Every so often, I hear conjecture about more chests or items in the Vault of Glass that have yet to be discovered. I think to myself "Even if there is another chest or something, it would just contain more ascendant material or a chance at a random exotic. Big whoop."
Then I had a thought: "What if instead of some lowsy item, it was a battle with a fallen guardian that was assimilated by the vex. Maybe Kabr himself."
Imagine that. You're in the Vault on Kabr's path and you stumble upon a switch or a pressure pad you havent seen before. It opens a portal. You and your team walk through to find the remains of guardians fallen long ago. No bones or biological remains - just their armor, their weapons, their ghosts... long decayed and oxidizing. Bodies seemingly erased. Was this the first team of guardians to enter the vault? You notice there arent any vex remains. Cautious and perplexed, You progress further. You find yourself in a colossal cave filled with ancient ruins.. pieces of architecture stripped away by time to reveal vex circuitry underneath. No one has been here for centuries. You hear a sound coming from the far end of the opening... a sort of groan. It sounds almost human. You approach the sound to find a human silhouette in the haze. It resembles a Titan.. but it looks off.. contorted. Did this thing kill the guardians from earlier? Then, you hear an ear shattering shriek - similar to that of an enraged minotaur. The creature springs into view. Its bones protruding outward where steel had taken hold In their place. Wires and tubes worming through its appendages. An open wound on the side of the skull revealing circuitry. Its eyes glow red. An abomination. It lunges at you.
This thing was once human. Perhaps captured by the vex, experiemented on, and transformed into this. Or maybe he lost his way in the Vault and was slowly indoctrinated by the constant Vex presence.
So that's my idea. Maybe the reward for defeating this creature wouldn't be an item, but a choice. A choice to change the elemental burn on the Vex Mythoclast. Maybe to set one Vault weapon to always update with new content. Something like that would make the Vault worth exploring.
Disclaimer: The story above may not be accurate to the actual lore of the game. Its just a musing i came up with while at work to illustrate how such an addition could breath life back into the Vault.
Thanks for reading.

BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!! Someone at Bungie needs to hire you.
-
I love you
-
2 Risposte1: stop playing destiny 2: write like 40 science fiction novels 3: make cash, cause if buy your books
-
6 RisposteWhile I enjoy the thought; according to the pittance of lore in this game, Kabr's fire team wasn't just killed by the Vex, they were completely erased from Time. They simply never existed. Therefore, the only person we could supposedly find in this state is Kabr himself. There wouldn't even be any remains of his fire team for us to marvel over.
-
Good idea. There is a part when you reach the bottom of the jumping puzzle if you look back out at the huge vastness off the room and look to the right there is just a random portal gate sitting there a little out of reach...........
-
1 RispondiNot a new idea. I've seen this same type story several times.
-
1 RispondiThis would be so much better than, "let's give a regular enemy some knock-off steroids and call it a boss!"
-
I seem to have gotten a bit of love for this overnight (save for an asshole or two). Stoked most people seem to be so into it. Thanks guys!

Well, that's what exo's are going to look like in 50 years
-
lol like Bungie will do anything good with this game.

1 RispondiModificato da Unforgiven: 2/13/2015 8:43:18 AMThe only hidden battle in VOG is battling against hidden bugs!
-
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some way to access the portal out on the rock in the disappearing platform section. I've wondered before if you went through the "past" portal (commonly referred to as "Venus"), and head out that way if you can go through the door and explore that area, but I've never been with a team that wanted to take the time to find out. You can get through the portals after Atheon is downed, but my screen goes black before I get anywhere

1 RispondiFor finding the true boss, Like finding the hadouken in megaman x
-
Sounds really good. Too bad things like this will be largely ignored (like most of the great ideas made by players) by developers.
-
Bump for an amazing idea. Things like this could bring the extra oomf this game needs!

1 Rispondistraight out of mass effect lol

Megabump!

2 RisposteDude redo this and put a poll on it i would vote yes for your idea

To much story. I would get my hopes up. BUT expectation may lead to great disappointment when it comes to an actual story. As much as I love the raids. There isn't much in the way of story or visual cut scenes. Even after you beat the boses we should be given a cut scene. Or short death sequence.
-
The hidden battle is already found its yourself :D No really, this is a good idea!
-
3 RisposteHoly crap I had the same idea literally just the other day! I would love to fight Vex assimilated guardians! It would be amazing to fight Kabr!
