"The Kid" deserves NO SYMPATHY
An open letter to all the enablers who are defending the cheater who got what he deserved:
PRE EDIT: it appears some don't know what this is all about. Here's a quick synopsis:
An asshole told a kid he could help him cheat and gain levels without working for it. The kid (who was streaming on Twitch) was like "cool. Ok". Kid announced that he is going to be using a glitch and was proud to be showing a cheat to his viewers. Kid allows the asshole remote access to kids PS4, asshole deletes kid's characters. Kid learns valuable lesson about cheating. And about trusting assholes. Asshole gains notoriety as huge asshole.

Once upon a time I was talked into stealing a candy bar. I was 11. I didn't even get out the front door. I got caught trying to conceal it, so I technically never stole it. I knew it was wrong, and I had to pay it back. I also got grounded. I also had to do volunteer work for the store ( mom made me pick up trash in the parking lot) twice a week for the whole summer.

Dude, this kid doesn't deserve free handouts. Screw him. He deserves exactly what he got. Just as I did when I stole the candy bar. This community is so full of God damned soft, touchy-feely, emotionally driven, hippy bitches it makes me sick. The kid needs to sack up and move on. And so should all you fake humanitarians. Quit enabling and reinforcing his bad behavior.
ADDENDUM: I agree that the guy who facilitated the kid's attempt to cheat is a major dickworm.

Since when did video games become the litmus test for ethics and morality in our society. Stealing a candy bar is wrong because the candy bar was someone else's property. Who's "property" is the glitch material gained by the kid? Is anyone harmed or losing anything? No. If anyone is going to cast stones at the kid then be sure you've never listened to a pirated song (or downloaded one onto your smartphone illegally) or taken part in any of the various "cheese" methods against Atheon or Crota. What the kid did was fundamentally inert. I lump those who are angry with the kid with those who moan and groan about campers in fps. Get over yourselves. What that dude did to the kid was cruel, period.

Everyone calls the acts of sympathy rewarding the kid, but it's hardly a reward when you get everything forcibly taken from you first. It's just a bit of consolation.

No free stuff has been confirmed for the kid, some say word of crota but he probably didn't have enough space and it was waiting for him at postmaster after the team ran him through hard mode. People are getting their panties in a bunch because there's a rumor going around that he might get FoaF. No source or anything yet people are bitching about it. The kid learned a lesson and is better off for it. He still has to grind in order to level up his gear and weapons, that is his punishment for his part in this debacle. Kirmit is roaming around (isn't on bungie.net so he doesn't know that this issue is bigger than he anticipated) unpunished as of yet. He broke many CoC and ToS rules in doing this. The biggest issue here though is that an adult took advantage of a kid (the reason why people 100% side with the kid). I don't think kirmit should be banned. This could be handled in a very simple way, make him grind again. Delete all exotics off his account and legendary armors. Also delete all his strange coins, vanguard and cruicible commendations, and materials. Sure people (trolls) are going to come out of the wood work to help kirmit the same way people helped the kid, but like the kid he won't be able to escape the grind fest. That to me along with maybe a 2 week suspension (if they are inclined to do it) would be fair. Tl;dr Both are at fault, kid was punished by having to regain lost stuff by grinding again and kirmit is yet to be punished.

eh i could care less tbh. It's the kids fault for trying to boost and the guy is also pretty shitty for deleting everything of his. Bottom line, the kid shouldn't have done it. Pretty stupid of him. Reminds me of myself as a young, stupid kid buying into MW2 lobbies with MSPoints. PSA to every kid out there - there is no easy way to learning. Stay safe.

[i]What the kid did[/i]: he tried to cheat and/or broadcast a cheat on twitch. In an immediate twist of karma, he lost 2 characters, multiple exotics, and however many hours are associated with that. While harsh, this is fair. [i]What kirmit did[/i]: emotionally abused an 11 year old, took advantage of a minor. The backlash has been pretty severe, which is appropriate. Not death threats, that's inappropriate and frightening that it would escalate to that level. He has been ostracized from the community, which is fair. Note: his "story" is unbelievable and he better pray that no one is smart enough to find cached versions of his YouTube videos he made when he did it. [i]What the community did after the kid lost his stuff[/i]: the community has pity on him because he's 11 years old and made a mistake. Pity is not about what you did wrong, but why people may feel sorry for you. Did he deserve any type of break? No. But mercy is not about "deserve" but about people seeing someone and sympathizing with that person and helping that person because they feel bad for them. Under the circumstances I feel this is understandable. He's just a kid. He made a childish mistake. That is all.

1 RispondiOn the kids side of the argument I fell in total it's the parents fault. When I was 6 my parents told me not to talk or give personal information to strangers on the street. When I was 10 and I got an xbox, I was told not to talk or give personal information to a stranger on multiplayer. All the kids parents had to do was say not to give personal information to strangers and the kid would probably still have his characters.
