An open letter to all the enablers who are defending the cheater who got what he deserved:
PRE EDIT: it appears some don't know what this is all about. Here's a quick synopsis:
An asshole told a kid he could help him cheat and gain levels without working for it. The kid (who was streaming on Twitch) was like "cool. Ok". Kid announced that he is going to be using a glitch and was proud to be showing a cheat to his viewers. Kid allows the asshole remote access to kids PS4, asshole deletes kid's characters. Kid learns valuable lesson about cheating. And about trusting assholes. Asshole gains notoriety as huge asshole.
Dear Enablers,
Once upon a time I was talked into stealing a candy bar. I was 11. I didn't even get out the front door. I got caught trying to conceal it, so I technically never stole it. I knew it was wrong, and I had to pay it back. I also got grounded. I also had to do volunteer work for the store ( mom made me pick up trash in the parking lot) twice a week for the whole summer.
So please please please give me free stuff and treat me like I'm -blam!-ing Ghandi. Please hold my hand and tell the world it wasn't my fault, even though I know it really was!!!!

Dude, this kid doesn't deserve free handouts. Screw him. He deserves exactly what he got. Just as I did when I stole the candy bar. This community is so full of God damned soft, touchy-feely, emotionally driven, hippy bitches it makes me sick. The kid needs to sack up and move on. And so should all you fake humanitarians. Quit enabling and reinforcing his bad behavior.
ADDENDUM: I agree that the guy who facilitated the kid's attempt to cheat is a major dickworm.
EDIT: wow, heated discussion up in here. Thanks to everyone who's keeping it civil. And a big F you to the guy calling everyone a "narcissist " (look in the mirror, "Joaquin". Oh, and try looking up the definition before you embarrass yourself any further.)

4 RisposteI couldn't care less about the kid or what he did or didn't get. Lessons learned and all that.... I just want to watch Kermit and people like him get seriously hurt. Civil rights shouldn't shouldn't protect people who can't act civilized.
-
3 RisposteNobody cares about your candy bar thing.
-
To all you pulling the he doesn't know any better card 1. he's 11 not a baby. 2. If he was informed the consequences of cheating, or given out information he deserves it even more. 3. But when he had all his characters deleted they were 31 23 23 Not like he lost much progress. Lots of people dismantle exotics and characters everyday, on purpose or by accident. Where are their rewards.

1 RispondiI mostly agree with ya. The idea of the kid getting more stuff is beyond rediculous. (We are living in a coddling age so I'm sadly not surprised by that knee jerk response from many.) The kid shouldn't even be on the game for his age, he tried to cheat, got screwed over....case closed. I do think a lot of people are being a little harsh on him. He is a kid and we're trying him as an adult. You sneak into a bar at 17 and get a public intox charge walking home, you're usually going to be charged as a minor and the bar may get a fine if you're snitch made and think it'll get you out of trouble. So that raises the question what should be done to the kid. I'm with the crowd that he got punished enough, and hopefully he'll learn a lesson. One thing I've learned is when you break someone down, if you're really trying to help them, you help build them back up. So I think it's cool some members are willing to help "power level" the kid, setting down for hours with him dragging him through missions. Hell, I'd run through a couple strikes for him, let him know there's still decent people in the community, all while reminding him there's no real rewards for cheaters. The kid should have a "Scarlet A" (C?) On his chest along with Kermit, instead he's being martyred.
-
3 RisposteWow...... Do you have no heart? Yes, he did try to cheat, he realizes it, but using a glitch versus STEALING is NOT a fair comparison. He shouldn't be punished further, you no-hearted bitch. He made an honest mistake, as did you with stealing a candy bar. He should get his two characters, PLUS one exotic of his choice. If anyone should get punished, it should be Kirmit, and he should get punished not only by bungie, but he should also be FINED. He TORTURED a poor kid, and he kid CRIED. You have no heart. If your parents raised you like this, so what? You can change. But saying he needs to be punished FURTHER? That's just WRONG.

6 RisposteMy eleven year old nephew once cheated at monopoly, I didn't make him start crying over it. Your obviously not a grown man because there's no way in hell would I agree with some stranger making a child cry, PERIOD. What you should be asking yourself is why you think a 20 year old man is justified in finding a 11 year old boy on the internet and making him cry. What kind of messed up person are you. Seriously.

