my months of PvP. My wifi is terrible, if I get through three jobs of gta 5 online I consider myself lucky. Everytime I look at my wifi bar it's low and red. With that being said, I experience very little lag so you just might want to check your connection.
For those of you that say it's unbalanced: it's not, you just need to adapt. If you know there's a trigger happy blinker than you don't want to run around every corner and back up when you see red. This isn't call of duty, run and gun won't work here as well as it will in Call of duty.
For those of you that say you only play for bounties: you have no business here then. Move along.
Raids do take a little bit of coordination and communication. I would know I've done a number of raids and do atleast 6 a week. And up to 12. So I know how raids work.
Also, hats off to you gentlemen who are good at both! You are the true Guardians.
For the slower students who need things drawn out in bold for them, The question is does PvP take more skill (or is more difficult to master) than PvE?
Please in your arguments take PvE in as a whole. PvE is much more than raids. It's story missions, nightfalls, strikes, and weeklies. Using raids as an example is fine but those seem to be the only arguments against PvP.
Also, please be respectful, go drink your coffee before you post so that your not so grumpy and calling fellow guardians morons. Yes we are looking at you Uncle Steve -_-
Edit: This whole post was revised on March 16, 2015 for clarity.
People don't camp in the crucible. If you played it you'd know that. NO ONE CAMPS. Your thinking of call of duty
Edit: Just got Gjallahorn, extremely happy

2 RisposteI play mainly PvE but just did my first IB to level 5 and loved it, my k/d still sucks but I had a ton of fun. Now that I've gotten a 6 day dose of only MP I may give PvP more time. But I agree PvP takes more skill, a different kind of skill. You have to have quick reflexes and mine aren't that quick at 56 years old, at least compared to the youngsters that play!! I only strive to get better and have fun. Sometimes this game and some of the players are TOO serious. Relax a bit. Cheers

I think that pvp probably takes more skill, but pve can take a different kind of skill. I have seen some pve players do some really great stuff. I have also seen pvp players with good stats be absolutely horrible and just use fairly cheap methods for most kills (camp/hide then only use super and rockets). I think most really good pvp players can be really good pve players if they wanted to. But going b the other way, most really good pve players could just be good pvp players. It's too bad most people are just mediocre at both, but think they are better than they are. But I agree that pve can be more based on timing and just knowing the mechanics such as spawn points/times or how to manipulate enemies ai into doing what you expect. And PvP can be more about unknown circumstances and adaptation. The skills do translate though.

Please please stop judging players by level.
-
Think PVP is the better player. I just can't see cpu controlled opponents who react the same every single time (glitches aside) being more difficult to kill than human controlled opponents, ever.
-
Running around with felwinters lie takes no skill.

Modificato da JonEsee2350: 3/24/2015 8:40:05 PMI play and enjoy both aspects of the game, but I'm Still trying to understand how it's possible to be so bad in the crucible?... You can't consider yourself a "gamer" and only be good at killing level 2 dregs.. Also people stop calling yourselves "raiders"
-
You would have a lot more good pve players who are also good at pvp if Bungie adopted a half decent reward system to give us a reason to play and get good at pvp. As it stands it seems the worst players get the best rewards so it pays off to enter matches, stand in a corner and fap. I barely play crucible aside for exotic bounties (got to get the free shard) because I see no point to it.

PvP, baby!
-
PvP takes a better Internet connection and practice to learn the maps.

3 RisposteModificato da DvlDawg15: 3/24/2015 8:15:40 PMCrucible is full of retards too. Worse than ai who make predictable moves. Titan running at me? Shotgun time. Killed a warlock if he's up in a second counter the super. Blade dancer, run and kite him down. Many crucible heroes are garbage and easy to farm. No my kd isn't great but truth is truth Edit: people do camp in crucible and you don't play if you think otherwise... At least not with your eyes open

PVP is challenging and at time frustrating but very rewarding. Honestly the only thing that really bugs me about it is playing with people who get really upset over it. I try not to. All you can do is keep trying and improving. You will get better at it with practice.
-
Of course it takes more skill. It takes tons more skill. You're fighting real people, who have real learning curves and real reflexes.
-
Given enough practice I imagine that everyone has the capability to do both. I bought the game for PvE, I have not really given PvP a chance. My play time is limited but maybe I will give it a shot when I am done with the raids.
-
I'm a raider and I would say so, unless you are trying to do PVE challenges like you said above. I killed hard crota first try 3 times in a row last night, if you have a "team" anything in PVE is really easy

1 RispondiHow does running around a map pulling the trigger round a corner wether somebody is there or not take skill. Or constant bunny hopping while shooting take skill? *shrugs*
-
of course it takes technically more skill, but that didnt stop me and my shit KD from getting to IB Rank 4 and with 500 rep left, i didnt want to grind anymore since i already have the AR and i bought a new Jolders at 331, so while doing WELL in PvP takes skill, playing PvP does not
-
4 RisposteWho cares, Destiny does not have true competitive multiplayer.
-
2 RisposteI have NO pvp stats because i believe we should be killing the common enemy lol
-
Pic related... It's how I see everyone in PvP after Bungie started catering to the cry babies.
-
Lag switching takes emense skill
-
27 RisposteAh yes the "skill of pvp." you mean the people running around with shotguns one shoting people. Sure, situations like that can be avoidable, but that doesn't change the fact that most games are just two groups of slobbering retards throwing themselves at each other until the timer goes ding. It's even worse that crucible affects pve when it comes to weapon nerfs and every other thread is "nerf x because it's overpowered" Crucible is the cancer killing Destiny.
-
Actually alot of people camp in PvP. Have you played doubles or even regular skirmish?
-
Light level has nothing to do with PvP or pve skill
-
3 RisposteHave you ever thought that your connection is a reason that people in your game lags and not you
-
3 RisposteI would argue that PvP players are going to be more "skilled". There's no reason a PvP player isn't going to wreck shop in PvE. I feel "PvE" skill boils down to knowledge. A good PvP player only lacks the nuanced specific knowledge related to the raids or whatever and it would be about 100x easier for that player to pick up the knowledge and be able to apply their high skill level and achieve success, as opposed to taking someone who can breeze through hard raids and expecting them to perform well against top PvP players. I'm not saying PvP doesn't require knowing the maps and strategies etc. Assuming everyone knows the maps and barring latency, PvP really does come down to "skill". To put it this way, I would feel a lot more confident taking a non-gamer or even someone with poor FPS skills and teach them how to get through tougher PvE areas/raids, than I would training them to play crucible and perform at a competitive level.
-
Think PvE is more difficult personally. PvP doesn't take more skill, it takes more brains, which sadly in short short supply among the PvP ranks. I swear every Blind watch match in Iron Banner this past week: "Heavy ammo available!" Collective team thought: "Everyone but Zytz get your rockets and stand on top B- where the enemy will come! They'll never expect it!" Team proceeds to trade their 5 lives for 1 opposing life, while I just shake my head, because it's actually the 8th time I've seen this today.
