time for a little review if anybody is interested.
Visuals:
Right off the bat...the graphics..wow. The fact that a console game can look this good is unbelievable. If you are the kind of person who likes pretty games. This game is for you.
Visuals verdict: 10/10
Now I know about 90% of you reading this will not buy a game based on graphics. So here is the meaty part.
Gameplay:
Once you get used to it, it is acceptable. Yes, it is very clunky at times and some of the mechanics do not work very well. The biggest one is cover. Half of the time I found myself wishing I could just shoot out of cover and proceed. Unfortunately I played it on hard and would end up dying very quickly. The third person is a nice touch as it allows you to see how good your character actually looks and yes I am fond of Galahad's moustache. (no homo) I was actually quite fond of the gunplay (not the right word). I found it very satisfying once I was able to hit headshots frequently. Although this relates back to visuals, the graphics are no different from gameplay/cutscenes. Even Naughty Dog can't do this.
Gameplay verdict: 6/10
QTEs (although part of gameplay):
Straight up 1/10. QTEs can be cool, but not in The Order.
Story:
I found myself wanting to clap as the credits were rolling. Now of course this is all subjective and I am sure some disagree, but wow I really want the sequal NOW!. It left me wanting more. This is hard to talk about without giving away spoilers...but apart from the sluggish pacing at the beginning of the game I found myself deeply satisfied. Would I play again? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend? yes. But only at a cheaper price, or borrowed off of me ;)
Story verdict: 9/10
Narrative: (kinda links with story I guess)
I found the narrative great. This was made even better with above par voice acting. Linking in with the characters, at first I thought "meh" but with hearing what they had to say and the way it was said...I loved them!
Narrative verdict: 8.5/10
Is it worth it?
If you have deep pockets then yes it is. But for the majority of us who are not as wealthy as some, I find it hard to suggest this game at full price. Yes the story is fantastic and if you are a story fanatic then by all means go for it. But the 8 hours it took me to beat it on hard..I cannot say it is worth it for £50 (UK) $60 (US). This does not mean it is a bad game. Despite the criticisms of the cutscene/gameplay ratio, I found that each and every cutscene was vital to tell the story. They do leave a few loose ends untied, but we know there will be a sequal so we had to expect some sequal bait (although I do disagree with that) but I still found myself happy with what we got. BUT I know there are some people who dislike cutscenes and want more gameplay, which I can understand, and for you the game is not worth it. Will it be worth it with a price drop? Hell yeah it will. Plus it is an easy platinum if you are into trophies like myself.
Final Verdict:
The game could have been so much more, but focusing on what we have instead of what we haven't, I would rate this game close to an 8/10. A decent multiplayer (which would be on fire in a setting like this) would have bumped this up to atleast a 9.
tldr:
pros:
+story is a massive plus
+great setting
+narrative and voice acting
+leaves you wanting more
cons:
-gameplay is sub par
-on the short side in terms of hours
-not worth the full price as no multiplayer
-awful QTEs

Not Call of Duty. 4/10

3 RisposteIf people are calling The Order a 8/10, gaming is already dead. Now it's going to be acceptable to make movies into almost literal movies MGS4 was a movie yeah, but the gameplay was some solid shit, unlike the order which was loaded with QTE's

Modificato da Inflicte: 2/23/2015 1:56:45 AMGonna get it when the price drops to maybe $20
-
1 RispondiHow long did it take to complete?
-
I think I'll definitely be renting it when I get the chance. I wish it was longer or had more replayability. Multiplayer would've been nice, but I feel like some single player games, even relatively linear ones, are still worth full price (Uncharted 1 and Bioshock are good examples). Oh well. I'm glad I didn't preorder, but it sounds like it's still worth playing.
-
1 RispondiSo if I got the game used (or waited till it is cheaper) it would be worth it?
-
7 RisposteToo bad I sold my Ps4, hated that pathetic PoS
-
1 RispondiJust watch a play through on YouTube. Basically the same experience but it's free
-
7 RisposteBeat? you mean watched :D
-
Those who hate it for the lack of gameplay elements, walking dead didn't have much of that and it was still great.
-
6 RisposteSo it works fantastically as a movie but is subpar as a game.
-
18 RisposteI'm sorry but GAMEPLAY is the most important thing in a game. Not visuals Not story Not narrative If it has shit/non-existent gameplay the game is objectively bad. I buy games to play games, not watch cutscenes or admire narrative. We have films and books for that.
-
I think I might get it. I loved Bioshock Infinite for its world, beautiful environment and story, but felt it was a short game that go interrupted with fights way to often for way to long and pushed through towards the end.
-
1 RispondiGreat review buddy, I am half way through and I'm not rushing as I'm actually enjoying the game in its entirety. Right stick fudge just gets me confused at times but that's not hard. I'm really enjoying a deep story and happy to have a sip of my tea while a movie clip plays. It's also a game were the rest of the family have taken an interest in as they are following the story. I love it that its set in London even more so White Chapel. Just a nice change compared to what is available.
-
I bet when the sequel cums out they'll put multiplayer, and playstation might someday have their own version of gears of war
-
Some games don't need a multiplayer, not pvp type anyway. I wouldn't want to play pvp multiplayer for this game. Coop would be cool, and a longer story line. At least it had a story though, I'm looking at you Destiny lol.

Modificato da FrostD: 2/22/2015 9:37:35 AMI'll rate each area by how far along in the development process they seem to be. Sound/Visuals: Polished Narrative (voice/acting): Gone Gold World/Characters: Gone Gold Weapons: Gone Gold Gameplay Mechanics: Beta Testing Plot/Character Development: Still in Alpha QTEs: Abundant and Still in Alpha Pacing/Flow: Stuck on Story Board Lastly whoever had the final say on having players constantly walk through lifeless halls and corridors to try and show of the games graphical fidelity should be fired, hung and then shot.

Good Review.

11 RisposteIt will be free on ps+ in a few months ;).
-
2 RisposteSo basically I could just watch a walk through on YouTube and be equally satisfied?
-
1 RispondiI pretty much agree with this assessment. I didn't mind the QTE, but using the right stick for dodging threw me off. Using the left stick to move is a convention... So I'm not sure why they decided to go with that. The pacing felt a little slow at times. There were areas where I was forced to walk. Sometimes there was dialog in those areas, but other times you're just walking for no reason. I'm not at all interested in multiplayer, so that's not really a factor for me. All in all, it was great. But no, it doesn't have a lot of replay value. I mean, I'll probably replay it occasionally to see the story again, but there's no gameplay to bring me back. I have the same issue with The Last Of Us, I'm finally playing it again after what, 3 years.

2 RisposteSeriously, great review. Please do more ps4 reviews!

13 RisposteMove over ign... We have a new reviewer in town

2 RisposteI know this sounds really stupid And probably extremely obvious But is this game primarily about lycans? You don't have to be specific I just bought the game and I was hoping it was more on the demon hunting Paladins side It seems interesting enough (I like the constant playing so im kind of stuck until Im done and there's always something to do) I would just like to know if it's just lycans or not
-
2 RisposteBasically the same way. This game (in some aspects) looks better than most PC games. Not counting Mods. The interiors. My God. That's the best wood flooring I've ever seen. The ending kinda upsetted me. Too much left unanswered. It's also very bleak. I'll say it again. TLOU had more humor. TLOU was a happier game. I'd rather be in TLOU than The Order. London is a cesspool.

4 RisposteHow can you beat a movie?