3 RisposteThe kid was talked into cheating and he learned his lesson at the point where he turned his Xbox back on and saw he only had one charachter left. That was when he learned his lesson.
-
Not the best analogy for this situation but I agree to an extent. Getting his characters deleted was more than enough punishment, unfortunately.
-
I'll give you that he got what he bargained for, cheaters shouldn't prosper. However, I don't think he deserves all the hate the community has heaped on him, this thread included. He tried to cheat, paid a high price, end of story. No need to rub it in his face, he already lost all his progress. This being said, big props to you for not making the douche who did it into a hero, that's my main beef with the situation.
-
5 RisposteIn school, if caught cheating, you receive a zero and grounds for further action in some cases. This kid got caught cheating and got almost a zero... He should learn his lesson from this, sure it takes a terrible person to do something like this to a kid, but it all comes down to him putting himself into that position, now that it didn't go his way, he is in the oh pitty me, im a victim stage. This is an equivalent to loosing a bet. All was fine until he lost, to bad he wagered his guardians and their items. Bet he doesn't get caught taking candy from the White van guy after this. Should kermit get banned, yes. Should the kid get his stuff back... haha, no...His fault, life lesson for sure.
-
2 RisposteI agree. It took me forever to get the weapons they gave that kid for trying to cheat. :(

1 RispondiThese bleeding hearts. Kids get talked into cheating and getting hacked all the time. This particular child is getting some extra special treatment for something he shouldn't have done and got burned by. It's an online game, let them lose progress and LEARN. Maybe when he gets a phishing attack he'll have learned a thing or two from this. So much enabling, it honestly doesn't help.
-
2 RisposteThis is a video game. This child is, in fact, to mosts surprise, just a child and does not take this video as life and death like you pile of bozos. Bungie did a good thing and you nitwits are sitting here with a box of twinkies and a rootbeer criticizing them for helping a kid who made a mistake that he thought everyone else was doing (glitch to 32). The kid has no concept on this stuff, he's a god damn child. Stop whining over someone maybe having something good happen to them for once. It feels a lot better to support a good cause instead of being a punk and going against it.
-
Both the troll and kid are at fault. I understand the guy with brain surgery, but an eleven year old? Come on Bungie, let the kid learn his lesson and don't pamper him like royalty.
-
I agree to a certain extent what makes me feel bad for the kid is that it was a grown man who talked him into it
-
1 RispondiIf you were a kid and a asshole deleted your account, you'd cry too.
-
I agree completely. I think the kid learned a valuable lesson that didn't really cost him anything in real life. That being said, the dude that deleted his characters and items deserves all the hate he's getting and any punishments handed down.
-
4 RisposteThe point is, it was a grown ass man doing it to a 11 year old kid. Think of it as if that was your kid. Wouldn't you be upset? Yeah you would. Whoever Kermit is, you're a low life ass hole. Stop trolling little kids. What goes around, comes back around. Better believe.
-
This. I agree. The kid is at fault too and deserves no sympathy. He learned a lesson to not trust random people online. Yes, the other guy is a dick, but the kid is just at as much fault. Also, if he does get "rewarded" or something, how do you think thatll play against the community? That we can do stupid shit like that and get freebies? Ok....unless the guy hacked the kids account without permission of use then yeah, i could see giving the kid sympathy. But the kid gave the other guy access...nonetheless trying to cheat.
-
BUMP You forgot the lack of ass whipping though

Modificato da Cozyman Cam: 2/21/2015 6:43:27 AMI just don't see how intending to utilise a nonexistent glitch in a video game, where the only thing at risk is entertainment, can be equated to committing a misdemeanor.
-
The kid is a naive eleven year old, I'm sure he put more time in to Destiny than what you had to for stealing the candy bar. And no, they're not the same situation so why compare them? This kid actually worked to achieve something and tried to get a shortcut to his goal, all you did was take a candy bar. He actually did take time to gain everything that he had, while for you, you had no risk, you were taking a candy bar. Just pay it back, you can't get back all of the time he spent grinding on his characters.

LMFAO I woulda so did the same thing lmfaoooooooo that's so funny -blam!- that kid
